+ -1 moreTechnician arrived on time and began work - continiued working both inside and outside for five hours - took me around to show what he had done - was knowledgeable and courteous. This is a long-standing family operation. Another company that we called did not return call for most of the day and then said they could not come out until the next week. We were happy with the job that Reading Heating did for us. They offer a reasonable service contract which we will now use.
Description of Work: Replaced a part in furnace where freon leak was occurring - cleaned coil in outside unit - five hours of work

I met with 3 different companies for product and pricing information and was most impressed with Rick from Reading Heating and Air. The install team seemed very knowledgeable with many years of experience. I felt good about going with the company and will look to them when my a/c needs replacement.

+ -1 moreA technician came out to check the unit and quoted me a price. He told me that he would have to order a part and when they get the part, they will contact me. That was four weeks ago and I still haven’t heard anything from them. He wanted to charge me $200 something for the estimate, which I haven’t paid so far because the he told me that it would be deducted from the labor but he never called me back. They wanted to charge me for the estimate visit but they never gave me a quote on how much the repair would cost or how much the part would cost because they never got back in contact with me. I do not consider them reliable. I had to call them to remind them to come to my house and the receptionist did not even remember that I had called for an appointment.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Reading Heating & Air Conditioning for an air-conditioning repair.

+ -1 moreThey are on Angie's List. They are terrific. I normally have them twice a year for furnace and air conditioning cleaning and maintenance. They did an excellent job finding a leak in the valves coming out of the steam boiler furnace in the basement. They repaired it very inexpensively as $89 is not bad. Overall, they are outstanding. The pricing is fair.

+ -1 moreMy blower went out on my furnace over Memorial Day weekend and they came out and replaced it. They were here in under an hour and had the AC on again in another hour. I was very happy as it was in the 90's and I have a baby at home. I found their prices very reasonable for the day and time of the visit. I will continue to call them for future service.

They were very professional, thorough, and descriptive of all the work they intended to do, so that there were NO SURPRISES! The workmanship was absolutely excellent, with some features that would normally only be seen in a commercial installation. The owner, Rick Zimmer, visited the site during the installation to assure that the work was being performed as promised. I could not be more satisfied and would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: Reading Heating and Air Conditioning provided one of three bids I received for the complete replacement of my home heating and cooling system. My existing system was 20 years old and I wanted to take advantage of the federal tax credit, and local utility rebates. Reading came highly recommended by an associate from my place of employment and their references were checked on Angie's List. Their bid included a complete description, in detail, of what work they were proposing to perform, along with a list of the specific equipment, and a spreadsheet that was very helpful in determining the list of options I decided upon. We chose a new Bryant Furnace, Air Conditioner, Air Purifier, and Humidifier. Reading ended up being the lowest bidder, and were awarded the work.

Total time slpent was 1/2 hour; he cleaned the unit in addition to replacing the capacitor and checking the pressure. He was courteous and fast.

The work was checked often by the owner and I was kept up to date about the progress and then they would be completed. I fortunately had the luxury of interviewing multiple contractors and when my preferred vendor came in excessively high on price and wouldn't lower his quote, I opted to find a new installer. I was pleased with the work and have recommended the company to friends who have had the same experience.

+ -1 moreThe person sent out did not seem to know about boiler systems and said that a salesman from the company would call with recommendations. I never received a call. I did not spend any money, but they were a waste of time. I called another company who has been very knowledgeable, responsive and investor friendly.
Description of Work: Nothing was performed because I requested someone to check the entire boiler system on this house I bought for an investment. I explained that to the call taker, however, the serviceperson sent thought I requested clean and service. He could not perform the work needed, nor recommend what needed to be done before the system could be turned on.

+ -1 moreRick Zimmer, one of the owners of the company, came to do the estimate. He was timely and courteous, and gave us several options to choose from with both heat pumps and A/C. The installation was done about a week after the estimate, and the crew was on time and did a great job. Reading doesn't use subs for this work, and they have excellent employees. The operation of the unit and thermostat was thoroughly explained after the installation, and it has worked very well and saved money as advertised. We had another local company that spends a lot of money on advertising come in for a bid, and they were much less impressive than Rick's group.
Description of Work: Heat pump, thermostat, and humidifier installation. Removal of old A/C unit.

The men tracked dirt all over my house and the air conditioning never worked right. They were very reluctant to remedy the situation for their work.

Description of Work: Installed a new Bryant heat pump and air handler system including all piping and electrical wiring. They also, installed new ducting and registers in an additional room not originally served by our old system. They alerted us to rebates offered by Bryant and duke energy and handled the paper work for us. They also hauled away the old equipment. They responded to all questions in a timely manner and were prompt in their response to questions. They cleaned up the work area and were very courteous in all communications.
