He is very knowledgeable about the real estate market in our area. He is very responsive to questions. He has gone out of his way to lead us through the process and we have had an excellent experience with him.

Chris Jurcisin is an expert in the Cleveland Heights/Shaker Heights/East Side market. We met Chris about 10 years ago when we lived in Cleveland Heights in the neighborhood near the Cleveland Heights public library. We were contemplating sinking a lot of money into our house for the kitchen, and a mutual friend of Chris's and ours suggested we speak to him just to get a sense of the market and whether it would be worth it. To make a long story short, we eventually became convinced that an investment of the necessary magnitude was not worthwhile and decided to look for another house. We bought one in Shaker. What impressed us was how low-key and dead-on Chris's advice was. Chris was our buyer's agent for the home we eventually bought, and was prepared to be our seller's agent for the Cleveland Heights house, but we sold it ourselves (easier to do in that price range). Still Chris gave us lots of free advice on how to sell the place and it maximized our value--big time. He was also a savvy and strategic negotiator on the purchase of the Shaker house. He didn't negotiate randomly; he had a strategy and he executed on it. Chris was then our seller's agent when we sold that home to move into Cleveland. He made us a mint on our house by helping us price it just right under market conditions, resulting in multiple offers. He gave us free advice on the agent-free purchase of our first Cleveland home, was the seller's agent (for free) on the sale of that home, and gave us great advice on the purchase of our current home directly from the owner. We have been so thrilled with Chris that we have referred him to countless friends who have done the same and helped move him from a part-time realtor to one of the top full-time Cleveland/Shaker Heights realtors. We're using him now on the sale of my mother-in-law's home and rental property. The thing about Chris that makes him so different among realtors is raw honesty. He doesn't try to sell a pig in a poke, he calls it like he sees it, and he doesn't come off like a used-car salesman. He won't tell you your house is worth more than it is given current market conditions just to get your business, and then leave you twisting in the wind as your house doesn't sell. He knows these markets like the back of his hand. We have come to rely on his advice completely (including in our recent decision to invest in renovating our kitchen and baths), and our very recent decision to expect far less than my mother-in-law wanted on her properties, and to not renovate the property for sale. Chris sells homes quickly and has a lot of satisfied clients who then refer him to family members, etc. As a consequence, he's worked out a very good arrangement with his agency for himself and has a lot of independence in his decision-making. (One of our happiest Chris Jurcisin memories is how we were about to spend a small mint to fix up our kitchen at our first house thinking we absolutely had to for re-sale, and Chris recommended that we take more minor cosmetic measures instead (re-paint, install new pre-fabricated counters, install a new light fixture from Home Depot, clear the counters,and install a cloth curtain to hide some pipes). We said, "Are you sure?" and Chris assured us "yes." Sure enough, when people came to see the house, they would rave irrationally about the kitchen--one woman said "I just LOVE this kitchen"--and it was completely nonfunctional for real cooks. To this day, my wife and I refer to minor cosmetic renovations for re-sale when we see a house thusly: "This house needs a Chris Jurcisin special..." Chris taught us that a little fresh paint goes a long way. Having used him as our seller's agent and our buyer's agent, we see that he employs completely different strategies in both situations.) Again, the most important thing we've learned about Chris--he does not tell people what he thinks they want to hear just to get business, and then let them twist in the wind. He tells it to them straight, up front, and then gets very creative to find buyers and get deals done. He's one of the few realtors we know who is still thriving in this market. Don't be fooled by brand names. "Howard Hanna," "Realty One," etc. means nothing. Your individual agent means everything.
