I had Durable Slate come for my annual inspection of the roof tiles. They found one issue and would have fixed it for nothing if I had a replacement tile but I did not. They came back as promised and fixed it for a fair price and also left me some extra tiles for next time. Yes, you can find less expensive roofers, but they are dependable, qualified and fair.

Our home is almost 100 years old with mostly ceramic tile roof. Small portions of it is flat with rubber material. It is a very difficult area to access, and there are only a few companies who can work safely around tile/slate roof. The Durable Slate Company was really great to work with - prompt response time to initial contact, quick appointment to inspect and give estimates, knowledgeable staff, professionalism and courtesy of everyone we've had contact with, great workmanship and customer service, and timely work. We've had the company do other work in our home, and each time, we've been extremely happy with the work. They worked late into the evening to ensure that the work is completed on time as promised. After a job is completed, an inspector came out to review the work to ensure that the job was completed well and to customer's satisfaction. As we are in the process of selling the home, we've needed to provide some documentation for past repairs done in our home. Everyone at the Durable Slate office (both main Columbus and local Cincinnati) and field have been extremely helpful and stood behind their work. We cannot say enough about the company and its people. We do not hesitate in recommending this company to anyone, especially those with tile and slate roof, where it is very difficult to find companies who can be trusted.

They did a great job. I noticed the flashing on my roof had come loose and I knew rain was coming the next day and they came the next afternoon. They were on the roof when the weather suddenly turned bad. They got off of the roof, but struggled with the ladder due to the high winds. My patio furniture was blown over and they even helped me put it back. They went back up and finished the job when the storm had passed. The flashing stayed put!

From start to finish, the people at Durable Slate were very responsive and professional. The estimate was free and very thorough, even providing aerial photos of our building. They broke the quote into line items that allowed me to address priorities as budget allowed. Durable Slate was flexible with scheduling, allowing the work to be done when kids were not in school. They worked with the village inspector to make sure everything was OK. There was no mess from the job and it was done as quickly as the weather allowed. The on-site crew was professional and communicated well with me - always keeping notified about issues and scheduling. I ran into a small issue during our next big rain. Durable Slate had someone from their QA department come out immediately. They schedule some techs to come out and do a couple of small repairs - one was from their work and one was from work not in the original scope. QA kept in contact with me until I was happy with the work. From start to finish I was very happy with the communication, professionalism and work done by Durable Slate. I will definitely use them again for future roof repairs.

Apparently a few items were overlooked on the initial repair. But Durable Slate has a quality control inspection by a separate employee days after the repairs are made, which I've never encountered with other service providers. The inspector found some of the work could have been done better and sent another crew to do those repairs. I was so please with this service and it shows how thorough this company is. I would never trust my slate roof to any other roofing company. I recently had a roof leak (not a slate roof) at a rental property, where the flashing failed during the recent snow & ice weather. I call Durable Slate and they sent an inspector out within a day or so. Although they could have fixed the roof, the inspector told us we would be better off price wise hiring a regular roofing company, as their workers are skilled in slate and the cost would be higher for them to repair the flashing. Again, they proved to me their professionalism.

They are wonderful. They are the best slate company in the world as I understand it from reading a book. The job was through my insurance company. Everything was perfect! I have no complaints. I have recommended them all over the place. They are the best! I was referred to them by a book called "The Slate Roof Bible". This was a research book based on slate work from all over the world. They are the best and as professional as they possibly can be. I have known them to be hired to redo other peoples work. I have referred them to others.

Everything went as promised. They did a thoroughly professional job. Also punctual and on schedule - almost unheard of in New Orleans. Even though they did not have the lowest bid, I would not hesitate to use them again.

It went well and it looks good. They supposed to come out and do a final inspection that hasn't happen yet. They're very friendly. I have to follow up with a phone call 'cause they're very busy but it didn't really bother me that much.

We have used Durable Slate before, and they are great. The estimate was given in a realy timely fashion. The work was completed two days later, right on time. I would never use another roofer on my 110 year old slate roof.

Different companies came out and couldn't fix that particular problem, but this company was the only one that was able to take care of the issue. They were cost competitive, friendly and knowledgable.

The roof is an 80 year old slate roof. Durable Slate Co. is a columbus OH and Cincinnati OH company that does work in the Indpls area. The repair work appeared to go well. However several months later the leak reappeared during a heavy rain. Their quality control man came out to inspect the work. He discovered a cracked slate near the original repair work that was the source of the leak. He also was not satisfied with the copper chimney flashing (which looked fine to me). He had both items repaired at no additional cost to me. Work on slate tiles and copper flashing requires skilled craftsmen, they employ qualified people. We have used them before. As they said, if cared for, the slate roof will outlive me.

They are really good with the scheduling and I feel like they are honest with their pricing. They have always done a good job and done what they said they were going to do.

The company is based in Ohio, but they are in the Indy area often because not many companies do work on tile roofs. It sometimes takes a while for them to return calls, and they usually don't call before they arrive, even though they say they are going to. However, I will continue to use them, because when they do get here, they do a good job at a reasonable price, which is not the case with other roofing companies I have hired or talked to.

I spent around $700 on that work. Everything was good. They explained everything well. They were prompt, courteous and the work got done on time.

Overall, our experience was outstanding with Durable Slate. We have recommended them to friends in the Cincinati area and other regions who have had issues with leaking slate roofs, boxed gutters, etc. While the cost for Durable Slate was slightly higher than other bids we had received, the time they spent with us prior to awarding them the business, to explain the exact process they undertake to tear down the old boxed gutters and rebuild them from the "bottom-up", was what convinced us to go with Durable Slate. Importantly, the quality of their work and final outcome was the best we could have expected, in light of other sham repairs that other providers had recommended to address our gutters and leak issues. With the active winter of 2010-2011, extensive rainfall during the 1st half of 2011, we no longer have any internal water issues related to our boxed gutters. In fact, with the additional downspouts they recommended to get our gutter system to code and have the capacity to address excess rainfall, moisture, we no long have puddles of water overflowing the back gutters onto our porch or ground level patio and thus have limited to no water entering our basement door area. They rebuilt the gutters, lined completely with copper, added downspouts, and of course replaced the shingles where needed. In addition, they also address the flashing around one of our chimneys during the job, which was not originally planned. The team communicated well before, during and after the work was performed. We'll hire them again to finish the rebuild for our remaining boxed gutters in the front of our home. Their work was stellar and we no longer have water issues!

We called because there were several tiles missing on the back of the house which caused a major leak. There was also a section in the front where it looked like a layer was missing and I had asked that they fix that as well. A gutter was to be replaced as well as all the gutters cleaned. They fixed the major leak in back and did that well. They forgot about the front because it wasn't written on the job sheet as such. They replaced the gutter in front but when the next storm came along water was coming out of the downspout seam at the top because they didn't clean the downspouts. I called back about the front tiles they didn't replace and told them they wouldn't be paid til it was finished. They said they'd get right on it. After a few weeks I had heard nothing so I went on the web site to email them, and they called back again. They sent a guy to finish the front shingles and he did so after having to make a trip back to the shop to get the right thing. So, in the end, the tiling was done right and looks good. The gutters, next time, I'll call someone else in to do that. Advice: These guys are great with the tile roof, but don't ask for gutter cleaning. They didn't clean the downspouts and the water still overflows and leaks through the soffit.

Called company for repair when inside water damage was noted. Estimator was out within days. Contract was signed and work performed as quickly as weather permitted. Upon arrival, the crew stated they would finish the work by the end of the day. They were unable to, so returned for additional days, committed to doing the work properly rather than quickly. No additional charges were made for the extra time. It is always a pleasure doing work with this company.

Their pricing may be a little high in comparison to others, but their knowledge and professionalism is worth every penny. They are the only company that we use for our tile roof.

Once the work was quoted (this took the longest) they were on the job in two days since there was a break in the winter weather. The installation was quick, efficient and timely, completing just as the snow started to fall again. The snow guards have worked perfectly ever since eliminating avalanches from upper roof.
