Our inspection was scheduled to begin promptly at 3:00 pm, it did not begin until after 4:00 pm. My significant other (SO) had taken a half a day of PTO from work to be present and both our agent and myself had appointments after the inspection to get to. The fact that the inspection began over an hour later made both of us late to our appointment and my SO could have worked a full day without wasting his PTO. When the inspector was 15 minutes late I called the office to report his tardiness. As no one answered the phone I left a message which was returned a few moments later that "He might have hit some traffic, he will be there any minute!". Foolishly I believed this. Another 15 minutes passed, I placed another call only to be told that "There was a glitch in our computer system, we sent him to the house you previously intended to purchase. He knows he went to the wrong home and is on his way, give him a few more minutes." (Side-note: the home we preciously intended to purchase is 10 minutes away from our current home) Yet another 15 minutes passed by, the inspector was not there. My SO insisted "maybe he hit traffic, lets give him a few more moments", which is when my cellphone rang, it was the inspector. He was lost. I gave the phone to my SO, irritated beyond belief at the situation. He gave the inspector directions to the home, he arrived another 10 minutes later. Turns out the secretary gave the inspector THE WRONG ADDRESS. He had been driving up and down the same street for some minutes before he called the office to get my phone number. When the inspector entered the home, he immediately apologized and said "it wasn't my fault." He continued to explain that he "arrives a half hour early to all his appointments to fill out paper work. And thought we were running late so he waited 10 minutes past the start date for us. Then re-reading the paper work saw he was sitting outside a RANCH STYLE home and our home is a SPLIT-LEVEL STYLE". "That's when I called and found that I was at the wrong house, so I tried to plug the new address in my GPS and it didn't come up. I called back and they gave me directions to the wrong place, and then I called you". It was only after hearing his 'explanation' (I would call it an excuse) that he began the inspection, all the while apologizing and insisting it "wasn't my fault". The man (Jack was his name) was very knowledgeable once the inspection began and we were very pleased with his thorough inspection, suggestions and explanation of everything. When it came time to sign the papers, I had to rush to sign my name and my SO stayed with our agent and Jack to finish everything. When I spoke to my SO later that evening he informed me Jack offered no discount for the tardiness, which is when I called to office to tell them about our not so happy experience. Michelle 'apologized' (I would call this an excuse as well) saying: "I'm so sorry that happened, but we couldn't help that the computer glitched. In these situations we offer a $25 rebate. I can get that check in the mail for you first thing in the morning." I accepted and said my goodbyes. It should be noted I have yet to receive that check and have no intentions of calling them back to ask for a measly $25 after everything we went through (i.e. myself and agent being late to appointments and my SO having to take a half day of PTO). I was recommended to Castle by a family friend, who was informed of our experience. I would not recommend Castle to any family or friends because I feel as though my time, my SO's time and my agent's time was not taken into consideration.
