Sandor did the work personally, quickly & ethically--telling us that we didn't need to replace our copper gutters (as another contractor did) but rather, we could do some minor repairs. The cost difference? Under $300 for the cleaning/repairs vs. a $10K estimate from the other guy to replace!!! We were so pleased that we're looking for ways to spend more money with Sandor as it's rare to find someone with his patience, integrity & honesty who works above the roofline.

We are extremely pleased with the quality of work and the workmanship of The Exact Roofing Co.. The scope of the work and the nature of sourcing matching, reclaimed materials for our projects (terra-cotta and concrete tiles) extended the completion of all work on all projects. In all, the work for all phases of all the projects took about 20 calendar days that included some weather delays. This was not a problem for us as we had not yet moved into the property. Sandor kept us updated regularly via e-mail with numerous digital photos of his progress as the work was performed.

A few days after Sandor's visit, I saw there were other shingles that must have blown off in one of our recent spring storms. He offered to come back out and fix those too, with no charge! Aside from being so responsive, he took digital photos of the work that needed to be done, then emailed them to me with an estimate. It couldn't have been easier or more efficient - this guy is the best roofer I've ever met. Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!

After snow and ice tore down some of my gutters, I obtained three estimates from three slate roof companies to repair the damage and install snow guards (to try to prevent this from happening again). Sandor from Exact Roofing Company offered to install more snow guards than the other two companies AND his estimate was lower than the other two. Further, he was more responsive to my phone calls and questions than the other two companies. Naturally, the damage occurred in the winter. Once I chose Exact Roofing Company and signed a contract, Sandor periodically kept in touch with me until the spring, to let me know when he planned to do the work. He arrived promptly when promised, worked independently, and cleaned up VERY WELL after himself. Without being asked, he also removed his shoes before entering my house. He even added extra roof and gutter work that needed to be done without charging me more than the original estimate. The roof and gutters look good, and I am very pleased with this whole experience.

Sandor is a very nice person, easy to get a hold of and professional. He was prompt, did a great job and answered all my questions. Will use him again in the future for sure!

Professional, pleasant, prompt, and stuck to estimate. Took before and after pictures. Beautiful workmanship, honest, and provided excellent value. This is the second time we've worked with company and were just as impressed with their professionalism and craftmanship. We will certainly continue to use them for any roof work in the future.

Yet another very happy Exact Roofing customer here! This winter, water leaked into our wall beneath a flat roof that Sandor had previously replaced. When I described the leak over the phone, he said it sounded like ice damming rather than the roof, but he?d come by the next day to check it out. Many people were having ice damming issues last winter and he was busy, so I appreciated the quick response. The roof proved to be in perfect shape, but ice had forced its way into a gap between the siding and trim. While he was here, Sandor shoveled off the flat roof to prevent more ice getting into the gap. He didn?t charge us anything for it?this is the kind of old-fashioned, top-notch service that Exact Roofing delivers. He returned to caulk the gap as soon as the weather was warm enough. When he returned we had another problem--a leak into our attached garage wall. There were 2 possible sources on the roof, a couple of cracked clay tiles and old flashing that needed to be replaced around a very large, 3-window dormer. The flashing went around 3 sides of the dormer, which also had some water damaged wood trim and siding. Since Sandor has done repairs on our roof before, I knew how skilled he is at working with copper and clay tile, but he also did an outstanding job replacing the rotted siding and trim, reducing the profile of the trim to prevent water damage in the future. He also reconfigured the flashing and added an ice and water shield such that it looks and functions better than the original. As always, we are 100% satisfied with Sandor?s work. He?s quick to respond by phone, clearly explains needed repairs and often takes photos up on the roof to show you what needs to be repaired or the finished work. When we first hired Sandor, his estimate was far lower than that of larger companies to do the same work. Since then we haven?t sought other estimates for additional jobs, but the prices seem in line with what he charged originally. He tries to minimize costs while using the finest materials and treats customers so well that we wouldn?t call anyone else. A truly outstanding company.

VERY WELL. Sandor is very professional. Our only complaint is that we had to schedule far in advance because Exact Roofing is very busy (and, weather got in the way). But, we were pleased with the workmanship and job well done. We will use them in the future.

Starting with the estimate, Sandor arrived on time and provided both pictures and an estimate via email, as well as a hard copy via regular mail. About 3 weeks later we called to schedule the work to begin and had to wait for several weeks until we could be scheduled. When the work began, it was finished within a week due to bad weather conditions that prevented consecutive work days. He took great care with the work, was meticulous, and kept us informed of his daily progress both verbally and through digital pictures. He was also honest about what needed to be fixed and didn't scare us into unnecessary repairs. Besides being extremely professional, Sandor and his assistant were friendly, punctual, and just plain nice to work with. My dog even loved him!

Mr. Shiem contacted us immediately (unlike others), came to conduct estimate within days, provided a terrific discount because we are Angie's List customers, and conducted the requested work in an very short period of time (and performed above and beyond the call of duty). I would recommend this roofer as an honest, professional, high-quality, customer-oriented roofing expert without reservation. What a great guy - and a great company!

My husband and I moved into our home 9 years ago and there had not been any work done on the roof fr at least 15 years. We thought we better look into the health of the roofing and expected at least re-flashing and some re-sealing to be done. We found Exact Roofing through Angie's list and called for an appointment for an estimate on Friday and to our dismay they came Saturday morning to evaluate and give us an estimate. Sandor was very pleasant and courteous. After they went up on our roof he came down to let us know our roof, flashing, and gutters were in excellent condition and were not in need of any service at all--hence I must add HONESTY to my other compliments. That was very good news to us and now we know who we will call again if we ever need snow removal or repairs or roofing in the future. And we will also highly recommend him to neighbors, friends and family - I don't believe I have ever had that confidence in the past with our contacts with contractors!!! Thanks to Angie's List and Sandor, you both saved us alot of $$!!

I found Exact Roofing through Angie's List. I read all the reviews and all seemed to agree, this company could be trusted to do the job right. After leaving a message for Gabor, he was very prompt in returning the call. He made an appointment to give an estimate, and was very prompt and professional. He did a thorough inspection of the roof and then conferenced with us about his observations and our needs. He gave us a timeline for the start of the project and the cost. Some rainy days prevented the start of the project, but Gabor kept us informed every step of the way. The job took about four days. The new roof looks wonderful...We are very happy with the finished product.

A large branch fell on the slate roof and needed repair. Shandor came over, gave estimate, and returned to do the repair as planned.He even offered to remove the large limb; however this was not necessary. He did remove several smaller ones. He returned again to repair something we had not initially seen without charge. It was a pleasure working with him.

We chose Sandor because he offered a very reasonable estimate, had great reviews here and was easy to talk to. I never felt like I was asking too many questions which, as a woman, I am often made to feel when speaking with contractors who seem to intentionally avoid lay terms. I had 4 other contractors come out to give quotes; a couple of them never got back to me and 1 failed to listen to what I was actually requesting. It was very difficult to get any to agree on what could be done. Sandor addressed all of our concerns, including those of family members who brought up additional issues at the last minute. He described everything about the job and took time to explain details as the job progressed. 15' of ridge vent was installed and holes were drilled into the beams blocking our already existing soffit vents. We belatedly noticed that the rear of the house was flat-roofed so ventilation there was not possible, and we received a $25 discount for this. Also he'd agreed to replace for free an old shingle causing a leak in the attic and while up on the roof he found about 4 others needing to be nailed down, which he took care of as well. He even ran up to Lowe's & Home Depot on lunch to try matching the exact color for the replacement. Other roofers wanted to tear off the entire south side, install ice guard (which it turns out we already have) and the whole shebang. Evidently most are not willing to do maintenance work, whereas Sandor and only 1 other guy said our roof actually has another 3-5 years remaining. The best part was the photos he took and loaded directly onto our PC before leaving. Any roofer who takes pride in his craft should be offering photos so that the customer is not left in the dark, as many of us will never see the top of our own house. Sandor is also insured and does the work himself with an assistant on the ground, which is a huge plus. Our only disappointment was that the insulation on the attic floor is now covering most of the soffit holes. He tucked it beneath the floorboards as well as possible, but recommended that we remove some of it. If you are having the same kind of work done and don't care to handle insulation yourself, make sure you discuss this detail beforehand. I decided to email Sandor and ask if he would come back him to handle that for an additional charge as it was not discussed in the original quote. He has agreed to return, promising to charge only if he spends more than an hour on it. I will definitely call again for future roof work as he did a beautiful job.

During a heavy rain storm on June 30th, the sound of water dripping on the ceiling led to an investigation in the attic and the discovery of water running down the vent stack.(Not much; the volume of rain and wind was no doubt a factor in the leak) Once I knew what the problem was, I called Mr. Varga AT ONCE! (He had done flashing and tuck pointing for me in 2008). He called me back in about 45 minutes and gave me an idea of the cost on the phone and set a date for him to be out on July 3th. While giving me the estimate, he had mentioned the costs were based in part on whether I chose the copper or aluminum vent boot. I chose the copper, based on his suggestion. (The cost difference was 50.00, the copper being the more expensive.) Mr Varga was at my house on time and after explaining what he would do and the materials he would use and asking if I'd had any further or new problems-no!-with his prior work,he went to work. At on point, he knocked on my door to explain he could not use the copper vent boot he had brought do to the fact my vent was not to standard specs. He would have to the use the aluminum version instead. It would work just as well and would be 250.00 instead of 300.00. With the new vent boot-he had to run to a home improvement store to buy one-he returned to the roof and finished the job. The work took less then 3 hours, including the run to the store.

I called Zandor for an estimate and he was over within the hour. I didnt even think to call my Insurance company and he recommended that I do. It was totally covered by Insurance. If he hadnt said that I would have paid out of pocket. They did the work while i was away and provided me with step by step pics of their work. Their work was great.

I was very pleased with exact roofing. Sandor was very honest in telling me that my roof was in fine condition and did not need to be replaced at this time. He didn't offer insulation and ventilation without roofing, so I wasn't able to go with him... but I will give him a call when my roof does need replaced. He was on time, friendly, and honest... very much appreicated! Thank you!

Very easy to work with. Able to come out within the week for an estimate. Completed work in a 2 day peroid within 2 weeks of signing estimate. Very responsive and called to let me know when they would be out. I got a few estimates on the work and Exact roofing was priced well and the most reponsive. The finished product looks great. They were able to match the replaced tiles well with the current tiles already in place. I would definitely work with them again.

I talked to Gabor at Exact Roofing. He went over to the house (the house is in Cleveland, but we live in Chicago), took photos, called me with quote, and e-mailed me a quote. Very thorough. We did not use Exact Roofing, as my husband got someone else to do the work. However, I was impressed with Gabor's follow-up. Thanks.

Although the work did not start until about 3 weeks after I received the estimate, I understood he was booked at this time of year. Called this morning and said he would do the work today or this week, and ended up doing it today. It took about 5 hours. Family business, two-man crew, very polite, did excellent job, and even added five additional slates for no additional cost which were not included in the estimate. A very pleasant experience.

It went great! Sandor is very responsive and easy to work with. He was quick to get the job done and did it professional, cleanly, and at a very competitive price. He also worked with me on the price because I am going through an economic hardship. He was very respectful of my situation and did amazing work. It's not easy to find a good slate roofer and I'm glad to have his name on file for future work.

Sandor made the fixes promptly after receiving the approval on the estimate - Same experience as I have had with his company over the last several years. I am confident when he makes a fix that it will last, He's also given me some tips on minor fixes I can do myself to save money. He's very reasonable for price per slate replaced.

They were responsive, came to provide an estimate, returned in a timely manner to do the work and were genuinely helpful.
