Mike did a lot of work for me previously, and I thought he was a solid businessman. Suddenly, Captain Handy doesn't return any of my calls or respond to my letters. Work is unfinished and the leak still exists. Captain Handy has turned out to be a complete fraud.
Description of Work: Roof repair and replacement. Some wood was replaced and new shingles were obtained. There was supposed to be a gutter guard, which was never installed. Measurements were taken for an insurance claim, but the estimate was never completed. Follow-up work was never completed.

The contract read several things that were and weren't done. They never found a seat that fit right for my toilet after throwing out the toilet seat that we had. My son had to work on the oversized toilet seat that they left me to get it to fit. They broke out the wood that held the fixture that I lock the window with. They said it was easy to fix and would send their best worker. After I threatened them by going to the BBB, they came back to fix the problem 6 weeks later. They lied to me when they said they'd send someone out to fix the problem because it didn't happen until I threatened them. They didn't do some of the things in the contract.
Description of Work: Paint 1 room and plaster.

A 4 DAY JOB TOOK 2 1/2 WEEKS. GAVE THEM 1,000 DOWN FOR A 2,000 JOB BECAUSE THEY WERE VERY BUSY. TERRIBLE PAINTING JOB, THEY HAD DRIPS EVERYWHERE. THEY HAD TO REPLACE 2 OF MY WINDOW SHADES. WHEN I CALLED THEM, THEY WOULD COME OUT AND DO A LITTLE MORE. I MADE MY FINAL PAYMENT ON 9/20/05 AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY RECEIPT. THEY DID AN EXCELLENT JOB ON THE FLOOR. THE OWNER DID A GOOD JOB, BUT HIS WORKERS DID NOT DO A GOOD JOB. HE WAS VERY POLITE AND TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF HIS CREW.

OVERALL I WAS VERY VERY PLEASED WITH HIS WORK. I THINK THE PRICE WAS FAIR. MY INSURANCE ADJUSTER SAID THAT SOME THINGS IN THE HOME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT CAPTAIN HANDY'S PEOPLE SAID IT WAS NOT NECESSARY, BUT THEY WOULD DO THE WORK IF I WANTED. I APPRECIATE THAT. I WILL USE THEM AGAIN
Description of Work: REPLACED CRACKED BEAMS IN THE GARAGE, RE-INFORCED ALL BEAMS, REMOVED GARAGE DOOR AND CORRECTED SAGGING ROOF, CLEARED OUT GUTTER AND DRAIN PIPE TO STOP LEAK, CHECKED TOP OF ROOF AND REPAIRED. REPLACED TWO DOORBELLS INSIDE HOME. REPAIRED HOLE AROUND ELECTRICAL OUTLET.

MIKE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL IN HIS WORK, AND YET VERY FRIENDLY AND POLITE. HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING AS HE WORKED. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE QUALITY OF HIS WORK AND PLAN TO USE HIS SERVICES AGAIN WHEN I HAVE SOMETHING TO BE DONE. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM HIGHLY. FOR THE WORK DONE, THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE.
Description of Work: CLEANED GUTTERS AND REPAIRED WHERE NEEDED. REMOVED ROTTING BOARD FROM THE THRESHOLD OF ONE DOOR AND PUT IN A NEW ONE. MOVED FRAME OF SECURITY DOOR SO LOCK WOULD FIT. ATTACHED LOOSE GUTTER ON GARAGE.

THE CONTRACTORS OF CAPTAIN HANDY WERE EXTREMELY POLITE, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND MADE MY PROJECT SEEM SIMPLE.
Description of Work: I HAD AN ABUNDANCE OF CITY VIOLATIONS WHICH WERE QUICKLY BECOMING PAST DUE. I NEEDED A COMPANY THAT I FELT COULD HANDLE ALL THE TASKS, SO I DID NOT HAVE TO HIRE SEVERAL DIFFERENT COMPANIES. I HAVE USED CAPTAIN HANDY IN THE PAST, WHICH IS WHY I CALLED THEM FOR THIS PROJECT. CAPTAIN HANDY NOT ONLY COMPLETED ALL THE VIOLATIONS, BUT THEY WORKED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE CITY ON MY BEHALF, WHICH MADE THIS PROJECT EXTREMELY SIMPLE, AND THEIR PRICES WERE VERY REASONABLE. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK WHICH WAS PERFORMED. THEY WERE VERY PROMPT, CLEAN AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY PULLED ALL PERMITS AND PAPERWORK NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE UPGRADE.
