The kitchen floor (10" by 10" tiles) and woodwork turned out great. But the bathroom floor (@ 2" hex and smaller diamond tiles) is a problem--the tiles aren't evenly spaced and some of them stick up at the ends even though they were attached to a mesh fabric--I was really disappointed. The other work was done well except I can't move the new stopper on my bathroom sink. I don't know if things got rushed a little, because the job was taking longer than the contractor estimated.
Description of Work: Jan and Feb 2007: Removed vinyl/linoleum kitchen and bathroom floors and replaced with tile, repaired bathroom subfloor, rewired dishwasher electric outlet, trimmed back door, installed baseboards, installed dishwasher, patched holes in plaster walls, installed new sink trap, etc.

Paul Klug came to give us an estimate not too long after our initial contact with him. He came armed with tape measure and binder with samples of his work and letter of recommendation. We were impressed with the samples he showed us. We were in communication with Paul as he put together his estimate. He talked to vendors to get the best prices for us for countertops. Paul also provided ideas for putting our kitchen space to best use. Paul even helped us out by winterizing our house when the heavy snowstorm knocked out our power for three days. He was very attentive in talking to us about prices and kept us informed every step of the way. The entire process took about 6 weeks. Our new kitchen is truly beautiful and spacious. We would recommend Paul Klug and Sawhorse Design for any project, and plan on asking him to put in a new deck for us next summer.
Description of Work: We had our entire old kitchen remodeled from top to bottom. There was a huge old island in the middle of the room and only one wall of older cabinets. We added new cabinets, tile floor, sink, countertop, and pantry, plus all new appliances.

It all went extremely well. What was first estimated as being a three-day job expanded to over two weeks as plans changed and more tasks were added. Paul was patient and calm throughout. His suggestions for expanding the project were correct. My original plan would've resulted in a half-done remodel. He works quietly & neatly. I worked at home while he was here. He was not a distraction and he thoroughly cleaned everything up when he was through. I will say that one reason I hired him was he was the fifth contractor I called for an estimate, but the first one who not only showed up to do an estimate but actually scheduled the work when I accepted his proposal. He was dependable, professional and thorough from my initial phone call through the end of the job. I would definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel; including tearing up the existing flooring and replacing it with ceramic tile. New vanity & top & faucet; moved medicine chest over toilet and hung mirror; replace existing light fixture; replace existing (ugly) shower doors with new ones; install towel bars/toilet paper holder. There was some water damage from a leak in the shower doors, so some floor & sub-floor repairs were required. Job then expanded to removing the existing tub & fixtures and surrounding tile and replacing it with a new tub and new wall tile in the tub/shower area. He also switched out some mirrored doors on the hall closet with the original wooden doors.

PAUL IS ALWAYS POLITE. HE IS VERY GOOD ABOUT GIVING SUGGESTIONS. HIS HELPERS WERE VERY NICE ALSO. THE PRICE WAS WHAT IT WAS. KITCHENS ALWAYS SEEM TO COST MORE THAN YOU THINK THEY WILL. HE ONLY CHARGED TIME AND MATERIALS TO US. WE HAD USED HIM BEFORE, SO WE KNEW HE WOULD BE FAIR. OUR KITCHEN IS A SHOWPLACE. WE HAD A COUPLE OF SMALL PROBLEMS, AND HE PROMPTLY MADE EVERYTHING RIGHT.
Description of Work: PAUL KLUG, THE OWNER, COMPLETED A COMPLETE RENOVATION OF OUR KITCHEN. IT WAS DOWN TO THE BARE STUDS. HE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB, AND CONSIDERING HOW MUCH WORK HAD TO BE DONE, IT WAS DONE QUICKLY. WE ARE QUITE PLEASED AND WOULD DEFINITELY USE HIM AGAIN.

HE WAS SENSITIVE TO OUR DESIGN IDEAS. HE WAS ON THE JOB EVERY DAY. EXCEPT FOR A CUSTOM CABINET WHICH WAS ORDERED AND HASN'T ARRIVED YET, THE WORK WAS DONE IN A VERY TIMELY FASHION. THIS IS THE THIRD JOB HE HAS DONE FOR US, AND HE IS NOW WORKING ON A FOURTH - OUR KITCHEN!
Description of Work: PAUL TOTALLY GUTTED A ROOM AND MADE IT INTO A BEAUTIFUL BATHROOM.
