They arrived 30 minutes late from original appt. of 2-4:00 PM. Jack did all the work. He dismantled the back of the freezer and diagnosed the icemaker as stuck in the "harvest" mode. After removing the door and both baskets full of food, he dismantled the icemaker itself even though they did not have a replacement or any parts for it in their truck. Lou took the model number and called someone to order a part to be picked up the next day. (When I had tried to give him the model no. during my initial phone call, he wasn't interested.) He then announced that they would return the next evening (5-7:00 PM) to replace the unit for $225. He joked about a $100 tip for each of them. He requested a check made payable to him (not the company) for $100, 20 minutes after they left, we discovered water all over the kitchen floor and called them immediately. They told us to turn off the water supply to the refrigerator....which is located in the crawl space under our kitchen. That's when we discovered water from the kitchen had seeped into the crawl space and was soaking the cardboard boxes of things we store there. When they finally arrived, Lou accused me of installing the water filter of the fridge incorrectly. (I had asked Jack to reinstall it before they left the first time.) After much discussion and moving things around, Jack finally disconnected the plug to the icemaker so it would no longer use water. (One would have thought that would have been one of the first things they would have done!) They agreed to return the next evening. After they left the second time, we realized the drawer to the freezer was not aligned correctly and kept us from being able to open the freezer! It took me over an hour and a load of laundry to clean up the water mess they created. We had expected them to solve problems, not cause more. At that point, I consulted Angie's List and chose a large appliance repairman right in our neighborhood. I left a voicemail for him to call. He called at 8 AM the next morning and will arrive at 8 AM tomorrow to fix the icemaker. Here's hoping he can correct all the problems A1 - Affordable Appliance caused. I then called them to cancel their service call. They never bothered to call to ask why!
