Bottom line on this driveway replacement by Discount Quality paving is that it took about 7 weeks for this driveway to get done, it looks terrible, and it cost me $6000. His workers obviously don't know what they're doing and neither does Derrik. I hired him because of the good reviews on Angies List but he was one of the worst, most irresponsible contractors I have ever dealt with. I wish I had never hired him. The nitty gritty: I hired Derrik from Discount Quality paving to completely tear out and replace my asphalt driveway. He asked for half of the payment up front and at the last minute he wanted part of it in cash. I paid him and he started the work on time (with delays for weather). We discussed multiple times that the driveway grade had to be below the basement window wells to keep water from flowing toward the house. He agreed and assured me that this would be the case. When the driveway was torn out and the base was in I questioned whether it was low enough, he assured me it was. When the asphalt was put in the next day his crew had put asphalt over the window well bases and up against the house. I've never seen anyone do this.It was put in above grade. I asked him to fix the problem and he agreed to cut that portion of the driveway out and replace it properly. When he did this the driveway was sunken so that water pooled at the house .And it did not pass city inspection I asked him to fix it again, so he tore out the lower half of driveway :this was inspected again and still did not pass inspection. So I asked him to regrade the lower half of driveway again. He did not answer multiple phone calls.Quite a bit of time went by. And I started to think that he had decided to bail out on the project. I asked 3 other driveway contractors to look at the driveway and see if they could repair it, they were appalled by the incredibly poor job that was done. One contractor commented that it looked like he did'nt know what he was doing. Then I got a call when I was at work that he had poured asphalt on the lower driveway and wanted to be paid. I was pretty upset. By the end of this disasterous project, people were suggesting that I have the police remove him from my property. Do not hire this contactor, you will be very sorry.

Excellent experience. Took awhile to get a quote from Derrick, but once we were on his calendar everything went well. We had a point-of-sale violation for missing asphalt near the sidewalk that needed to be patched. Plus a handful of other areas that needed patching. Derrick's crew took care of it all, then sealcoated. It looks great. We've used several companies over the years on this driveway, and Derrick's work was the best.

Derrick and crew (mostly family) did a good job and were a pleasure to have around.. They worked efficiently and got the job completed in just one week. There were some details that could have been done better but they were responsive and all of them got taken care of. Overall, I'm very happy with out new driveway.

It went okay. I got a good deal overall it seems like.

D-Quality Deficient work made me depressed and dejected. I think the concrete subcontractor did a good job, but the asphalt subcontractor did a very poor job. Derrick was at my door before the seal coat was even dry to get his money. I should have withheld final payment because 1 by the next day the seal coat was already peeling off large patches of my drive. 2 Whatever material was used to seal cracks is still liquid a month later and sticks to peoples shoes and tracks in the house. 3 Cracks not sealed have plants coming up through them. I contacted derrick immediately and he said he'd take care of it. 30 days later NOTHING had been done. I called again and he asked for 2 more weeks to address the problem. Well, Time is up and I have had no contact with him. I have been patient with him, and tried to be accommodating, but I feel he took advantage of me. I paid him 1300 up front, with 1300 due on completion. days before job was complete, he called me to ask me for $1000 so he could pay his subcontractors. When I gave him my final $300, he wanted cash (I now see why!!!!). I WOULD NOT USE HIM AGAIN. I hired him based on positive Angie's list reviews, don't make the same mistake I did.

They excavated the bad areas of the drive, hot patched and rolled them making sure the grade was pitched away from the house. Then they filled the small cracks with crack filler and seal coated the whole drive. It looks like a new drive. Derrick was wonderful to work with. He always answered his phone, was flexible when I needed to reschedule and was very responsive to the fact that I needed this completed for a point-of-sale.

Contractor showed up on time with an adequate crew & equipment to do the job with minimal interruption to the business.

They were very responsive and cleaned up after themselves. I was very pleased. They were very professional.

I called 3 times to try & get an estimate to repair & reseal my driveway. I spoke with Derrick twice and he promised to come out the following Monday or Tuesday but never did nor did he call me vack as to why. If someone is this unreliable I won't use them. It may be the busy season but then don't promise to view & estimate costs.

Overall it went well. He was very polite when he gave me an estimate. I decided to go with him off of the strength of his Angie's List reviews. He did the job and I am pleased with the outcome. His men were polite and professional. I saw that he had included the sealing of the asphalt in some of the other jobs. Not mine. He did offer to come back in a few months and for $300 more, he would seal the driveway for me. That is the only disappointment, I would have liked to have that included like some of the other reviews.

They started by grading the whole driveway from garage to street. Then they took out about 3 feet at the garage and street level. Then they leveled the entire surface with something (I don't know what it was). After that they poured the asphalt then rolled it. First with a big driving roller, then with a smaller hand roller. In about six weeks, they are coming back to seal coat it. Our new driveway looks beautiful and Darrick and his crew finished in a half day. He did a fantastic job and anyone who wouldn't use him is getting less than a great deal.

Large crew was on time and fast. Returned to sealcoat the drive a day later, filling any gaps in asphalt/agregate surface. One year later the filled hole, where the tree used to be, has not sunk at all. Very courteous and very professional.

Fabulous! He showed up when he said he would and did a great job too. Both aspects are important. He also is such a gentleman and hard worker. I would highly recommend him

I already did a review for the paving. They came back and put a sealant on it. There was no additional cost because it was part of the service. I liked that they were concerned about getting it done before the weather turned bad. Even though I had paid them upfront, they did come back like they said they would. It looks great. I would definitely use them again.

I asked Derrick to come out and provide a set of estimates for both myself and my neighbor. He came promptly. My neighbor and I had several estimates for replacing our drives and decided that we wanted a less expensive alternative. So I asked Derrick to come back and provide an estimate to resurface with asphalt and to sealcoat in a couple of months. He came back the day after I called, provided an estimate to include both resurfacing and latter sealcoating and offered to do the work the next business day. His team coordinated my drive, another they had previously committed to do and my neighbors by staging the work quite efficiently. They even came back late in the day to clean up the pile of old, broken asphalt. It rained heavily the day after the resurfacing and my garage stayed bone dry. Rain had been getting in the garage for years! They got the grading right. I will definitely work with Discount Quality Paving again and plan to have them do my snow removal next Winter.

Estimate Derrick the owner - Answered my first phone call and I received an estimate less than 48 hours. Most paving companies only fill cracks and seal coat. I chose D-Quality Paving because I felt confident derrick was going to do a great job with "patching", a time consuming and labor intensive process. Service D-Quality Paving showed up on-time and Derrick the owner was present, along with his son DJ and Mario. Prep work: Most companies only blow the dirt of the driveway. Derrick trains his team to also edge the grass and other details around the driveway. Derrick also circles all items on the driveway his team needs to pay extra attention. This area's is were patching occurs, and the team did a spectacular job. When placing a layer of seal coat by hand, I liked how they used a broom versus a squeegee. The broom allows for a nice layer of seal coat to stick to the asphalt. The squeegee allows very little product to sit on the driveway. Overall: An excellent experience, and very happy with Derrick, DJ and Mario. They will be hired next year along with referrals to family and friends. Thanks again to D-Qaulity Paving! Steven

Derrick was very responsive. After the estimate, we agreed to a price and he started (and finsihed!) the very next day. His team members were very professional. HIgh quality work. Great job!

No complaints - the work was well done and finished in a timely manner.

Overall they did a very good job. The concrete finisher was absolutely fantastic. He was nice, and very professional. However, they were quite unpredictable in thier arrival and start times; and did not correctly estimate the amount of concrete needed for the job. Other than that, I am extremely pleased with the outcome of the work, and would recommend them to anyone.

the crue were professional and miticulous, they the work and little extrat thing(not included in the estimate for free), the price was very good and the job too. I recommande these guy .
