Description of Work: I have been a paying customer of Schneller Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning for several years. I purchased new A/C from them. They have done plumbing work for me. I also maintained a Preventive Maintenance Contract with them for several years. So, when a Big Deal came up for mainline sewer cleaning and televising, I did not hesitate to purchase it. | |On 4/6/16, the plumber, Scott B. showed up; I ushered him down to the main drain, which had wide open access, and casually mentioned that the laundry tub runs slow sometimes; he immediately and flatly stated that he would NOT do the main drain work which he was hired to do. | |He then stood there and punched some numbers into his iPad, turned to me and said that if I would renew my Preventive Maintenance membership at $180, THEN he would take care of the 'slow' drain problem for an ADDITIONAL 'discounted' rate of $162. Total for that day would have been $342.00! | |I said, 'What about the money I already paid for the Big Deal?', to which he replied, 'You'll have to talk to whoever sold you that coupon, but it won't apply to this work'. He didn't even offer to do his suggested work for the price I had already paid. | |As my heart rate and blood pressure increased, I quickly and calmly shook his hand and told him, "Get out!", which I had to repeat 3 more times while he made his stammering way out the back door. | |Of course, he emailed me a copy of my 'invoice' in which there were at least two factual 'errors'. | | He says, in his report, that I told him "anytime we run the laundry the drain runs slow". In fact, I casually mentioned that the laundry tub sometimes runs slow. | | He says, in his report, that he "noticed the galvanized line going to the cast iron stack". In fact, that line is PVC, which he could have quickly known if he had actually gotten down to look at it or touch it. | |But, he never so much as bent at the waist. With such a thorough 'examination', he identified the 'problem'. | |He never even elaborated on just what he proposed to do. Assuming he had replaced the 'galvanized' line for $162, that would have been $54/foot! | |My experience with Schneller today violates The Schneller Promise in so many ways I hardly know where to start, but Promise #10 stands out. If this is how you treat family, I would hate to be even a casual acquaintance, let alone your enemy. | |Your "goal is to always live these principles with integrity"?!?! | |I sent this report in a letter to Kris Knochelmann, the owner of Schneller, and 7 weeks later I have heard absolutely nothing. Schneller's automated system has asked for my feedback via survey at least twice, as has Angie's List. Today, I am wrapping up these requests for feedback. |
