We have used them for about 8 and a half years now, they're very good. Pete is fantastic.
Description of Work: We had new motors put in to the furnace, they do 6 months checkup for air conditioning and furnace unit. They put in new initiator motors. They kept our air conditioner up to date and they added refrigerants for us as well.

The technician arrived an hour past the window given without informing me he would be late. He then told me there would be a diagnostic fee, which I was not aware I was going to be charged since I had requested an estimate and was not under the impression that this was a "service call" for a "repair" as the tech explained. He also mentioned that the office often does not correctly explain that an estimate for this service requires the diagnostic (and the fee). I was hesitant at first but I do need the work done, and the tech said the diagnostic fee was standard with this type of work, which I have also heard. Initially he was very doubtful it could be moved and questioned why I wanted to move it, then he looked around and said it could probably very easily be done. It got off to a rocky start, as the tech was late and I was not expecting a diagnostic fee, but it ended alright.

It was very shaky at first but got better towards the end. They had to come out five times before the issue got resolved. The first tech that they sent out was Christian he told me that the problem was that my unit needed to be clean. I accepted his recommendation to clean the unit before he even left I knew the unit was not fixed because it was still blowing warm air . I pushed him on the issue and explained that the unit was still blowing warm air and my problem still wasn't solved. He then stated that the unit needed to be running for a couple of hours before it would start to cool down. I told him that doesn't make much sense at all but what do I know I don't know much about HVAC so I took his word for it . About two days later when the weather was warmer my house was about 78* inside with the AC running. I called and that's when I got Angela who was not pleasant at all I explained to her my compliant but she kept trying to tell me it would be another service charge after going back and forth the manager abruptly got on the phone and said very rudely their would not be another service call. I also spoke with Donna at one point and she was very pleasant and professional. I told them to not send Christian because I did not have much faith in him that he could actually fix my problem. The next technician to come out was Pete the general manager. He was wonderful and understood my concerns and diagnosis what the problem was. Turns out the coil needed replaced and some valve that helps control the temperature in the coil or something like that. Either way it sounded like he knew what he was talking about. After the parts came in they sent Ken he too was so wonderful I can not say enough good things about Ken. He was prompt on time and put 150% into fixing the problem. I thought I was good to go however that was short lived . I went on vacation for about 2 weeks and when I came home it worked for a couple of days and went back to not cooling down. I forgot to mention for all the problems they offered me a discount which made me pretty happy. I called BTU and got Angela again who was very nice and pleasant and very apologetic. They sent out Pete again and he fixed it again turns out the coil was bad but under warranty so they replaced and my house has been cool ever since then. In the beginning I would have rated very low but towards the end I was happy with the service. All I ever wanted was my air to be fixed and working right. I would use them again.
Description of Work: My air conditioning unit would not cool my house down to the desired temperature. The unit would just blow warm air. My neighbor had a similar problem and recommended BTU come out since they worked on their unit.

This company's attention to detail was amazing. Everything was done professionally and clean up like they were never there. Amazing was that the owner of the company was always available for questions and visited and inspected the job to insure it was up to his specifications. I can't say enough about the quality workmanship of this company.
Description of Work: Last fall removed a 25 year old existing system and installed a top of the line energy efficient HVAC whole house system with humidifier.

I had a 20 year old furnace and A/C units removed and new, energy efficient units installed. A few months before that (in March 2011) my old hot water tank went bad and they came right out and replaced it. Everything was installed with absolute professionalism. The units work excellent and if I ever have any issues, all I have to do is call and someone will come out right away. To keep the units running at their optimum, I have them serviced 1x each year. The technician is always professional and courteous and spends ample time getting the job done right.

The owner did show up in a hour. Problem turned out to be a clog in water hose. He also cleaned out my furnace and gave me coupons for future service calls which I KNOW I will use. Great work!!
Description of Work: was having issues with my humidifier and called several other places on Angies list. All said the earliest they could come out would be next week. Called BTU and they said the same, but since I was close to their office, someone could be out here in an hour!

Cannot go solely on their opinion. I was told I needed a new thermostat. I had another Heating and cooling company come for a second opinion and estimate, and he said I did not need a thermostat. That did proove to be true, everything is working fine. My house I recently bought is under a one-yr home warranty. The heat wasn't coming out warm, and AC wasnt working. Found out the freeon had a leak, all he was allowed to do was fill it. Not repair it,. He kept looking at his watch when I asked questions, and said hes on the clock, this is costing money, every minute I'm here. He also wanted to charge me from the time he called and was on his way to my house (an extra 25 min) but I put up one heck of a arguement, there was no way I was gonna go for that!
Description of Work: The service tech replaced freeon and redid wiring, that was incorrect and causing both heat and AC to work against each other.

I would like to apologize for the service you received. I can let you know that the tech has been counseled on the service call in question. We do not operate like this. Also, if you have a home warranty, you only pay your deductible. As long as the system has been maintained, they pay for the repairs. Time is not an issue to you, only to the warranty company. As for the Freon, they only let us fill it up on the first trip, unless it is completely empty. If we need to return for the same issue, we have to do a leak search on the system. I did not know anything about this service call until I read the review on Angie's list. Did you call to speak to me about it?

I have worked with this company for almost 5 years. They serviced and maintained an existing heating system in the home that was in the home when I bought it. The existing furnace was old, and incorrectly installed. They managed to keep it "alive" for almost 5 years. When the old furnace no longer operated, they installed a new Crown boiler that is more efficient. Although their at still some bugs to work out, I am pleased with the equipment and and the company's quick response to my concerns. I also maintain a monthly service contract with this company so that when I have a problem with my heating equipment, their calls and repairs including any needed parts are automatically covered. This is very convenient. As part of my purchase agreement for the new heating equipment, the offered me this service free for two years. The boiler is is under warranty for one year with an option to add a year. This is a win-win situation for me and for the company.
Description of Work: I purchased and they installed a Crown Boiler in my home. I also subscribe to a monthly servce contract with this company.

approximately in 2006, I had a problem with my furnace and used my home warranty program to have it serviced. The home warranty program sent BTU to service the furnace. BTU determined a new thermostat was needed and replaced it quickly. I was very pleased with their promptness and service. They were courteous and very knowledgeable. I continued to use the Company's annual service agreement which provided for service of the heating and a/c twice year. Service was affordable and completed in a timely manner. It is a pleasure to do business with them.
Description of Work: I first used the Company to service a problem with the furnace (not sure of the actual service date). The problem was diagnosed as needing a new thermostat.

Total professionals from start to finish. Installation and repair work went very smoothly and was done on time with no surprises. Company explained all the available options clearly. House was spotless when they were finished.

Description of Work: BTU comfort Solutions was great. We replaced most of the duct work in the house and replaced the entire furnace. Tom the sales person was very good in explaining everything and designed a system that would give us the most for the cost. They by far was the most reasonable estimate. We got quotes from 4 other HVAC companies which wanted to charge us double of what BTU charged. BTU staff and service people were extremely professional, courteous and left our basement very clean. I would highly recommend this company over any other HVAC company. My husband and I have had allot of work done on our house and this is the first company that I felt very happy with there product and work. CD

BTU's technician (Rhyms) made two visits to our home. The first visit involved diagnosing the problem and paying the $60 deductible. The previous installer failed to braze the lines properly causing the oil abd R410 freon to leak out and caused a low voltage short circuit. Rhyms did not have the equipment and materials to make the repairs. Rhyms returned June 14 to make the repairs, reload the R410 freon and test the lines. It took approximately 90-minutes to complete the repairs and test the lines. I did not have to pay the $600 bill due to to the poor craftsmanship on the original installer and unit is covered by an Home Warranty policy. I gave BTU Solutions a "B" rating on QUALITY because Rhyms did not re-install the ceiling tiles he removed on the first visit.
Description of Work: First visit, analyze the problem on a "NEW" air condition installed August 10, 2010. Second visit, re-braze the lines, test lines for leaks and replaced low voltage wiring.

I have a contract with them and I had to pay only for the Freon. They replaced our furnace last winter. They were much better than the other company that we used. I don’t have any complaints at all about this company. The person that came out last time was really nice and very good. I was the last one at night and they still came to me around 6.30 at night. I was impressed because our air conditioning wasn’t working and it was hot. It was very nice of them to work late. They went out of their way to make to my house that day because the weather was bad. I have used them several times.

They seem to be the only company so far that I have found that knows how to work on my boiler system effectively. They can fix one thing without breaking another and I really like that. I have a maintenance contract so I spend about $20 per month.

We wanted/needed to replace our HVAC system. We contacted this contractor for an estimates because it is an authorized dealer for the HVAC equipment we wanted and had a A- BBB rating and an Angie's list A rating. We were not comfortable with BTU's sales representative presentation - Rick Amador. We identified our needs/wants. He insisted that we provide access to all rooms in our home so he could measure the dimensions - he insisted that his boss required him to do so. I informed him that I had done our home's heat loss calculations using the accepted industry manual and was a graduate engineer. We reluctantly agreed. We still regret this decision. None of the other qualified contractors who provided estimates 'required' this. We found this 'requirement' to be needlessly intrusive. We also felt some of his questions were intrusive and not relevant to providing a quote. We felt he crossed the line from being friendly to being nosy. The price quote he provided was competitive to ones we obtained from other authorized dealers. He saw the sticker from the company that installed our current HVAC and did our maintenance. He informed that he had previously worked there and ventured that we were therefore familiar with maintenance agreements. He said BTU has a similar program and presented me with a service agreement application. I found this puzzling since the two important parts of this agreement call a free precision tune up and a 20% discount on repairs. We were contracting for a new HVAC system with a 10 year equipment parts and labor warranty. We felt, at the very least, that some of these paid services were redundant. We, therefore, immediately decided we were more comfortable with other contractors.

Don was very professional, clean and informative! He comes on the house call with an identification badge, and he even uses boot covers when he comes into the home as to keep the environment clean! He was very helpful and informative on the mainenance and upkeep needed to prevent problems in the future. He was very fair with his costs and even had several maintenace programs to choose from for future house calls. I would recommend his company to all. I was very satisfied with his company's service!
Description of Work: Don VanHorn made a call to clean my oil furnace and check over to see if my heating system was working properly, giving me an overall service check and maintenace. He also found I needed a part for my furnace and ordered it immedietely and was out the following morning bright and early to install.
