RYAN HOMES

We worked with a great sales consultant who helped us pick out the layout. Ryan Homes has beautiful model homes which can be very deceiving. They had great layouts but in reality our closets were tiny and there wasn't a good use of space. We were very satisfied with the price and the time it took to build the house since it only took four months to actually build the house. The sales people are courteous and attentive. They guided us through the whole process. They never talked us into buying something we didn't want. They answered all our questions and returned our phone calls. They built our house quickly and it was completed in the time that was quoted. All the meetings went well. We were never dissatisfied with their professionalism, punctuality, or responsiveness. However, I would not recommend Ryan Homes because of the poor quality of the construction. After a few years we needed a new roof, new windows, new kitchen cabinets and a new furnace. Our siding was falling off. The county had to dig a trench in our yard because they built our home too high and the drainage was not working. Most of the fixtures (doorknobs, cabinets, toilets, etc.), cabinets, and carpet were of the poorest quality you can get. The paint was watered down and it was impossible to find a match for touchups. We had to repaint every room within the year. The hardwood floor was not sealed and had grooves that collected dirt and moisture. It was difficult to keep clean. The carpet was not stain resistant and the padding was awful. Be prepared to change almost everything in your home within the first couple of years. My friends who own older homes (greater than 20 years) have needed less repairs than us. I guess you get what you pay for since Ryan Homes tend to cost a lot less than other builders. My advice is if you are buying your first home, go with a custom builder or an older home that has stood the test of time.

WE DID NOT ENJOY THE BUILDER. THEY WERE SOMEWHAT EASY TO WORK WITH WHILE THEY WERE BUILDING, BUT WHEN THEY FINISHED BUILDING AND THINGS NEEDED TO BE FIXED THEY WERE VERY HARD TO WORK WITH. THEY DID NOT PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS.
