I found Doug on Angies List and called to see if he could do the work noted above. I sent digital photos with an explanation and he sent me an estimated cost. I specified I was not in a hurry so he could take his time completing the work as I was in the process of moving. Doug and a member of his crew came to pick up the items and I wrote a check for the deposit. He said he'd call when they were done and clarified again that I was in no hurry. 4 weeks later I got the call the items were ready for delivery. The table came first and looked beautiful, flawless work and exactly what I wanted. Doug noted the letters got scratched when his team was loading them in the truck for delivery so he wanted to take them back and put on another coat of paint. I was pleased he was upfront and told me what happened and that he would take care of it. Doug delivered the letters the following week and they to were perfect...he did a fantastic job. Doug was always very professional and returned my calls promptly. His fee was a fair price for the work he did. I would highly recommend Doug for you furniture rehab needs.
Description of Work: I had two jobs that Doug completed: 1) Had an antique table that I wanted sanded and painted a glossy off white color 2) I had 5 very large industrial sign letters of a building I wanted sanded, primed and painted a glossy black

This was quite a surprise when I went to pick up the chair; the fellow at the shop told me "no charge"! When they originally accepted the chair, they thought it would be a simple glue-and-set job. He explained to me, as described above, that when they started to set the chair, the wood began to split away where they were going to make the repair. Therefore, they did a patch job with nails and putty, filling and smoothing well. At the end, the chair is functional and didn't look bad. I asked them if they can re-cane the chair, but the owner/manager, Doug Aulick, told me that the type of paper caning used in this chair in the 1960s is not sold anymore. While this looks like a somewhat sleazy warehouse, I would definitely go back to have them do more repairs.
Description of Work: Unique Furniture accepted a broken 45-year-old Danish modern caned chair for repair. The wood had split completely at one point near the top, just below the chair back. They glued and set the repair. Because this caused some of the wood to split away--leaving a gap--they also set it with nails and filled with a color-matching wood putty compound.
