He sounded very professional. He went out and measured things and said he would mail me the estimate. I thought it was strange that he didn't give it to me right away like the other companies. I don't know if that is normal since I have never done a job like this before. His estimate was 60% higher then the other company I got an estimate from. I really liked the way that he presented himself.

They provided all of the information before their work. They communicated with us very well and kept us up to date with what they were doing. They did very good quality work. They were the most professional of all the providers that we talked to.

Very well. The contractor gave the estimate late 2007 and indicated the best time for the work was in the Spring of 2008. The contractor called in the spring and set a time for the work. The job took about two to three days.During the job, the contractor indicated that a section of the porch wall had deteriorated and needed to be replaced. I appreciated this suggestion very much! Also, after the job was finished there were holes in the brick from the old metal bar porch railings that were removed. The contractor returned and mortared/repaired these holes for an additional cost. Overall, the job was completed very well!

It went very well. Paul Tensing was a pleasure to work with and I am currently contacting him to complete some more work.

Estimate arrived a couple days after rep. Came out. We eventually added on to jobs we wanted and got estimate from another source able to do the additional work.

I received a very competitive proposal last fall and set up for completion of all work by May 15th. The work had many challenges as access to the pool was very difficult and stabilizing the deck was a challenge. They completed the work on time. The job planning and clean-up were exceptional.

Went very well. They were courteous. Everything they removed got hauled away. Good clean up. I feel that the porch isn't going to fall in anytime soon.

Although it took Tensing a while to get to our project, we were very pleased with the work. Paul came out in August 2007 to give us the estimate and seemed very knowledgeable. We accepted his proposal probably late September and were told they would probably get to us late November. This was fine with us as we were not in a hurry. We ended up getting pushed back to the beginning of January. Paul kept us up to date as to what their schedule looked like, and thankfully we were not in a hurry. Paul's brother and about 3 young men completed the work. Paul's brother was very personable and stopped work to answer all of our questions and explain what they were doing when we came home from work. All the workers seemed very conscientious and we are very pleased with the final work. The crew also removed several overgrown bushes next to the walkout free of charge and did an exceptional job re-laying our patio stones. The stones looked better than they did before Tensing came out.

Very responsive and professional. Chose to hire a less expensive contractor. ($18,000)

I called Tensing a few months back to get my driveway redone so I had a previous business relationship with them. Instead of my driveway, I had the walkway replaced. I was given orders by the US Navy to move to Virginia so I was on a very tight schedule. I called Paul on Wed and his brother, Mark came out and did the work on that next Saturday! I was surprised not only at the speed of the schedule but that Mark was willing to come out on a weekend. Wow, did he do a great job! It would have taken me at least three days to get accomplished what he did in only one. The quality is outstanding and the only downside is that I can enjoy the walkway for only one more week! I give a "B" for price only because I didn't compare. Mark admits that they're not the cheapest in town -- and that's not what I'm looking for. I want the best quality and that's exactly what they delivered. Mark is a great guy, extremely polite and explained exactly what he was doing the whole time.

Took longer for them to come out than originally expected, due to weather and bigger jobs. Once they arrived, the work was performed in one day. It took them a few extra days to come back to clean up and pick up their supplies. In all, the repairs look great.

Tensing Construction did a terrific job. We now have a complete, functioning downspout drainage system, rebuilt window wells, an attractive paver walkway, and fewer leaks in the basement. Tensing were consummate professionals. They arrived on time, worked hard, were courteous, pleasant and helpful, cleaned up each night, and most importantly, they did the work right. If weather was bad, Paul would phone ahead to say they wouldn't work that day. The crew offered good advice on materials for the replacement walkway, and did a very nice and solid installation job. The scope of the project increased from the original estimate to include replacing the window wells and the paver walk. We were "flying blind" on costs for a while, and the final bill came in a bit higher than hoped, but "you get what you pay for." Tensing's costs per-day were in line with separate, similar-sized crews doing tree and foundation work at the same time. We were glad to have Tensing as contractor.

My husband was delighted. They were very easy to work with, just great.

Paul returned our call quickly, and came out to discuss the job. He gave us good, practical suggestions and worked with us to get the look we wanted, and for the wall to function as a support for a flower bed as well as a retaining wall by the patio. He quickly understood our life style, and helped us get a product that fit in and that we would enjoy. He was working under an extremely tight timeline, since we had a family wedding coming up soon, and we would have scads of people at the house. He made sure to finish so that we had time after the installation to do some landscaping so that our patio looked lovely. He and his workers were very careful to clean up and treat our property as if it were theirs. He used some student workers, which pleased my UC husband. I cannot tell you how pleased I was with his attitude and professionalism, and his willingness to accomodate our needs. Maybe the job could have been done for less, but the cost was worth the convenience and quality.

They did a great job. They cleaned up well. They were here 2 days. The wall turned out better than I expected.

Work was started soon after the estimate. We decided to have some damaged bricks on the wall of the garage (buried behind dirt in flower bed) replaced by a masonry company, and Tensing willingly coordinated with them directly to get the work done. The new wall looks great and seems to work as planned.

We had to wait a long time to have the work completed, but it was worth it. Paul Tensing completed the work very quickly once it was started. We had a few places where the concrete was damaged at the front of the garage in the process, but Paul made sure these areas were fixed quickly. Very responsive to any little areas like that. In fact, several months later on another estimate, we pointed out a place where the old driveway had crumbled a little where it butted up against the new concrete, and he fixed it without even being asked.

I initially talked to Paul Tensing's wife. It took him 5 days to return my phone call and he said he would call me after he got back from vacation. He called a week later and came out to look at the project. He had a completely different view on how to repair the wall. At least 5 other contractors have looked at this project and his idea was new. I didn't like the idea, but it was nice to get another point of view. He did not send a quote. He is obviously very busy.

I was very pleased with them and they did a very good job. They were prompt and professional. I would hire again if needed.

Fantastic! In three weeks they built a 15' tall, 150' long retaining wall and fence, installed new conduits along the road, and built a new driveway. It all looks great and is very well constructed. They were also very clean and quiet. They may be a bit expensive, but the value is outstanding.

I don't know the quality of Mr. Tensing's work as we were not able to get a bid from him. My wife and I spoke to him a total of three times (answering the SAME questions in each of the last two phone calls) and never received the promised written bid.

They did a beautiful job. They were very professional. They knew what they were doing. They went out of their way to please us.

Tensing Contractors is a family business, and the care and quality of their work is evident. They spent close to 3 weeks on our job. They arrived each day at the prescribed time, and put in some very long days. They put an extreme amount of care and detail into the work. Even the finishing ripples in the concrete to decease slippage in the winter are elaborately done. We have had cars stop in front of our house, and people knock on our door for information about who did the work. We have asked the Tensings for extra business cards that we can keep to give out to interested people.

DID EXCELLENT WORK. MIGHT NOT BE THE CHEAPEST, BUT HE DOES EXCELLENT WORK.
