Dave's Electric

Overall it went well. It was extremely cold on the work day and Dave and his assistant worked from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the dark and frigid temperatures to get most of everything completed. They promptly came back the next day to complete what they could given then snow covered ground. While I did not know or understand completely what I was looking at, from what I could gather the work was done very well and very neat. They cleaned up after themselves and left the space cleaner than they found it! They even installed a complimentary new doorbell. Dave will try to upsell you on different services so be prepared for that - but he wouldn't be doing his job right if he didn't. I would hire him again.

David helped me trouble shoot an issue with our porch light and quickly figured out it was a fixture issue after assessing the switch and exterior fixture. He went above and beyond to educate me along the way about the switch, various wiring issues and fixtures. In about 15 minutes he had my porch light fixed. David also spend 30 minutes of his own time to explain various options for improving my kitchen lighting when I asked him his opinion. He was happy to go into as much detail as needed to explain the what and how of every option along with rough estimates of cost. Could not have been a better experience with David and he is definitely at the top of my list for any/all electrical needs in the future. I appreciate that he came over in the evening after work on my schedule and I would highly recommend him.

We called him on a Saturday and he came out the next day-Sunday-to take care of our problem. The repair went well.

They were prompt, professional, and very reasonably priced. Dave visited our office to give us an estimate and we had it installed by the next morning. They even cleaned up and swept our floor before leaving. Fantastic customer service.

They were really good and very quick.

After some miscommunication at the beginning, Dave installed all three of our light fixtures in a timely and professional manner. He manufactured a solution to properly install a pendant light in my kitchen that wasn't fitting properly. He was very professional and took the high road.

He is just a pleasure to work with. He was prompt, he worked with our schedule, and he did excellent work. He addressed some problems that he needed to go get parts for and come back to fix, which he also did promptly. He treated us with respect and was very professional. Everybody should be like him!

They are excellent at what they do and are very thorough with code laws. It did take a long time to get a schedule date out of them. You need to have thick skin though, because if you need to talk to them or ask a question, they act like you're being a pest. I would still recommend them to family and friends because of the quality of their work. You get what you pay for.

We called Dave in what we considered an emergency situation. (It was around 6pm today) We spoke to him & he said he needed to call back - which he did rather quickly. He then came to the house within the hour and found our problem! We would never have thought to look where the issue was... He found and fixed the problem and was on his way in less than an hour! Definitely put our minds at ease!!! And Very Reasonable price wise!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Will most certainly call him again and tell anyone we know who may need an electrician, about him!!!

Dave returned my call the day after I left a message. He was able to provided service that same day in a timely fashion. He opened circuit box and discovered that the 220 line for the dryer had been disconnected and that we needed an additional circuit breaker to reattach the wires. He had seen a local hardware store on his way to my home and suggested that I call them to see if they carried the part. I did so and they did have the part. He quickly drove over there, returned with the part and fixed the problem. The whole process took about 40 minutes. I asked him if he would be interested in doing some other work at another time. He took a quick look at the places I wanted to add additional electrical outlets and also checked the flickering light over my sink. His opinion was that the flickering light was due to the way the bulb was screwed into the socket. The light is still flickering and I think it is a faulty fixture that should be replaced. There wasn't really enough time for him to properly inspect the light so I don't fault him on that. He said he would email me a receipt for his services and that he would also include an estimate for installing the other outlets. It has been 5 days and I have not heard from him. Overall I was satisfied with the prompt, courteous service and the fee.

Dave's did very good work! They were prompt, responsive, and very professional. I was absolutely pleased!

I called Dave and he answered the phone in the evening after 7 pm. He made positive suggestions and asked me to call back at 10 pm if no service. After 9 pm he called me back and asked if he should come over, which he did. While the Illuminating Company fixed the problem from the pole, Dave was so excellent and responsive. I would definitely use him in the future and highly recommend him! We offered to pay him for his time and advice, but he refused our money. Now that's AAA customer service!

Dave stopped by Sunday April 27 and we reviewed my list and diagrams of the work I was interested in having done . He left with my list and the advice that he would get me an estimate in about the next 3 days. I contacted him a week later on May 6 asking if he could give me an idea of when I might get the estimate and he responded via e-mail that he would send in 2 days. It is now May 19, over 4 weeks later and I have received nothing. Hence, a grade of F for wasting my time.

Initially, we were postponed service for our appointment due to an emergency, but Dave's made good by coming the next day. The basement light was an easy fix, but the garage light had a buzzing and flickering symptom. In a short time, we thought the problem had been fixed. However, the next day, the flickering and buzzing were back. We called Dave's and that same day he returned and took care of everything. Apparently not only did we need new switches, but other services (which I really don't understand). Because Dave's had overlooked the cause of the flickering the first time out, he took full responsibility and charged us only for parts. Dave's Electric was punctual and professional. Everything was explained to us in great detail and they were very nice to deal with. I would not hesitate to use Dave's Electric in the future.

Called Dave's electric, and requested a quote to install 2 bathroom fans I had already purchaced (fans cost $77 each) . Received a call back from sam newman. He said it would be $350 to install each fan and $112 for parts for each fan so approximate cost is $900.00. I requested he come look at the job sight and explained there is already a fixture there. We made an appointment. He called me before the appointment and said it would be an extra $300.00 for the work permit and he was downtown now and do I want him to get a permit before he came. I told him I was not paying $1,200 for him to install the fans . He cancelled the appointment. and I'm glad he did.. I called a different company (NEO) they came out the next day and installed both fans for $281.00 within 2 hours.

He replaced all three lights and they appear to be working fine now.

Our attic required removal of old wiring for the purpose of reinforcing the floor joists. Dave came to our house, looked at the project and we agreed on a date and time for the work. Dave completed the work in a timely fashion and provided invaluable suggestions for future electrical and non electrical challenges.

Dave and his son Sam were helpful in the upfront planning with unsolicited but useful input. I did not negotiate their price, which I judged to be a fair one, and expected a professional job without a problem if conditions were to change for them on the job. I was not disappointed They worked to my schedule and were responsive to my needs when coordinating with other contractors. I did have an extra cost due to some changes they suggested, but the pricing was not unreasonable. Dave added a few extra cover plates and switches, and a utility light without charge. Rough in and most of the fixtures are now installed, and they will have to return when some work items to be installed by others are completed. All in all, I made a good decision to hire them, and the final proof will be their followup to complete their work when the tile and drywall patching is complete next month. I will followup and complete this evaluation after that and give my final rating.

I was having lots of problems with electrical at on of my houses. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. Dave came out to check out the situation. He suggested replacing the ceiling fan we had and installing a wall switch to control it. He also looked at the outlets in the bedrooms and said they looked like they were original to the house and suggested they be replaced. He quoted me a price of $200 for removing and installing a new ceiling fan and wall switch control unit. And he quoted $15 per outlet that he replaced. We ordered a new ceiling fan and when it arrived I contacted Dave to make arrangements for him to come out. We also decided we would like the ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms removed and replaced with a flush mount ceiling light. Arrangements were made that were convenient for me. Steve (?) arrived first. He went right to work . Later Dave arrived and began work on the bedroom outlets. They did a great job with the installations and cleaned up beautifully. All outlets are working and the wall switch for the ceiling fan and light is great. Dave was very quick to answer all my questions I had in layman's terms and I was very comfortable dealing with him. After dealing with some not so good contractors in the recent past it was nice to meet Dave and his son who were both very polite and knowledgeable about their work. Their work ethics and skills are unsurpassed. I definitely would use them again and I highly recommend Daves Electric.

Also repaired my DIY failed attempt at the project.

We called Dave's on Wednesday afternoon, and were told that we would get a call the next morning. On Thursday morning, around 8:30 AM, we received a call saying that Sam would be at the house in 30 minutes. He arrived, fixed the outlet, answered some electrical questions that we had, and was out the door in about 30 minutes. He was personable and professional.

On Monday night, my husband turned on the dryer and we heard a loud bang and saw arcing. Even though it was in the evening, we called Dave and not only did he answer, he came over later that night after normal hours to check it out. Water was coming in through the wall and had gotten into our outlet. While there and checking it out, he tighted one of our switches in our fusebox for free after noticing it was loose. We made arrangements for them to come back another evening to replace the outlet and at their suggestion move it up higher and mount it on wood to help avoid the water issue. His son came the next evening to complete the repair, including replacment of the dryer cord, as the plug had corroded from the water. This is the fourth time we've used this company, and can't say enough good things about them. They are very friendly, very knowledgeable, very reasonable in price and just go above and beyond in their level of service. We count ourselves very lucky to have found such a wonderful electrician. If you need electrical work, you should call call them without hesitation.

Smooth as silk is how it went! Dave Newman came promptly in response to our call regarding a flickering chandelier above the main staircase. He assessed the problem quickly, put together a game plan for the work to be done in a timely fashion, and even allowed a little scope creep as I remembered a door bell which had quit working, as well as a minor aesthetic issue with another chandelier. We have been satisfied customers for years and continue to be impressed by the manner in which Dave's Electric solves our problems. He and his staff are helpful in brainstorming options. I like the fact that they tell me what I need to know without inundating me with unnecessary details. That gives peace of mind that we're in capable hands and things will get handled in a professional way. `

After I realized I had power failure in one of our electrical circuits following the installation of blown-in insulation, I checked Angie's list for electrical contractor recommendations and contacted Dave's Electric because he was local and I felt he would know more about wiring in old houses. Sam came out within hours, but was unable to find the break in the line and suggested I get in touch with the insulation company to have them locate the break from where they were working that day. The insulation installers came out and found a probable spot. I called Dave back to repair the break but he said that was not the problem spot. I called the insulation company again and they returned and found the right spot. I called Dave back. He assessed the spot and said that Sam would be out the next morning to repair the break. Sam repaired the break with an up-to-code repair with minor damage to the inside wall of the house. Dave and Sam came out a total of four times and each time responded to my requests for help within a very short period of time. I feel the cost of the repair is very reasonable.

Very professional. Explained things thoroughly. Found nothing wrong with the electrical so did not charge me. If the need arises, I will definitely use him again.
