Description of Work: My water heater was leaking from the pipe that is connected to the overflow valve. I was going to spend in upwards of $700.00 to have whole unit replaced. The tech came and accessed the job and told me "good news", you only need to replace the overflow valve and thermal tank. Apparently the valve was all yucky looking and stuff which caused it not to work properly. It cost me much less than I had expected and he could have taken me (a single woman) for a long $700.00 ride. I like that he was honest, helpful and courteous.

Description of Work: The company arrived promptly and were knowledgeable and professional. They were able to unclog my kitchen sink and remove and replace my antiquated garbage disposal. The plumber provided exemplary work and it saved me additional dollars .

Description of Work: I had a leak in my basement wall. Dan arrived and cemented up the opening around the water main entrance into the house. He also fixed a toilet that wouldn't stop running 'til I turned on the faucet. He was friendly, professional, and very helpful. Thanks, Dan!

Description of Work: Bought a bid deal coupon for Tarvin plumbing from Angie's. Spoke wthi Mike Tarvin via email the same day i bought the coupon, and he had a service call scheduled within 3 busniess days. Ellis (plumber) called promptly at 8:00 AM, and was at my home by 8:15. Ellis and I walked around the house and identified the 4 items on my list, and he quickly went to work. Started with a clogged Toilet - nothing a lot of magic with a snake couldnt solve, but i had been workng a plunger for nearly a month, and could not get it flowing well. On to a clogged drain, which Ellis quickly found a bottle cap stuck in, and he fished it out, and then plunged to ensure all was clear. On to the kitchen sink and a loose faucet. Ellis had to take out the disposal to get in under the sink, but this was also quicikly done. Fnallly, on to the shut off faucet for an outside faucet, where Ellis simply tightened the packng and all was done. i know that many reading this will quickly say, these are all things a home owner should be able to do - and they would be right. except, i dont have the time, and my wife is ill, in and out of the hospital. This quickly proved to be one of the best experiences i have had wtih a plubmer and/or wthi any contractor in the last couple of years. Thank you Ellis, Thanks you Tarvin

Description of Work: The plumber called first to let me know he was enroute and when to expect him, I had prepped the shower area knowing that the plumber would need access the pipes in the walls. He proceeded to address the problem by replacing and rerouting the leaky pipe. The work looks good and the problem fixed. I'm happy!

Description of Work: I had a garbage disposal installed by a family member - when he went to reconnect the pipe the pipe from the wall came off in his hand. It was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I called Tarvin Plumbing - the person I spoke with said they could possible get there the same day - if not the next day for sure. A representative from Tarvin called before 1:00 p.m. came to our home and was able to complete the job in less than an hour. I did advise him there was some additional work that we will need and that we will be calling in the near future.

Description of Work: They are prompt and courteous. However, they don't clean up well after a job. We had three things done by them. The price charged is rather high for the quality of the work. Also, they made a mistake on a plumbing installation and will not accept responsibility for it. Overall, I give them a C- grade.

Description of Work: "They were easy to schedule and came on time. Unfortunetly, when they snaked the tub drain, the end of the snake broke off in the drain/pipe so the drain still runs slow. The other repairs completed that day went well, replaced trap and replaced pipe in the sink."

Description of Work: Apollo offered a "complementary" plumbing inspection, claimed to have found a leak near my hot water heater, shut off my gas, and wanted $587 to repair a small leak in a joint on the gas line. I told them to take a walk and called Tarvin. They were very profewssional and responsive. Their guy came in, checked for leaks, tightened the pipe joints and didn't have to replace anything. I only paid for the service call, which was cheaper due to the coupon available on this website. The only caveat to this experience is that only 2 days later suddenly my hot water heater stopped heating the water. It seems to be working and the pilot light is lit, but it won't kick on to heat. Due to the extreme coincidence of time, I am going with another company to look into that issue. I'm not accusing the current ocmpany of wrongdoing, but I am being cautious and going with someone else for that call just in case.

Description of Work: I found the basement floor drain was backing up. I could not run any water without making the backup bigger. I called Tarvin Plumbing the morning of August 8 and talked to Mike Tarvin (Owner). I found him to be very courteous and professional. He asked me several questions to make sure there might be another cause for the floor drain to back up. Based on our conversation he said he would have his crew come out and snake the drain and that I would receive a call approx. an hour before the crew came. The crew came about mid-afternoon and unclogged the drain. They were great!

Description of Work: Had a clog in my kitchen sink due to throwing too much dry stuff down the disposal. They came within the hour, did the job and even did work on my shower head when I asked if they had the time.

Description of Work: While out of town on business travel, I asked my parents to check in on my house since we had been having a couple days of solid rain. They found the sump pump was not working, the sump pit was full of water, and there was water coming out of every crack in the basement slab. It was fairly late (9 or 10 pm) but I called Tarvin anyways. They had a voicemail that allowed me to page the on-call plumber. Within 5 minutes of the page, Alex from Tarvin called me back and I asked him to come over to look at the sump pump. He was on another call but said he would be there in 45 minutes. Within that time, possibly a bit before, he was at the house and put in a replacement sump pump after doing some troubleshooting on the old one. The sump pit has a radon mitigation system, which he sealed back up before leaving. The work was spot-on the estimate and was done professionally. I would definitely recommend this company.

Description of Work: My disposal wasn't working, so I called to have someone come out--they were very responsive on the phone; very pleasant to deal with in scheduling. The plumber arrived approx 10 mins later than scheduled, but it had been raining and traffic was a problem that day.He fixed the disposal and then when I mentioned a leak in the faucet, he took a look and recommended a new faucet--this was not a surprise to me as I knew it had been leaking for awhile and was an older model. He ended up having a nice looking faucet in his van and I agreed to have him install it that day. I was able to use my Angie's List coupon for the service which helped out. Overall, good experience---will use them again.

Description of Work: We had our bathroom remodel by another contractor who did a horribly job on installing the shower stall. Contacted Tarvin Plumbing to see if they would give us estimate on repairs. We left two messages.They finally called us back only to tell us that they did not want to get involved. So if you have a Holmes on Home case don't call them.
