Description of Work: We got an estimate from a very young looking guy. He was very unsure of himself and sent pictures of our fireplace back to his boss. He gave us several unofficial estimates and said we would get an official estimate by email. The estimate we received via email was several thousand dollars. We used another reference from your list who in turn referred us to a friend who actually did the firebox repair on our fireplace for $ 75.00. He said we did not have broken bricks which Vonderhaar said we needed to replace. We had Vonderhaaar put in a chimney insert several years ago at a cost of $1200. Now we are second guessing that decision.

Description of Work: First chase cover they measured for on the fireplace did not fit correctly. After an argument and a couple of months to reorder, they finally replaced the cover.

Description of Work: I stopped by their store to inquire about fireplace inserts, gas logs and fireplace doors. They were very helpful, knowledgeable and have a good selection. Got some average prices. The information is a good start in my plans to update the look of our fireplace.

Description of Work: Cleaned gas logs, checked for leaks and taught me how to use it. My only complaint is that I "contacted" them through Angie's List and they never responded. Two days later I called them and setup an appointment. Everything was fine except the communication from Angie's list direct never seemed to do anything. Any other time I have used Angie's list to contact, someone has emailed or called me right away.

Description of Work: General Gas Fireplace Tune-up and Maintenance. Replaced transmitter and receiver for remote start. Punctuality was given a "C" based on the fact I was rescheduled to a Saturday and they arrived after the 2 hour window. Overall good experience; technician was knowledgeable, kept area clean, and used drop cloth.

Description of Work: The sales person(Jen) did a very good job showing the models of wood burning fireplace inserts and explaining the differences. The installers were to install the unit we bought on the day after Thanksgiving but called and showed up the day before. After installing the unit the crew fired up the insert and explained in good detail how to fire up and control it. I am well satisfied with the unit and the people at Vonderhaars. |I might note that the price may sound somewhat high but in my case I have a huge stack of well seasoned ash wood that I plan to use to heat most of my house during the winter and substantially reduce my gas bill while having an attractive and safe fire at the same time. |

Description of Work: Brian showed up on time to install new gas logs. This fireplace was in the basement of a house we bought but the original owner never finished. Brian hooked up the lines and installed the new logs. Brian took the time to explain everything about the fireplace. Brian also took extra time to show us how to use a remote for a large fireplace we have in our family room. Brian was great to deal with and I highly recommend Vonderhaar to everyone. Our experience from the store to the installation was fantastic!
