Our experience with You Move Me was disappointing and frustrating. We’ve used two other moving companies in the past with great outcomes, so our review is written with some familiarity with quality service. In August 2019, we received an estimate from You Move Me to help with some larger items. The quote seemed high, but we were ok with an overestimate if the price would be updated as we moved items ourselves. We worked diligently to move most of the items, leaving much less total items for them to mover. When the movers arrived, they brought three teams and realized it was too little for all of them, even though we updated them previously on how much we moved. They put us in the uncomfortable position of determining if and who would leave. The move out itself seemed to proceed without major incident, though there was some miscommunication on what they could/could not take (tractor) and how to disassemble large items. The unload to our new house is where the greatest disappointment in You Move Me occurred. It did not appear that the movers used the same care as previous movers in protecting doors, walls, floors, etc. Our floor sustained scratches, our front door trim suffered a large dent, and our driveway edge was cracked significantly. A part of a leg was broken on a dresser. Items were not moved to where they needed to go, and some items were assembled incorrectly (such as the bedframe). The attitudes of the movers were also disappointing – we felt like they were blaming us for having large/heavy items. Work seemed much slower on the unload, and we often caught many of the movers standing around. Their language, especially within earshot of our children, was not professional, including sexual references and cursing. In the end, the cost was much higher than anticipated (though they claimed it was under the original inflated estimate); if the service was commensurate with the service, this would have been acceptable, but the damage to the house and moved items, attitude of the movers, and hassle we experienced trying to move items to where we wanted made the entire experience frustrating. This contrasts greatly with You Move Me’s slogan and mission statement, which calls into question the sincerity of their words. When confronted with our concerns over the experience, we received an email attempting to blame us for most of the difficulties and providing empty promises to address damaged items. Perhaps some crews are better than others with You Move Me, but our experience was disappointing and frustrating. With many moving companies competing for business, we will never employ You Move Me again, and we highly recommend others to stay away from them.

YOU MOVE ME DID move me and damaged my furniture. Management has not responded locally or nationally; I would never use this firm. I know things happen, but they should respond and take care of my problem, not ignore it. I now have repairs to make at my cost.

Called 800 number out of Canada and spoke with Nicole, who was VERY professional, was able to answer all questions but a few, but was going to have the local franchise get in touch with me to answer them. Was given a quote of $114 for their "truck fee" and $114 an hour for 2 men, a one hour minimum, but after one hour could bill in 15 minute increments which I liked! This was rather late afternoon on a Friday. By Monday late afternoon, had still not had a response from the company to answer my questions, so called back to number, spoke with Nicole, who contacted franchise again, and called back to tell me they would be in touch with me late on Tuesday. I would give responsiveness an A-/B+ on getting back with me, because it took 4 days from initial call to finally speak with someone from the local franchise. However, it was right before the weekend. They did as promised, Matt called back on Tues, answered questions, however, stated that there was a $30 fee to wrap items? That was not included in the quote. It was fine, as Nicole had told me that she was new. Upon reading some other sites reviews, Matt had gotten a lot of kudos, so I got back in touch with him and requested him on the move, which he accommodated. Apparently Matt only does moves some of the time because he is now in a managerial position with the company. We scheduled basically less than 2 days later on a Thurs between 12 -2 time frame. So for that I would give an A on responsiveness for being able to schedule me that quickly for a move. I would have given an A for punctuality, and really it should be an A- because they showed up at 2:12 pm. They were very fast, and could not believe how quick the job was done. They did not need to wrap anything, and therefore went back to original total quote of the $228 (truck fee plus one hour minimum). This was pretty much in line with most of the quotes I received from other movers, including the two that were "cash" only movers, that made me a little leary. I would use them again, but with the stipulation that Matt is present on the move because I have utmost confidence in him!
Description of Work: We needed a heavy cement mosaic table top moved to detached garage, desk chair on wheels moved to garage and another small package moved to garage. A few items taken to our dumpster, and a few items within our home moved around. I thought it would be an hour or less of time, and it was. Very lightning fast movers, professional, friendly.

Only made it to estimate. Got phone estimate that was half of in person estimate. In person estimate took 2 reminder emails to get and then another reminder to get final numbers. Decided not to hire to lack of punctuality and disappointment of the difference in quotes. Beware of phone quote

It went well. They say they make the move fun, I don't know that it was fun, but it wasn't dreadful. They had left a rug on the truck and I realized it later that night and was able to get in touch with someone and they brought it the next day. They had said they would have 3 guys, but only two showed. The lead was amazing and they worked hard. It definitely would have been much better with 3 guys - hence the reason I'm not grading them an A, but they did a very nice job. The same night as I moved, the owner texted me to make sure all went well. They did a good job.

I met with Cliff, and I was impressed with the initial appointment. I was actually excited about the promised coffees the movers were going to bring with them when they arrived! We got on the schedule for between 8-10 am. I called Cliff the day before to make sure they called my cell (because our home phone wasn't set up at the new house yet) when they were on the way. I got a call from the movers 20 minutes after they arrived at my house and said they tried calling my home phone and couldn't reach me. I got there in 5 minutes and the moving began, with no mention of the coffees. :( About 3 hours in to the move, a mover told me to come upstairs. He shows me a mattress and a tiny bug on it. He said, "Maam, you have bed bugs." I laughed, and said, "That is not a bed bug. Believe me. We had bed bugs four years ago in this house, and it was a nightmare, and anytime I see a bug on a mattress, I carefully inspect. And I assure you, this is not even close to what a bed bug looks like." Then the chaos began. Movers stopped moving things. GM was on the phone with me asking why I wasn't freaking out about having bed bugs. (Side note- Later the GM admitted the photo of the bug texted to him looked like a roly poly bug) Owner making promises to have another crew in hazmat suits come back in an hour to finish the job. The movers took what was in the truck to the new house and moved it all as promised, which was good. Later we found out that the GM told them to move everything from the house except the bedroom furniture with the alleged bed bug. It was a tiny kids foam mattress, (with a bed bug protected cover on it, mind you) that I ended up just throwing in my van because of their fear. An hour later, no new movers. Two hours later, no new movers. Got ahold of owner and GM again. Miscommunications between them, and they both were telling us different things. We were getting nervous because if we weren't out of the old house by 5 we would get charged $500. Finally 4 hours after the movers stopped moving us in the am, the GM shows back up with the SAME MOVER WHO FOUND THE "BED BUG", and no one has hazmat gear on, and they move the rest of the stuff. I was in disbelief that our move was halted hours earlier because of the bug, and now the same mover was back to work without any protective gear. ???? They did bring out two extra guys from their 1-800-GOT-JUNK business to help speed things along. I later found out from the young man who found the "bed bug" that he works for the Junk side of the business, so probably had no training in moving and had no clue himself what a bed bug looks like. He ended up apologizing to us because he usually doesn't move people. Finally, all items were moved and to our new house. We worked out the bill, and they gave us a $45 credit for our "troubles" and didn't charge us for the two extra guys. I appreciate that they tried to make things right. I informed the owner that in the future, training his employees to know exactly what a bed bug looks like would save someone else from this nightmare. Cliff's sales pitch that first day was all about having a FUN, STRESS-FREE moving day. So if you call being in tears (and without my morning coffee), being accused of having bed bugs, making multiple phone calls and texts to the company, having your friends show up in the 4 hour gap to help you move things in mini-vans to make sure we got out of our house in time fun and stress-free, I would not have signed up with YOU MOVE ME.
