S&K replaced our AC unit. The weather has been cool so we have not tested it yet but the service was great. Tim showed up on time, worked efficiently and cleanly, provided us with explanation and timeline during the process and overall seemed professional and courteous. His assistant was also friendly, helpful and professional.

Very well. Furnace setup improved to prevent accidental leaks by placing on a pan with drain and emergency shut off. Rearranged feeder lines to get better flow to further reaches of the house. Saved$2200 with free furnace offer when replacing A-C.

Great - turned out pilot was out and was able to be restarted. Employee restarted pilot, showed me how to do it if happened again, due to age of water heater he also provided a couple other problems that could cause this and the cost of repairs

All went well. No problem. We had drained the old water heater before they arrived. They did a good job soldering the new heater into the piping-no leaks.

I know that good plumbers are expensive, and Schneller & Knochelmann plumbers are very good. I've used them for years because I know that they're going to do the job right. But I don't think I can justify paying their rates anymore. Their standard rate for installing a customer-supplied toilet was $407. I was stunned. That's a job that normally takes less than half an hour. If they also have to remove the existing toilet (they did not in my case) it might take a bit longer. I called a few others places with good reputations and goods ratings on Angie's List for the sake of comparison and I was quoted rates ranging from a flat fee of $75 to $140 per hour with a one-hour minimum. That puts Schneller & Knochelmann's standard rates at roughly three to five times their competitors'. I hired them to do the work anyway, because I did not realize how expensive it was until the guy was standing in my house and I did not want to wait to get someone else out there. (We had taken apart the bathroom to refinish floors and walls and had scheduled this appointment a few weeks earlier, not realizing how expensive it was.) Plus, as I said, I knew it would be done right. Everything looks good and works properly, and if it there's any issue I have no doubt that they will stand behind their work. But I think that some of the other local reputable plumbers I talked to would also do it right and stand by their work, and they'd have charged me less than half as much.
