+ -1 moreIt was a good experience - I noticed that our sump pump had standing water in it. I called him and he came the day after my call because he was out of town. He came prepared with a sump pump in case it was needed and the work was done quickly and efficiently. I've used Elie before and his service has always been excellent.

+ -1 morehe came twice to finish the job, and he did a good job. the price did not include repairing the wall. he gave me the phone number of a painter who does drywall work, but i did not use him. i did the repairing myself.
Description of Work: there was a leak on the pipe which is inside a wall. he had to open a big hole in the wall in order to have access to the pipe.

+ -1 moreHe was wonderful; he was professional but friendly and approachable. He did the work neatly and quickly. I also asked him if he had time to take a look at the new sink fixtures we were trying to finish installing; he did try to finish that for me as well, but we were missing some pieces. He showed me what number to call to explain to the company what pieces were missing from the box and walked me through what to say to them. It was because of the extra work trying to finish the sink that the cost for the job was a little higher than what you might have expected just for the toilet installation. He was worth every penny. My husband is a former plumber, and usually has a hard time letting other people do the work in our house, but he had recently had knee surgery and couldn't do this job himself; even HE was really pleased with Elie's work!
Description of Work: I needed a new toilet installed. Elie returned my initial phone call within an hour and to my amazement was at my house to get the work done the same day.

+ -1 moreWe had a completely stopped up drain in our vanity bathroom. I called Elie on the 26th, he answered the phone himself and was at our home on the 27th. He did everything he could to unclog the drain. When that didn't work, he came back the next day and dug out the floor in the basement and replaced the pipe. All for 350.00! On top of this he is a very pleasant person. We are telling all our family and friends about him.

He was professional, yet friendly, and took care of the problem with expediency and didn't leave a mess for me to clean up. I wrote him a check and he was on his way.

+ -1 moreThe water tank broke early Monday morning. I called Elie around 9:00 a.m. and he said he could get there in the early evening. I told him we had a 40 gallon tank and would like the same as a replacement. When Elie arrived, on time, he went into the basement to look things over. He came back up in a short time and told me that we had a 50 gallon tank, not a 40 as I had told him. He then took the time to discuss our options. He explained the various types of tanks available and the costs. We decided on a 50 gallon tank, which heats 40 gallons at a time. Elie said he could be back the next day at 3:30 p.m. He arrived on time and went right to work. After what seemed like a short time, he called me to the basement. I went downstairs filled with trepidation; because it did not seem like he had been down there very long, I was sure he was going to tell me smething bad was wrong. Instead, he was finished, He patiently explained how the tank worked (its computerized - who knew?) and showed me the controls and valves. He is a genuinely nice man and I will not hesitate calling him again when the need arises,

+ -1 moreI spoke with Elie on Thursday, 9/27/12 about installing a new bathroom sink faucet. He said that he would do the job next day on Friday. I have not heard from him since Thursday evening. I phoned him that Thurs. evening around 6:00 p.m. to find out a time to expect him. He said that he was still on a job and would call me back a.s.a.p. I never heard from him so I phoned Friday morning about his time, plus left message that I would also like him to repair my leaking kitchen faucet and added that even Monday would be good for the work. I never heard from him all weekend even after leaving him another voice message on the weekend. It's now Tuesday and Elie has never once had the courtesy of contacting me even though he had both my cell and home phone numbers. I was so frustrated that by yesterday I hired another Angie's List plumber who right away set me up for tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. I look forward to Marco's service.

+ -1 moreI originally found Elie on Angies list for a clogged shower over 5 years ago and he has been my plumber ever since. Over the years, Elie has replaced a water heater, fixed various leaks and replaced a garbage disposal. Elie has always been prompt, professional and fair. If I have a plumbing problem, I call Elie and he always responds. I don't ask for estimates anymore before the work is done because I trust his work and I know that his price will be fair. Most recently, I had a pinhole pipe leak in a half bath in the basement. Elie was on vacation when it was discovered. I didn't want another plumber so I shut off the valve and waited until he returned to replace the pipe. Since the bathroom had to have other repairs, I had Elie replace the toilet and sink as well. I also replaced an older toilet in an upstairs bathroom at the same time. I told Elie what I was looking for and he got the toilets, sink, and faucet for me. Since I have young children, it is difficult for me to make a trip to Home Depot so I appreciated the fact that Elie got all the materials for me. I cannot say enough good things about Elie.
Description of Work: Repaired and replaced leaking pipe. Repaired 2 shut off valve. Replaced water lines for toilet and prepped line for sink. Unclogged bathroom sink. Removed old sink. Installed two toilets and a pedestal sink. The price excludes the cost of the materials.

+ -1 moreElie was wonderful. Getting in touch with him was easy. I described what I needed done and he gave me a quote over the phone. I decided to have him to the work. To be honest, I was a little nervous because we agreed that he would come Friday (today), but we didn't set a specific time. He said he'd call me Friday morning to make arrangements. My worries were completely unfounded. He called just as he said he would, came at the time we designated, did the work we'd scheduled of removing the ventless gas fireplace from our living room wall, was pleasant, professional and very helpful -- he even offered to carry the unit to wherever I wanted to store it (in this case, my garage). We may be swapping out some faucets in the fairly near future. I'll definitely plan to call Elie to do that work and any other plumbing work that we might need.
Description of Work: Capped off a gas line and removed a ventless gas fireplace box.

+ 0 moreAs I wrote above because of Elie from Elie's Plumbing I was saved hundreds of dollars because I did not need to buy a new water heater. I did pay B & B Water Heater Repair (not sure the name is accurate) and their price was fair. I don't recall the amount.
Description of Work: I received a call from my tenate that the water heater had stopped working. On their own they contacted a plumbing company that told them that the water heater was not repairable and needed to be replaced . I called Elie's Plumbing, told him what was happening and asked him about the water heaters he sold. Elie could have sold me a water heater right then and there, but instead of doing that he said, " Something does not sound right I'm going over and take a look." He called me back from my house, gave me the serial code from the water heater, the manufacturer's phone number, and the name of a local company (I believe B & B Water Heater Repair)who specialize in replacing parts and making repairs on water heaters that are in warranty. Turns out my water heater was in warranty. I called B & B they came and found there was no need for new parts. It just needed to be cleaned because someone had improperly adjusted the flame, or something like that. Elie did not charge me for his time and effort. Elie is an outstanding professional, skilled, responsible and honest. I highly recommend him. I am a woman living out of state and not knowledgable about home repairs on top of that. It is a blessing to know that I have someone I can trust and rely on.

+ -1 moreHe responded quickly to my call and came out the same day. He arrived promptly and stayed several hours. I also had him snake a bathroom sink drain while he was there. He had to replace part of the drain pipe fixture. His work was professional and good. When the gas company came out and found a new unrelated issue, Elie returned the next day and braced a gas pipe to the ceiling and lit the pilot lights on the appliances. He also took the time to snake my downstairs utility tub. He charged me nothing for the second visit. He price was very reasonable and I plan to have him back to install a new water heater in a few months.
Description of Work: The gas company shut off my gas due to gas leaks in the basement. Elie found and fixed the leaks, snaked a bathroom drain, re-hung a gas pipe to the ceiling and cleared a utility tub drain.

He returned my call at 8:05, saying he could fit me in at the end of the day, and would call at about 4:30 to schedule. He called at 4:31 to say he was on his way, worked for about 45 minutes and solved the problem. This is the second time I've called on Elie for plumbing services; on both occasions he communicated well, was prompt, focused, courteous and professional, and also answered my questions and explained what he was doing.

+ 0 moreElie was very efficient. I called on a Wednesday to make an appointment for either later in the week or for the following week. We agreed that he would call Friday morning and we would see what could be arranged. He actually showed up Friday morning at the time he said he would call since he lost my phone number but had the address. He gave me a price for the job since he charges by the job and not by the hour. He immediately got to work, cleared the stoppage and installed the new connection. He is very personable and very neat. Elie explained what was needed before he started and while he was working. He ensured the sink drained properly and cleaned up the work area before he left. I would have no qualms about having him handle any future plumbing problems I may have. I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: Elie snaked a drain pipe that was behind the wall in the upstairs bathroom that chemicals and my own snaking could not clear. He also installed a new connection between the sink and the drain pipe. He took the initiative to install the new connection and did not charge extra for it. I felt the job was fairly priced because I believe that you are actually paying for the professional's knowledge and tools and not just his time.

+ -1 moreElie is always professional and speedy! I have used his services before and continue to recommend him. He replaced the broken part in my toilet in no time. He stopped the dripping faucet in the bathroom and took the time to explain what he did and that the age of the sink hardware might mean that I will need to replace it if the leak comes back (it's from the 1920s). A month later and I have no problems! Elie is definitely the plumber to call for any problem, big or small, that you might have!
Description of Work: One of my toilets stopped flushing and in another bathroom, the cold water facet had a constant drip that a previous handyman had claimed he had fixed, but it still dripped.
