My best endorsement for Dave's electric is that I have hired them over and over again for electrical work at two different properties. As a property owner I have learned that you have to get the "right" people if you want good work and I have also learned that usually, you get what you pay for! Going the cheap route costs more in the long run.
Description of Work: For my 2nd floor bathroom remodel (totally gutted to the studs and joists, even the ceiling) Sam Neuman rewired the bathroom for it's new configuration, installed the new ceiling exhaust fan and a light inside the new shower, installed the new switches and recepticals for the new light over the sink, installed a new and larger basement breaker box and rewired certain areas of the basement, installed new electric outlets in the dining room, kitchen, living room, and downstairs bathroom, installed new undercabinet lighting in my kitchen, and finally, installed new exterior electrical outlets on the back & side of my house for outdoor power equipment. I knew they were excellent electricians but I discovered that Sam Neuman is a very skilled carpenter as well. Sam "sistered" & strengthened every "wobbly" floor joist (used carriage bolts...very strong!) in my 100 year old bathroom floor and made the floor close to perfectly level for the new bath fixtures. He built the new partition wall between my tub and toilet (built it in my garage, carried it upstairs, and it fit like a glove!) Sam installed the new bathroom floor as well using 3/4 inch plywood.

My husband and I only use Dave as our electrician. You can't beat the service, profesionalism and education he provides. Our last call to Dave's Electric was concerning installing a ceiling fan and fixing a light switch. Sam, Dave's son, came out and performed the work. He is always pleasant, polite and neat. The fan works great! Initially, we didn't tell him about the light switch when we made the appointment. He had no problem adding the extra job onto his visit. If you want an electrician that's going to do it right the first time, call Dave.
Description of Work: Sam installed a ceiling fan in my daughter's room and fixed a light switch that was installed improperly.

A year ago, he placed the entire electrical panel for me. The last time he did work for me, he charged $1000. He was fine. He was efficient. He gave me a good price. It was easy to schedule with him. I will use him again in the future.

Great Guy, great knowledge and what he says rings of honesty.
Description of Work: I called Dave in the morning and lo and behold, he told me he would stop by within the next two hours. In little more than a half and hour he was at my home. He figured out what the problem was and told me he would be back the next day with the parts. Exactly twenty three hours late he returned (he called first) with the part. He finished the work in about fourty five minutes. And he even checked out another electrical problem I had and didn't charge me.

I left a message for Dave, and he immediately called back leaving me a message, When I called a second time, we set up an appointment. At the appointment Dave removed debris and prepared the outlet and returned the next day and installed the new outlet. He was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable.

My family was very pleased with this team effort. They were professional in every way and explained what they were going to so we would better understand the changes to be made. On completion, Dave provided a short review of the breaker box, how to re-set it and how to track down the source of future power failures. This team cleaned up completely after the job and answered all questions that we had before leaving. We would use Dave's Electric, in an instant, for our future electrical needs and will recommend them to our friends and neighbors. They have both the knowledge and skill to tackle complex electrical jobs.
Description of Work: The services performed from start to finish were first rate. Dave and son arrived on time at 8:30 AM and stayed until the job was completed at 7 PM. The tasks to be done included the replacement of my old fuseboxs with a new circuit breaker box, re-wiring and consolidating the wiring to the new box, creating new outlets for the refrigerator, microwave, washer, dryer and a backyard outdoor outlet. In addition, the pipe and wiring coming into the house from the CEI pole was replaced as well as the installation of a new meter. Father and son worked as a team with Dave doing the inside box while Sam did the outside electrical updates as well as the new outlets both inside and out. This way, the substantial amount of work was able to be completed in one long day. Early on, Sam hooked-up a temporary line to keep our refrigerator running to avoin any food spoilage. On completion, instructions on the new box and how to find the source of future electrical problems were discussed.

Very well. He had to call the spa manufacturer to make sure things were wired correctly. He also had to coordinate with a landscaper for prep work and when spa delivered for hook up. It was a loong process, but I was very pleased overall. He added some sensor lighting in the yard that he didn't charge me for. I will hire him again.
Description of Work: I had electrical work done in preparation for installing a spa in my backyard. He had to add a new 220 line, run wiring under ground, hooked electrical to spa, added GFI to and light fixtures in garage and yard. Installed new breaker box in basement.

Called Dave early in the morning and he came by in the afternoon, when he said he would. He asked questions during our morning phone conversation so that he might have the right replacement parts, if needed. Once onsite, Dave quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced the faulty circuit breaker (he had the correct part). While diagnosing our current problem (looking for the root cause rather than just trying to fix the symptom) he pointed out some issues with our electrical configuration that he thought I should be aware of. These are observations that I can easily verify, but not having the expertise of a skilled electrician, I would have no reason to know. I appreciated these observations very much and noted them. Dave has a penchant for doing things the right way. With a keen eye and logical thinking, Dave is a natural problem solver. He even took some extra time to discuss other issues that I am having with other aspects of our home, advising me about what he could and leaving me with names and phone numbers for the other topics. I look forward to having Dave and his crew work on our subsequent electrical project(s).

Dave responded quickly to my telephone call and had his son with whom he works come out to the house later that same day. After one look at the light fixture it was determined it needed to be replaced due to its age and the problem. This was done on the spot and without any problem. I would hire this company again.

We were experiencing a problem with our alarm monitoring system: the CO detector was experiencing a fault which caused it to emit a shrill beep every 10 minutes; this had begun the evening before, and continued throughout the night into the next morning - no one slept much. When we contacted our security company, they stated that they were overbooked due to the long holiday weekend, and would not be able to stop by to service the device until several days later; we were going crazy. I sent an e-mail message to Mr. Neuman, asking, if he happened to be in our neighborhood that day, could he bring his tall ladder (the device was mounted about 12 feet up a hallway wall) and see if he could, at the least, disable the detector for us. He called, promised to stop by in between clients, did so, and was able to reset the device so it no longer emited that horrible sound. What a relief! Also, Mr Neuman informed me that the security company should have been contacting me annually to perform a maintenance inspection on the system they installed; which they had not been doing, yet I had been paying for that service. He was a wonderful advocate. AND, he did not charge me anything thing for his time, work, or advice. Mr. Neuman has been our family's electrician since approximately 1998, and we can't say enough about how much we trust his work, his input, his character.

This is an owner-occupied multi-family home so it is doubly important that contractors work quickly, without much mess and/or noise, and are consciensious of others, all of which they did/were. The project also had several stages with several months sometimes passing between each. Dave and Sam were extremely organized in their notes, never forgetting a detail of what needed to be done next. They were also able to provide some insight as to best practices, which we really appreciated.
Description of Work: Work done on home built in 1915: Upgraded panel box to add central air - installed all outlets and ceiling lights in basement that was being finished as media room - installed fixtures in basement 1/2 bath - upgraded outlets on first floor - added exterior security lights

He was truly a pleasure to deal with. If your ratings permitted A+, I would have checked that.
Description of Work: An outside light and awning motor were not working. I had already checked circuit breakers and GFIs & bulb. Dave rechecked all the obvious. Then he removed covers, found the wiring problem, and fixed it. He came exactly when he said he would and even fixed my non functioning side door bell on his way out. All was done very professionally and at a most reasonable price.

Dave was in the area when I called him so he literally came over to my house within 15 minutes of my initially calling him. My father, who is fairly skilled at electrical work, was stumped and concerned about the fact that the switch had 220 volts running to it. The switch had caused several lightbulbs to burn out. Dave corrected the problem and we were very satisfied.

They did a great job. They told us who to tak to to get the lines outside upgraded, they checked all our outlets to amke sure they worked and fixed anything that didn't. They put GFI outlets in areas that needed the kind of grounding that isn't available with knob and tube wiring

We were going to blow in insulation in the attic to cut energy consumption. The company doing the insulation told us the old recessed lights we had needed to be replaced. I called Dave for an estimate. He came out the same day I called. He advised us to keep the old lights and warned us of possible complications that would come with replacing them. He also showed us how to make the lights do a better job of lighting the rooms. He then told us how to make the old lights safe and compatible with new insulation.

This is the second time we used this company. I found them on this list a couple of years ago after we had work done by a different company. I love these guys. They came when they said they would, did the work and gave us recommendations (some of which included,"Don't spend money when you don't have to."). They were professional and personable. We've had renovations done before so I can tell you a contractor who does what they say will and is reasonably priced is considered a Godsend. I would definitely use them again.
