They did a good job at a reasonable price. We're very prompt and courteous. Would definitely hire them again.

It took numerous calls for us to arrive upon a work date, due partially to our busy schedules. Over time, Rod visited my home on 10/6/16 while I was at work, and Maureen called me to say he could do the job for $200. I agreed to that price. Rod's work was excellent. He left a bill for me on my front porch, and I mailed the $200 check to him the very next morning. I would call them again for any future stump grinding needs.

Called this morning at 10:30 for an estimate, Rod said he could come right out. He arrived at my house 30 minutes later and gave me an estimate of $75 to remove my two stumps. I agreed to the price and he did the work right then and there. Only took him 20 minutes and they cleaned up after themselves. Both men were very nice.

Great experience all around. They were so punctual and responsive. Came when they said they would and he told us what to expect and delivered. Rod and his team were so thorough and really cleaned up SO well after themselves. Four more of our neighbors have used this service.

Ron and his wife were professional, pleasant, and efficient. When compared to renting a stump grinder and performing the work on my own, having Ron perform the work was actually a cost savings. I"m so glad I enlisted professional help -- the results were well worth it!!

Fantastic. Stumps were completely removed and I got free wood bark mulch out of the deal. I was extremely pleased with the service performed.

Great service and response time. Originally had another outfit remove the tree and they never came back to remove the stump. These guys showed up the day I called and where done within 30 mins. Cleaned up well and didn't leave any marks on the yard.

They came out and removed two stumps for me. On time and very reasonably priced.

I inherited them from the previous owners of the property so it was somewhat ambiguous who was paying for what. As far as who paid the bill, the previous owners did not pay although it was stated in the closing papers that they would. That notwithstanding, the service itself was great.

He was good. I would use him again. Everything about the experience was positive. He did a good job and did good clean-up.

They did good work. They were efficient and punctual. We had alot of excavation going on and they were able to get the stump out immediatly.

He came and looked at the job, but he took so long to get the quote to me that I hired someone else. His price was in line with the other landscape companies that I got quotes from. He was kind of a quirky guy. His main business is stump grinding. I think he would probably be fine for that. I think he got into the extras of the business as some sort of expansion line. If I did have a stump to grind then I would consider him.

It was wonderful. They were quick and efficient. The price was very reasonable. They did a great job and it was very affordable. I would most definitely use their services again.

The work went fine. Their prices go up after storms or if we need them in a hurry. Our experience with them overall was pretty good.

The gentleman, the owner of the business, came to give me an estimate the same day I called for a quote.He returned the very same day, approximately 3 hours later and did the work. I was very satisfied with all work performed, including his outstanding cleanup.

They were here for two days and there were 5 people working. My yard and flower beds were completely overgrown with weeds. There were weeds even on the window walls which was horrible. They did everything that I asked them to do. I didn’t want any chemicals put on my yard in any way and I wanted a specific kind of mulch from a specific company in town. They pulled every weed and made everything look absolutely beautiful. They were constantly working. They put mulch on everything. They gave me advice and they also asked me before they pulled out certain things. They seemed to be able to recognize the difference between something that was a plant and something that was a weed. There were some wild flowers and they asked me if I wanted those. They were just wonderful. I can’t say enough about them. I also thought that their price was very fair when I think of how many people worked and how many hours they worked. They were respectful of my property and that was the other thing that I was really impressed with. There were no cigarette buds and they didn’t yell. They were very responsive and I would use their services in the future too.

He was fine. I wasn't really thrilled because he didn't ground out all the roots and everything, which we didn't discover until later. He was good; just a little rough around the edges.

I have had Rod and his crew do some work in the past so I called him out to remove a green ash tree that was on the side of the hill in our back yard. The location was difficult since part of the tree leaned toward our back deck. The ash tree had some bad limbs and I decided to remove it since the location was bad and the ash boarer bug was in the area and would likely infect the tree soon. Rod has a great crew with a guy that climbs the tree like an acrobat to cut back the limbs while another guy on the ground guides the limbs down to the ground with a rope. It is quite a show to watch. All seemed experienced and had safety in mind. We had them remove another locust tree that was leaning and had some bad damage at the top from the Windstorm IKE. It was simpler to remove but they also did a good job bringing it down safely. Both stumps were ground up as well. Overall they did a nice job and were easy to work with.

He said he would come back to do one thing but has not come back. I paid for the tree to be removed and he said he would get it the next time. It was not a big deal but he did not keep his word.

They did the work they said they would for a good price and they are coming back to do some more work later this month. Nice people.

Very prompt and courteous in getting back to me after I called. We set a date that was just a few days late. They arrived on time. The tree which needed to come down was very close to my house, and so presented some challenges, but it was all done very efficiently and well. Cleanup was excellent. Rod and his folks are very good at what they do, very knowledgeable, courteous, and very reasonably priced. They also did an 'extra' (trimmed a limb hanging over my garage), and charged me nothing for this. I continue to be very pleased with the service!

I had called three tree service companies (all on Angie's List) on a Monday to give me an estimate for the work I've described above. Two of the companies called me back to schedule appointments and came to my house within two days. I never received a call back from The Stump Guy. On the following Saturday, five days after I had called the three companies, Rod Goldberg and Tim Bush came to my house unannounced. By that time I had decided that on Monday I was going to call the other two companies and give one of them the job. After spending a considerable amount of time laying out and discussing a detailed scope of work with Rod and Tim, Rod gave me an estimate that was considerably lower than the other two estimates I had received. Because I have decades of experience in commercial construction writing scopes of work, taking and analyzing bids, and awarding work, a considerably low bid sets off an alarm in my mind. Such was the case with Rod's estimate. But because I had a detailed and complete scope of work that Rod, Tim and I had discussed and agreed to, and, because I was impressed by the comments in the reports from Angie's List members as to the quality and professionalism of their work, I awarded the job to The Stump Guy. I was not disappointed with their work. Tim Bush did the work on the maple tree and he kept me informed as to what he was doing, and why, every step of the way. The honey suckle was cut down by Tim and the stump ground and removed by Rod. The work on the honeysuckle and the maple was exactly as per the agreed scope of work. All debris, including the existing piles of branches, was removed from the yard. As noted in some of the other Angie's List reports for The Stump Guy, their clean up was beyond what I had expected. I truly could not tell they had been in my backyard except for the new look of the maple tree. Since their shortcomings in response to my initial telephone call and in punctuallity in arriving as scheduled on the day of the work did not cause any meaningful problems for me, I did not downgrade their overall rating because of these issues.
