After several days of continous rain, water began dripping through the ceiling of one the bedrooms. The sales rep came out the next day and examined the roof while it was still raining. Upon inspection, another second leaking area found, along with weak boards. The following day, tarps were placed over the roof to prevent further damage until the replacement could be done. On the day of the installation, the crew arrived and began to work immediately. The worked the first day until they ran out of natural daylight. The next morning, the crew was back first thing in the morning to complete the job. At the end of both work days, the area around the house was cleaned up of all debris. The crew was courtesy and professional. I would not hesitate to hire them again.
Description of Work: Replace roof -- included stripping off old roof, replaced some boards, installed new shingles.

The estimator, Paul was prompt and explained the whole proceedure very clearly. My only complaint is that the company called on a Friday saying that the job would start the following day, but no one ever showed. I called Paul who said he would look into this and the installers came the next day, Sunday to at least start the job. No leaks have been observed so far, but it is winter.

The guys came and did what they were supposed to do. They did take frequent breaks in the shade and the foreman made sure to tell me they did so because it was a very hot day and they didn't want to take chances. We haven't had any problems with the roof since.

While I did not ultimately choose Absolute Roofing there were an extremely close second. Absolute came out and gave me a professional quote quickly and I appreciated their responsiveness in giving me a quote. Ultimately I want with a 2 man team that was cheaper and who I felt would do close to as good of a job. I would definitely call Absolute again on a larger job where I feel they would be very competitive.

We had a very good experience with Absolute Roofing. The salesman was helpful when spacesheeting was discovered and worked with our insurance company to include it in our hail damage claim. The crew came every day except for one when there was inclement weather. The crew's foreman was great. He was very easy to communicate with and very thorough. The crew was polite, professional, and cleaned up well. The foreman even removed some of the static vents when we decided after they were installed that we didn't like how they looked on the front of the roof. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: We had a complete roof tear-off and installation of a new roof. This included: tear off of 3 layers of roofing material and haul away of debris, installation of 30 lb felt, installation of ice water shield, plywood to cover space sheeting, installation of drip edge, rake edge metal, flashing, and static roof vents.

Chris was professional, courteous, and punctual. It only took a week to get an appointment. Chris was thorough in his explanation of the problems in layman's terms. He answered my questions. He took a great deal of time with me, which I appreciated along with his friendliness. I received an estimate by email within a few days of the appointment. It was detailed with all aspects of the labor and parts. I felt their estimate was fair, that is, within the ball park of what I would have been able to spend for the job. I did not select the company as I had other estimates come in that were less and that the job could be completed within a day or two, which was important due to the nature of the problem.
Description of Work: Chris came out to take a look at a leak I had resulting from my roof and also repairing the damaged area inside the house. He also looked at the overall condition of my roof.

The roof look fantastic. But company not good with customer service--which is key when you spend this amount of money. Attention to details are lacking--left a number of tools at my property hanging from the gutters. Had to call to find out if they finished the job--was told that the final walk around took place and everything was fine. Everything was not fine--nails extended from the gutters. Down Spouts not reattached to home like found. Did not put wires back like found to satellite dish and a number of other little annoying thing. Had to call a number of times for them to finish the details that was not completed when I got the all clear from the walk around. Was to clean the gutters as part of the job--could clearly see from second floor windows that was not done. My present gutter cleaner informed me he removed nails from the roof top, some 7 months later--weren't we lucky (no flat tires)! Again--The roof looks wonderful--they did a great job on installation--but I expect more attention to details and better customer service from people I employee that are listed on Angie's List.

9 months after the fact, and now you bring these items up? Why now? why not when they came up, and why not let us know so that we may address them in a timely fashion? Why not let us know first so that the items could be addressed. In my 24 years in this business we have NEVER been accused of these things. We ALWAYS respond to our customers needs. We ALWAYS address our customers concerns. Had this customer simpley called us and let us know all of these things would have been addressed immediatley. Like they said, the roof looks fantastic.

The workers showed up on time, were very professional, completed the job quickly and cleaned up the area. Mike Kamis was a pleasure to work with, his suggestions and knowledge helped make our selection very easy. We have been very satisfied with the work done by Absolute. It's been 5 years since the job was completed & we have had no problems but have received many compliments from neighbors and friends. Absolute Roofing did a wonderful job and I would, and have, recommended them.

This process did not go as smoothly as I had hoped, based on the company?s credentials. If I were to start all over again here is what I would do differently: 1. Write all verbal assurances into the contract. I asked to be informed if the mold had spread from the platform board to the trusses and was assured this would be done. Communication failed between the salesman and the people doing the work. 2. If ventilation changes are proposed ask the salesman to go into the attic with you and explain what is to change. Once the job is done ask the Absolute inspector to go into the attic with you and explain how the new system works. When he tells you that he has inspected the roof, this only means the outside. We found out 3 weeks after the job was done that the new ventilation system was not working as it was blocked by existing insulation. Moreover the old gable vents had not been blocked off so the new and old ventilation systems were working against each other. Alao bathroom ceiling vents had not been reconnected. Absolute came back and fixed these issues, but there were further materials charges, and I would have expected that if removing the old ventilation system and intalling baffles to lift the insulation were not included then I should have been told that and given the option to include them in the contract, rather than finding out after the fact that I still had a failing system. 3. Ask to be informed if there are ordering or installation delays. Once the roof was done there was a delay in installing the gutters. We were told the reroofing would take 2 days in total, and then the workmen left without any indication of when we could expect completion. 4. If anything like a skylight is to installed ask what the interior finish will look like. We were left with a raw wood finish to the skylight frame in a bathroom. The ceiling board was also torn and stained during the installation process. I showed Absolute?s inspector photos of the interior (we had fixed it in the interim as the house was on the market and we needed it to look presentable) and his only comment was that it looked as he would have expected. It wasn?t what I was expecting! If the interior, and particularly where this is a bathroom with its consequent moisture issues, is to be left in an untreated state I think the customer should be made aware of this up front. The job cost about $400 more than quoted in the original contract. The importance of ventilation was heavily stressed in the sales pitch, so I was very dissatisfied to find out not only that the new system was not working properly, but that there were additional charges to get it working. Moreover, I had to pay other contractors to finish the skylight on the interior.
Description of Work: Absolute Roofing tore off my old roof platform which was moldy and replaced all the plywood before installing a new roof. A new ventilation system was installed. The skylight and front gutters were replaced.

Response from Absolute Roofing & Construction Inc
The client was satisfied with work when we were completed. We did our best to satisfy our client but obviously did not to her satisfaction. I ask anyone who is perfect to please step forward, otherwise I would hope anyone who reads this understands that NO ONE is perfect, and a measure of a good person or company is that they will take care of any issues that may arise, because, as I stated, no one is perfect. We do dispute many of the statements made by our client but wish to put this situation behind us, as we thought our client did when we ultimately addressed all issues that arose with this project. I do recommend that homeowners not put the blame for other trades bad work on the roofers, such as a poor insulation job that may have existed before the roofing work starts.

My roof was leaking by the chimney and I suspected that it was related to the flashing. I was looking for a simple repair because I know that I will need a new roof in five years or so and did not want to spend more than I needed to. I called Absolute Roofing for an estimate based upon the responses from the list and told them what I suspected it was and that I was just looking for a simple repair. The gentleman who came out to look at the job was very professional, pleasant, knowledgeable and respectful. He got up on the roof, took pictures, came down to show me the pictures and said that it was exactly as I suspected. He told me that to fix the problem all that was needed was that the flashing needed to be renailed and recaulked and that he could write a contract and make the repair right then and there, to which I agreed.

Great experience. Chris was accomodating and got us a quote quickly. The only hiccup seemed to be after I signed the contract, I was not contacted by his staff to schedule the job. However, when I called him 10 days later to inquire, he got us scheduled right away. His quote indicated that there could potentially be wood damage, and if so, additional time and materials would be added to the total. In the end, we did have wood damage and they made all of the corrections and improvements yet stuck to the original quote. I call that great service!
Description of Work: We had a leaking roof. Chris and his team recommended corrections and acknowledged that there may be wood damage that they couldn't see. They tore off the roofing in that section of our home, fixed/replaced rotted wood, put down EPDM, put down new shingles for aesthetic purposes, and cleaned up when they were done.

Upon completion of the estimate, I met with Chris to discuss my options. We decided that it would be best to do a complete tear-off of my roof, replace any damaged wood, and install a new roof. I'm an Information Technology professional by trade and as such I don't know much about roofing, so I had a lot of questions about the job that was going to be performed. Chris took the time to answer all of my questions, drawing diagrams when necessary to illustrate his points. Chris also took the time to show me several samples of shingles to help me decide on color / type of replacement shingle for the job. Chris even let me take a new shingle home to see how the finished job would differ from my garage, that I did not have re-done. When I left, all my questions had been answered and all that was left to do was the job itself... When the agreed upon date for the installation approached, I received a call from Absolute Roofing to let me know that the materials would be dropped off. They appeared as promised and were placed on my driveway where I had suggested (I have a duplex, and did not want to block my tenants in). The job began on a Friday in some of the hottest weather we have had all year. The three man crew worked a full day on Friday, Saturday, and returned to complete the job on the following Monday. The crew worked quickly and efficiently, cleaning up at the end of each day so all that was visible was the progress on the roof. Once the job was completed, they did a final walk around the house and cleaned up small pieces of debris and even ran a machine down my driveway to pick up any stray nails!
Description of Work: Recently, the roof over my Florida room at the back of my house had begun leaking. I was aware that I needed to replace my roof for quite some as I noticed the condition had deteriorated greatly over the past several years. After a brief search of roofing contractors in my area, and after reading the impressive feedback that Angies List customers had provided, I contacted Chris Kamis at Absolute Roofing. Chris and I spoke briefly over the phone and set up a time / day to have an estimate prepared for replacing my aging roof...

Outside: Quality of the final craftsmanship, in particular vinyl siding very good. Appearance of outside gets an A from me. Workmen acted professional and polite, no cursing or loud music. Inside took them two tries. Take 1: Grade D. Take 2: Grade A-. First time the inside molding was both painted the wrong color (bright white vs cream) and sheen (glossy vs. semigloss) was wrong. It clashed badly with untouched molding and was sloppy. The entire inside work had to be repainted with the correct color and sheen. To his credit, Chris brought in his A team to do the repaint, clean things up, and it was done within a week and looked good. However, it was an inconvenience. We had left town for the initial work, and having the contractors underfoot in our house the following week was an unexpected and unpleasant surprise. All I've talked about until now is appearance of the work. More seriously, we hired this company because they were on a list of companies licensed for lead paint control. The reason for the work was because my baby had an elevated lead blood level, the house was covered with lead paint inside and out, and we had a county order (and wanted) to fix the problem. On some research, I found out the amount of lead needed to poison a child could fit on the tip of a pin and barely be visible there. The paint on the outside of my house was 50% lead and on the inside 5%. The contractors who perform the work are all supposed to be trained in lead abatement and follow extremely stringent rules when performing the work. We paid a premium for this. It was apparent to me that several of the contractors performing the work either had not had the training or ignored it. Perhaps equally problematic, many of them did not seem to have a contextual understanding of the lead paint issue, that there is good reason the regulations are strict and they are supposed to keep all the lead paint contained. Some specific problems that occurred. For the exterior, when removing 50% lead painted wood from the front of my house, that wood was then thrown into my yard, no plastic underneath, where large paint chips fell into the grass. Removal of 50% lead painted garage window, the window was thrown in my back yard with no plastic underneath. Removal of 50% lead painted front porch, paint chips littered the area afterwards. One of the contractors went around with a vacuum in my yard afterwards, but only got some of the chips. When all the work was "done" I found large chunks in the front, back and side; and spent days vacuuming up paint chips and pressure washing. I still find lead paint chips near bushes along the side of the house. Inside, the child's room had chemically stripped lead paint pushed into door jambs & easily could be plucked out by child's fingers; flaking paint under window ignored. Inadequate chemical stripping of china cabinet. At the end of the job I wondered if Mike had communicated to his brother Chris the whole point of the renovations, lead control
Description of Work: Lead Paint Control inside and outside of my house. One the outside, vinyl siding on my house and garage. All exterior wood wrapped. Two doors to outside replaced. Front porch and front porch columns replaced. Large picture window at front of house replaced. Back enclosed porch gutted and windows replaced with custom windows. House gutters replaced. Garage door replaced. Lead-contaminated dirt was dug out and removed a 3 foot perimeter, 6 inches around our house and garage. On the inside, molding and trim paint (5% lead beneath) was wet scraped and encapsulated at friction or impact (e.g., all door jambs) and in high traffic areas. China cabinet friction impact surfaces were chemically stripped and encapsulated. Two doors in child's bedroom were chemically stripped and encapsulated.
