Highly recommended! I called with multiple questions- needed tuckpointing on two chimneys, chimney caps to keep out the raccoons, and an inspection/cleaning of an old wood-burning stove. Scott came out for an inspection and gave me great advice- namely that I would need major repairs and updates to safely use the stove- so he advised me against spending the money to clean it unless I intended to commit to the rest of the project. Scott took his time and explained quite a bit to me. I was in a bit of a hurry to get the chimney work done because I had my new roof on hold waiting for the chimney repairs. Brian came out within a day or two to give me an estimate, then was able to sneak me into his schedule for the next week. Each time they said they would be there, they were. And everything was thoroughly cleaned up before they left! I have two awkwardly placed chimneys and had received multiple repair estimates. Some refused the job, others gave me estimates which were much higher than Good Knight's Sweep. One contractor wanted me to rent a manlift for $1000. Scott and Brian set up scaffolding- off of my upper deck for one of the chimneys, around the power lines for the other- and somehow made it look easy. Brian did the tuckpointing and replaced the crowns on two chimneys- the work was pristine, and they even went back up at the end of the day to clean up a small drip that I never would have noticed. Scott dropped a mothball in the chimneys to keep the raccoons out, then replaced the caps. I have had multiple consultations on how to get the raccoons out long enough to cap the chimneys, all were ridiculously expensive and involved trapping/killing the raccoons- so this solution was amazing. Fees for the caps were also lower than other quotes I received. Finally, I just want to say that these are such nice guys! Scott removed an old antenna that was on my roof and hauled it away. Brian cleaned up some unsightly discoloration on the side of my home that the HVAC guys had left. They could have easily said "sure, I'll do it for $50" or whatever- but both things were done really just as a favor. I'm not someone that normally writes reviews, but honestly just can't say enough good things about these guys. If you need any type of chimney or fireplace work, just call them and look no further.

I couldn't be more pleased with Scott, especially since I have had to deal with unscrupulous home repair people since buying my house 20 years ago. From the start I could see that he was a true professional. He was prompt to the agreed time to assess the job. After agreeing to the work and very reasonable price, I didn't have to worry about anything. He showed up on the designated days and did his work as promised. I had a dog on premise that was nervous around strangers and he took the time to put him at ease. I was not on premise while he did the work and there were no issues when I returned. -- If your in need of chimney work no need to call anyone else- I highly recommend Scott!

We had Scott to our home to inspect and clean our wood burning insert that wasn’t drawing in the previous cold season. He was on time and very thorough. He actually went on our roof to inspect and clean the cap, noting that we needed additional masonry work in the spring. I’m thankful he was the only company I’ve ever hired to get on the roof because there was so much creosote buildup that was preventing it from drawing. I would recommend this company without hesitation. They’re, by far, the most thorough company I’ve ever had out to clean our insert.

The work was well done. Scott was very knowledgable about chimneys and their possible issues. Our house, an older house in Cleveland Heights, was built in 1920 and he knew all about the construction of these houses. I was very confident that Scott would do a good job and he did! I thought that the service was priced fairly. I would definitely use this company again.

After finding him on Angie's List, I had use this provider once before in June 2014 for a very simple, minor repair. At that time I found him to be very knowledgeable and reasonably priced. So reasonably priced, in fact, that when he presented me with a bill for a mere $25.00 for the work performed, I wrote him a very generous check for $100.00 instead, since I try to be more than fair when dealing with people. Then, beginning two days later, I tried to contact him repeatedly at the email address he had given me because I had an issue with the work that was done, (and when I never heard back from him I had to resolve it on my own) and I continued to email him repeatedly because we had also discussed more work to be done in the very near future, & he had told me to email him with pictures of chimney caps I liked, etc. I emailed him repeatedly about both the issue with the work he had completed, and the future work to be performed but I never received a single response. Months later, when he apparently now had the time for me, I received a voicemail from him never mentioning the issue with the previous repair buy only looking for work. Needless to say, by that point, I was in no mood to reply. ...Cut to 2017, I needed repair on the exterior of my chimney including tuckpointing and also tuckpointing to my home's foundation. When searching on Angie's List, I was surprised to find that Scott Campbell/ Good Knights Sweep performs this type of work. Though extremely leery because of his total lack of responsiveness back in 2014, but because he seemed knowledgeable, I decided to give him another chance. I first spoke with Scott about this new work around the end of February 2017, because, as I explained to him, I was eager to get the work scheduled asap so that it could be performed as soon as the upcoming Spring weather allowed. I further explained that the timing was extremely important since water was leaking into my house due to the missing chimney mortar and also I had to postpone a planned renovation until the issue was fixed. I also told Scott at that time, and more than once, that if he was not interested in the work or his schedule was too busy for me to please just tell me so up front, rather than waste my time, so that I could simply move forward & look for someone else in order to get the work completed as soon as Spring arrived, which was only six short weeks away. Scott assured me that he had room on his schedule to complete the work for me early this Spring and so we scheduled an estimate for 03/15/17. Due to a snowstorm, we were forced to reschedule and when I asked to check my calendar, Scott insisted we go with the date 03/22. I rearranged my entire schedule to accommodate him. He arrived at my house and we spent a long time outside discussing the work. At one point, he looked at his clip board and started reading various dollar amounts off to me at random but then said he would have to "email me the total." This seemed strange to me since he could have just added the amounts up while standing there. I was surprised and disappointed that he left without giving me any estimate since that was the whole point of his visit which lasted a very long time. Instead he told me to write down my email address on his folder and that he would email me the total in a few days. Almost an entire three weeks later, I still had no estimate so I called Scott to see if he had sent it. He said he never sent it and he seemed to have no recollection whatsoever of our meeting or who I was, and he said to "give him my name again so he could look for my folder and get the estimate out to me that afternoon." It is now an entire 5 weeks since our meeting and not only have I still not received the emailed estimate he promised me but he has never even bothered to phone me back. Not only did he waste my entire day when he came out for the estimate, but he has now wasted an entire 5 WEEKS of my time when I could have simply gotten estimates from other providers and already had the work scheduled with someone else. This wasted 5 weeks means that I will not have the work done when I planned or needed, that water will continue to leak into my house for several more months, that my renovation is now further postponed, and that I am now too late to get on any other providers' schedule for early spring. I feel there is absolutely no excuse for this behavior. ...I should have learned my lesson with this guy the first time around. ...ALSO, let me add, that I was baffled when during our meeting, Mr. Campbell suggested we go inside so he could look at my chimney. Since this was tuckpointing work only, to be done to the outside of my house only and absolutely nothing on the interior, again this was strange to me. But, because he had been in my house with no problems back in 2014, and because I thought perhaps there was indeed something he needed to check, I took him into my basement and showed him the interior of the portion of the chimney we had just been discussing outside. He spent 15 or 20 minutes just hanging out in my basement (I'm still not sure what for) and then, as I was showing him back outside, instead of walking back outside through the glass door he had entered through, he made a sharp left and walked up a flight of stairs into the living space of my home without invitation or permission. Despite my saying, and before I could finish the sentence "No, you can't go up there", he was upstairs standing in my kitchen. I was quite angry & upset about this for at least a week following since it felt like such a violation, though I politely showed him out and thanked him for his time. I still see absolutely no valid reason that someone would need to enter my home to give me a tuckpointing estimate for EXTERIOR WORK. No other contractor has, nor has asked to. Furthermore, to just walk about freely in someone's home without their permission or invitation is beyond inappropriate. Because the door he had entered through was a glass door and still partially opened from when we had entered, you could easily see the yard outside and clearly see that was the way to exit my home. Though I was supremely upset & uncomfortable with his having barged into my personal living space uninvited, still giving him the benefit of the doubt I was willing to entertain the possibility that it was somehow a misunderstanding. Though, as stated, there is no apparent reason he should have needed to enter my house at all in the first place to give me a tuckpointing estimate. Including the day at my home, Scott from Good Knight's Sweep has wasted weeks of my valuable time with absolutely no consideration for me as the customer. It's clear that even after I phoned him to follow up, Scott made zero effort to send the estimate out to me. I doubt he ever even looked for my folder. RIDICULOUS.

She told us the chimney had cracked joints and was dangerous to use. She cleaned it and told us to get someone with a camera to inspect. We had another company come in with a camera and they found no cracks and said the previous "cleaning job" was not well done. They did an extensive cleaning and looked at the chimney again with a camera and said it was fine to use.
