Description of Work: Phil was totally awesome! Punctual, quick, and the price made it a great value. I've found the last plumber I'll ever need.

Description of Work: I was trying to work with the water company about a huge water bill that i had. I hired this company and they came out and charged me $ for the service call. They came out again with a "water detective" to see where the leak was occuring. They pinpointed it, and I paid another $250 for that service. They made another appointment to come out to fix it, and I asked them if they needed to get into the house, b/c I wasn't going to be home, and they told me they wouldn't. I left my cell number with them. They called me when they came out to say they needed to get into the house. I got home and called them back, and found they had dug a big hole where the leak was. They wanted to work on the leak via my basement (unfinished) but i had a lot of personal items down there. They charged me $324 for two hours of service. I ended up calling another plumber to come out. That plumber told me the leak wasn't where the other plumber said it was, so the new plumber dug a whole and fixed the leak. Later there were email back and forth between this plumber and I inquiring about an itemized list of charges. They just said they did the work and I still owed the money. I replied back that the leak wasn't where they said it was, but they said it didn't matter b/c their recommended fix would have worked. I just didn't want it done that way. They seemed to be very vague about there charges for the entire job.

Description of Work: My sink was leaking. They located and replaced the missing part. Actually, I just checked and the sink is STILL leaking, though not as much as before. There was a possibility of it being two parts to blame, and to save me money, they replaced only one. But now I'm going to have to spend more money and have them come back and replace the other part, as well. Oh well. Their intentions were good. It's hard to spend as much to repair a sink as I would to replace it.

Description of Work: Bathroom sink was completely clogged and had standing water. The floors were covered with protective drop clotths and an electric "snake" cleared drain. Water was left running for several minutes to ascertain that drain was clog free. They did a nice job of cleaning up after themselves. They also gave me an estimate "on the spot" (at my request) to replace all the hot water lines and a laundry tub. The only reason I selected a B for the overall experience is that I would have liked them to 1) Wear protective booties over their shoes 2) been a little more communicative about what they were doing as the work progressed.

Description of Work: Called Tarvin for a quote on a kitchen remodel. Mike Tarvin came out and we liked him a lot. In our brief communications with him he was honest, up front, punctual and very professional. He did a simple kitchen design for us and even invited us to his home to see his remodel which had some similiarities to our situation. We ended up not going with Tarvin because he used standardized stock cabinets and it would limit our design possibilities and we felt some of our kitchen issues might need some customized work. My wife was also agonizing about design ideas and felt we needed the help of someone who had lots of experience just in that area so we ended up paying more out of pocket and going with a firm who had a built in designer and a lot of help making the myriad decisions since we were overwhelmed by the process.

Description of Work: Have had Tarvin out to renovation work in our bathroom, including shower tile work. They were great, so called to get an estimate when our water heater needed to be replaced. Their price was fair and the work was exceptional.

Description of Work: The plumber, who I have used before, promptly fixed a broked pipe in the basement and replaced an old shower head I had been unable to remove. He was professional, did good work, prompt, and I most certainly will use again.

Description of Work: A drainage pipe that drained a kitchen sink and a basement shower was clogged and caused a back-up in basement floor drain. The problem was identified before their arrival so I could request specifically what was needed which was a drain augered. Everything went fine and I appreciated that they were able to give the hourly rate of the plumber over the phone. The surprise was that there was a fee for the "apprentice" that was about 50% the rate of the plumber and a fee for the auger. This is probably standard practice for plumbing but I was surprised by the additional fees.

Description of Work: Very professsional service. I had a nasty order coming from my closet next to my bathroom and it turn out that I had a crack exhaust vent. Decided to go ahead and get the bathroom redone since they would have to go into the walls. They were very professional and came up with solutions that made sense. Price was higher than the other companies I talked to but there service was well worth it. Would use them again.

Description of Work: They have done plumbing projects three or four times in a building I own.

Description of Work: I had a busted outside spicket. I had Tarvin replace the current spiket and move it out from under the deck (about 10 ft of pipe away). They had to work in a very uncomfortable space. They installed a valve inside the house and provided some slant on the outside line to make it easy to empty in the winter. They did a great job with the outside piping and installed a spiket just in the right place. I was very pleased with the outcome. My only beef is that the cost was a bit high...

Description of Work: Replaced leaky pipes in different locations around the house.

Description of Work: Replaced hot water heater. Upsized. Met some connection challenges in order to put the new heater in the same spot as the old.

Description of Work: Jim cleaned out a clogged drain pipe. He had to take several of the pipes out from under the sink to get to the clog, but he did a very thorough job and advised me on how to keep clogs from happening again. Everything went smoothly. No plumber's crack, polite, knowledgeable, quality work. When I asked for an estimated time of arrival they gave me one & were very close. Great job, keep up the good work.

Description of Work: leaking shower drain; not sure what was happening. As it turns out, the shower pan originally installed is worthless--just normal use alone causes it to leak. So, we'll have to replace the pan with marble, tile, something like that.
