Dave's Electric

Dave was very responsive, was willing to come after I got home from work, and was able to effectively figure out the problem with the wiring in my old 1920's home that another electrician had been unable to fix. He was polite and professional and given the time it took to figure out the problem, the price was very reasonable. I would definitely employ his company again, especially for anything that was complicated and required his level of expertise.

They were on time and reasonably priced.

The story actually starts a full year earlier. We had a leaky exterior balcony that allowed rainwater and melting snow into our back kitchen wall. A heavy rainstorm in the middle of the winter caused a large amount of water to pour down the inside of our back kitchen wall, frying the circuit the exterior light was on, causing the circuit breaker to trip. Unfortunately, and unknown to us, EVERY room in the house except for our living room, a guest bedroom, the basement and the refrigerator were on the same circuit (who wired this house?) and we lost power to 80% of the house. We called a number of places, but because Dave keeps his phone on him at all times, he responded right away, and was able to come out the next day. He got the exterior light disconnected from the rest of the house, and did some rewiring as well to get things more balanced and more safe. After we finally got the back wall repaired some nine months later (I move slowly, fortunately, Dave does not), Dave came back out promptly to finish up the exterior lights, adding some new outlets and lights while we were at it. Dave was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and put up with all sorts of inane questions and mix-ups on my end, and we completely trust him with all of our electrical needs. He even recommended a repairman to get our back wall fixed as well. Our house would be a lot darker without Dave.

David started by giving an overall assessment of the wiring in the house. He spent a good part of 1 hr going through the house to make sure he could give us a solid assessment of the problem areas in our home. We have an older home with knob and tube wiring and wanted an experts take on how the wiring was holding up. We explained to him our future projects in the house and how long we plan on living there and together we mapped out the necessary upgrades that should take place in the house. Using his knowledge and assessment we went with his recommendations and could not be happier. Both him and his son Sam did an excellent job on the house and we would highly recommend them to others. We appreciate their work and will have them back in the future for our future upgrades.

Called during the holidays; he responded quickly. The issue was resolved and options were given to illiminate future electrical problems.

Our outside outlet stopped working. We called on Friday, and Dave gave us a rough estimate over the phone. He came out Monday and found both outlets were not working. He not only fixed our outlets, he was able to provide covers for them to help keep them from getting the corrosion the old ones had. He also brought them up to current code. He was very friendly and helpful, and our final price was within his original quote for just doing the one outlet. We were very pleased with his service and would totally call again for any electrical issues.

The man who came out was quite professional and the work was well-done.

Came to fix loose and non-functioning outdoor floodlight. Advised that the installation, done by a handyman several years earlier was not to code and was actually dangerous. Worked out a plan for replacement of the system and installed over the course of two days.

Excellent. Dave and his son Sam are very professional and warm human beings who also happen to be excellent electricians/craftsmen. Dave took a holistic approach to evaluating my needs and offered his own suggestions. I felt very comfortable having them in my home. They were considerate. The left my home as clean as when they arrived. They communicated well and responded promptly to my phone calls or e-mails.

Dave was the second of four electricians I had evaluate my home for a major electrical upgrade. He brought the safety issues about Federal Pacific electrical panels to my attention. He made a number of helpful suggestions to functionally improve my plans for lighting and electrical in the garage. His price was competitive. The work was done by his son and himself in a timely and professional manner. I am pleased with the results.

I chose the company based on it's super service award. I was given an estimate by phone and my name and info was taken at that time. He seemed very service oriented and knowledgeable about what I needed done. I was told I'd be called back for scheduling a date for the work. A few days later, I called again, and he was apologetic and told me he'd have to call me back later in the day to check his calendar. He did call back, and we were able to schedule the work within a day or two. I was told he'd be here "around noon", which was good, because I had to leave the house around 3:30. On the day of the service, no one had arrived by 1:30, nor had I received a phone call, so I called and was told that someone was on the way. At 2:30, he finally arrived, and I was worried the work might not get done by the time I had to leave. However, the work was done quickly and with courtesy. The ceiling fan looks nice and works well, and I love the dimmer that controls both. I would work with this company again, despite the initial scheduling/punctuality issues because I think they did a great job in an efficient manner. I was not given a receipt that day, but I was emailed a detailed invoice.

Dave came when he said he would, and that was eight at night. We were really gratefull that he came so soon. He was very pleasant to work with and figuring out the switch was really not that easy for us. We would use him again when we need him.

I called to have an electrician replace fixtures and switches. Dave was prompt in his first call and promised to get back in a few days with an estimate and to schedule the work. One week later Dave called and I spoke with him. He promised that in the next week he would have a written estimate to me. It has been three weeks from our initial meeting and I have yet to have an estimate delivered or further contact from Dave. I cannot recommend someone that doesn't even follow through with the promise of an estimate.

Dave's Electric had performed exceptional work for us a month prior. (6-18-08 report). While they worked, we discussed installing an air conditioner. However, the strategic location we considered was going to cause an installation problem since it is on the second floor. Sam had built units in the past and offered his services. Since we were familiar with his electrical work ehtic and carpentry skills from the prior job, it was easy to select him for the job. After the finalizing verbal agreement, Sam came over one weekday evening and built a custom unit for our air conditioner. Unfortunately, it was a hot, humid night. Nonetheless, Sam stayed until the job was completed and the air conditioner was placed properly in the window. His professionalism and patience were admirable. In a capsule: Sam is a jack of all trades, and his workmanship will always be appreciated. I will not hesitate to utilize Dave's Electric and/or Sam in the future.

I was very pleased with the electrical work performed in my kitchen from start to finish. He fixed my problem quickly and once the job was completed, cleaned up afterwards (left my kitchen neat). I will use them again for any future jobs.

He and Sam placed 10 lights. They carefully measured and analyzed our lighting needs all while consulting and providing education. Once we were happy with the design, they mapped out our ceiling and performed the work exactly as discussed. With these jobs, there is a lot o dust and debris from ceiling drywall cuttings, however we saw none of this. When we came home in the evening, the lights were up and the room was spotless.

I have employed this electrician for work in the past and because this company responds promptly, provides EXCELLENT workmanship, and is reasonably priced, I hired Dave's Electric again for the work I needed at this property. I was impressed by the cleanliness of each bedroom after the fans were installed because I know he had to get inside the plaster ceiling. When I checked the rooms I could not find a spec of plaster anywhere and the cost of this job was lower than I expected. My philosphy: when you find a reliable company...stick with them!

Dave and Sam are terrific. We had an electrical fire (outdoors) -- I checked Angie's list, hoping to find someone who would return my call. Dave answered the phone (even though it was 5:15 pm), came out the same day and did some temporary rewiring in order to restore service (our phone line was on this circuit) -- he did this with a flashlight after dark. He suggested a couple of solutions -- which he called the next day to refine. The day after, Sam was here, did all the fixes, including some aesthetic revisions (about which he was very patient) and all is well.

Everything went well, work done well, professional service, easy to work with, trustworthy.

Excellent. They were extremely professional and the work they did was perfect. They were diligent in cleaning up the work area when finished and I think they actually left our garage floor is a cleaner state then they found it!

I called him and he would put me on hold or tell me he would call me back. He never did. I felt that I was chasing after him. He said he would get back to us by email but he never did. We ended up giving up on him. He ended up emailing us later on, but we still decided not to use him. He was a nice guy, but not very responsive.

He responded promptly to my emergency and fixed the problem quickly. He was friendly and competent.

Dave (1) is highly competent; (2) extremely communicative -- he describes in detail what is going to do and what he has done; and (3) extremely responsive -- he follows up if he hasn't heard from you and is willing to communicate by both phone and email, which is very convenient. I have definitely found my electrician and I intend to stick with him. I would recommend him to anyone on the east side of Cleveland.

I'd had a problem over Labor Day with lights dimming and partial power failure. I wanted him to check things out. When he inspected the electrical panel, he discovered a badly corroded main circuit breaker. This was an usafe condition, so he rearranged his schedule to get to my house to do the work as soon as possible. He was there the very next day to remove the old damaged box and install a complete new electrical box and breakers. He got our power hooked up to be usable that day,then came back a few days later to finish things up. He even provided a printed sheet labeling all the circuit breakers, and also pointed out another electrical problem I didn't know I had when we had new furnace ductwork installed. I was glad he was able to do the work so quickly. The city had given me his name 10 years ago when I needed some electrical work done, as he is one of their registered contractors. The city inspectors approved his work and indicated they never have a problem with any of his work. Dave gave me a copy of the inspectors report to keep.
