THE UNDERGROUND DETECTIVE

Description of Work: They put a camera through the main basement drain in a house we wanted to buy as part of the pre-purchase inspection. They confirmed no breaks or leaks, which helped us decide to go forward with the purchase. It is a good idea to do this before buying, because fixing breaks or leaks is very expensive! They were responsive to our fast timeframe, explained things well, gave us a video, and were very professional.

Description of Work: I have been using Underground Detectives for years to test the backflow device on our sprinkler system. They are very easy to work with, always show up when they say they will and take care of the paperwork for us. If they are testing multiple homes in the neighborhood they offer a discount.

Description of Work: We had a sewer back up into the basement. The Underground Detective came out and ran a camera through our system to see what was clogging the system. The pin pointed the roots and we got a DVD of the inside of our sewer line! It's a crowd-pleaser.

Description of Work: My landscaper cut through the gas line to my outside light while planting a tree. They failed to leave the line ends exposed so it could be repaired. Underground Detective responded almost immediately to search for the line so it could be repaired.

Description of Work: Plumber had trouble clearing drain line and felt there may be a hard obstruction. Underground detective came to send a camera down the line to visually find any obstructions. Tech was prompt and courteous. No hard obstruction was found, but plenty of intruding tree roots were pointed out, and have since been remedied. | |Everything recorded by the camera was saved to a DVD for our records. The tech sent the camera through the line at a pretty quick pace, so the video is not 100% clear. Times when the tech would pause and the camera had a chance to focus, the picture quality was excellent. My only criticism would be the speed of camera travel to get clear video. I would recommend having the tech pause every 3-4 feet to get a clear picture. | |Lastly, the tech was able to provide information on the approximate depth of the line based on the location of the camera and a radio transmission. This information was appreciated should the line ever need to be dug up. | |Should I ever need visual inspection again, I would definitely consider Underground Detective.

Description of Work: They scoped and produced video of the main sanitary line from house to street. The video and narration was very helpful in understanding the condition and placement of the sanitary line. They were responsive, transparent, and did what they said they would do at the quoted price.
