+ -1 moreMy Silhouettes had been hanging over two French doors, near a floor register, for over 15 years -- with only an occasional cleaning by vacuum brush attachment. They were AWFUL. They were too expensive to replace and I had been shopping for a Plan B, all while realizing that nothing would ever look as good on those doors as these blinds. But the Hunter-Douglas "hot line" provided Tri-State as certified Silhouette cleaners, so I decided to give them a chance. He came up to Dayton from Cincinnati this morning and within an hour, they looked almost as good as new. I was shocked ... and VERY pleased. Those nasty brown stains (on the bottom half) from the heating/and a/c units were GONE. Plus I got some great advice for future maintenance as well. Trust me, I'll have Chuck back in a couple of years to refresh them. This was worth every penny!

+ -1 moreIt went very well! I am delighted with my blinds which he pronounced as being some of the dirtiest he'd ever seen. They are pristine now! If the service weren't so expensive I would have also given him the second-floor blinds to do, but that will have to wait until the spring.
Description of Work: He picked up my filthy plantation blinds at 9:30 am, cleaned them and returned them spotless at 1:30pm. By 2pm they were installed.

They also cleaned my drapes with a dry cleaning solution that worked so well and left my drapes looking so much better than when they started. I will use them again and highly recommend them.

+ 0 moreBefore ordering the blinds, Chuck knew my original Silhouettes were ordered in 1997, so being a stickler for perfection, he wanted the color of the new blinds to perfectly match what I'd bought years ago. I was totally impressed when he knew not only the precise color, but also the exact size of the vanes! When he installed the new blinds, they were a perfect duplication of the blinds in my living room. This is a great company with an excellent product - I highly recommend their services! If nothing else, the owner is an excellent resource if you have questions about shades or blinds. Easy to talk to and very honest.
Description of Work: To anyone reading my review - this isn't just about the work I had done, but also the professionalism and the extremely respectful way I was treated. Even though my blinds were very expensive when they were installed many years ago, I knew I might be told they'd seen better days and/or couldn't be cleaned. It would've been very simple for Tri State to give them a 'lick and a promise' and at best they'd look a 'little better' - I was thrilled when I found there was help out there for me! My first introduction to Tri-State was thru Angie's List. I needed to have my expensive Hunter Douglas Silhouette Blinds cleaned, and knowing the mechanism and handling of the delicate sheer fabric would require a true professional, I relied on an Angie's List reviewer who had been a 15 yr customer of Tri State Blinds - that's what I wanted - a proven track record, knowledge, and a repeat business reference. I got very lucky because the owner, Chuck Dimmitt, had advanced training and holds an exclusive certification from Hunter Douglas to service their product. He was quick to respond to my email and after a brief phone conversation, I knew I'd found the right guy! He arrived ahead of schedule - made a quick analysis and went to work. The Silhouettes (purchased in 1997) had never been professionally cleaned and after Chuck did his magic, they're now gorgeous, white and look like new again. I'm very pleased. Subsequently, I wanted Silhouettes for my entry hall and knew I'd need an expert to measure correctly etc. I asked Chuck to refer someone and again I was fortunate because his company is also a certified dealer of Hunter Douglas products. He measured, gave me a price and an approximate date for installation.

+ -1 moreI was very impressed with the owner's professionalism and felt very comfortable having him in my home. He's very easy to talk to, and didn't make me feel self conscious when I 'fessed up that I'd never had my blinds professionally cleaned. My Silhouette blinds were gray and dingy when the owner, Chuck Dimmitt, arrived - after working his magic, they're snow white and fresh looking. I now wish I'd done this sooner and on a regular schedule. When he arrived, Chuck explained the cleaning process to me, measured my blinds and based on their dimensions, gave me the cost to clean my Silhouettes. I was glad he didn't have to remove the blinds from the house or remove them from the windows. He put protective coverings on the windows as well as the carpet and within 2 hours, the blinds looked good as new. I'm very happy with the results and very glad that I used Tri State to take care of a chore I'd been dreading for a long time.
Description of Work: Because of the over population of stink bugs and lady bugs around my house this year, I wanted to make sure none of them had taken up residency in my windows and blinds. I made my decision to use Tri-State Blinds after reading the customer comments on Angie's List. The owner called me the next day to get pertinent info on the kind of blinds I needed to have cleaned and to set up an appointment. Other than using a vacuum cleaner, I have never cleaned my very pricey Hunter Douglas Silhouette blinds, and I was well aware there was years of soil, dirty air and bug juice hiding in the nooks and crannies. I had some knock off Duette blinds that I wanted cleaned as well. I was very appreciative when the owner told me the knock off's were beginning to deteriorate and applying the cleaning solution might cause further damage.

+ -1 moreThere were no troubles with scheduling. He tried to work on a couple of blinds, but did not finish the job. The blinds were about ten years old and he thought that the blinds could be damaged if he cleaned them. He did still charge to come out.

We were very pleased with the result and the timing - the blinds were cleaned and returned the next day. They look like new and we will definitely use this company again. Had we had a larger job, the work would have been done at our home, but since it involved just two panels, the representative took them with him and returned them the next day.

+ 0 moreChuck arrived right on time and gave me an estimate for blinds for the first floor. I added four additional blinds at the last minute. I used the coupon on Angie's List which covered the trip charge and a bit more. Chuck quickly took out the blinds and called within a few hours. He rehung everything. I asked him about cleaning other types of blinds, and he does that too. I was surprised he finished the job so quickly.
Description of Work: He removed metal mini blinds and cleaned the blinds at a separate location. He returned a few hours later and hung them back up.

+ -1 moreChuck was on time actually 15 minutes early and described the process would take approx. 2-3 hours. He put plastic behind each window treatment as well as the floors. The cleaning process took about 2 hours and the shades looked wonderful after the cleaning.
Description of Work: Chuck Dimmitt came out and gave me a quotation for cleaning our Hunter Douglas Silhouette shades and 1 Luminette Sheer. These blinds are a top of the line window covering and very expensive to replace. Tri-State is certified to clean these products which put me at ease.
