Outside Insight

We wanted to create a more attractive patio, and considered removing the concrete patio to replace it with pavers. Since the concrete was in good shape, Scott recommended a more economical approach would be to install pavers over the concrete. He provided samples and recommended a border of darker stones surrounding lighter stones for our rectangular space. We also asked for his team to remove our aging wooden step and replace it with stone step. The results are fantastic! We now have a much more attractive rear patio, and his crew did a great job of installing the patio quickly (4 hours) and cleaned up everything. This is our third time working with Outside Insight. We use Scott and his team exclusively for our landscaping and hardscaping work for the following reasons. 1. Scott listens to and understands our vision for the outdoor space, and then provides exceptional designs. 2. The Outside Insight team is consistently extremely professional and fast in their execution, and the results are always perfect. 3. Scott works with us to stay within our budget for that year, while keeping an eye toward the future work we want to do in our outdoor space.

The crew worked hard and were polite. They did their best to make sure everything was the way I wanted it. I have someone in a wheelchair so wanted to be pay extra attention to making the area very accessible. The yard looks fantastic and will be a wonderful place to relax and enjoy when when the weather is nice. I am very pleased with the service. I am actually going to have them come back and do more work in my front yard!

I met with Scott Gifford of Outside Insight in July, 2015 to discuss installing a custom stone fire-pit and pergola with surrounding seating in the October timeframe. I provided him my plan and he and I talked through the construction details; 36" circular stone fire-pit lined with fire brick with a drain, 24" square by 36" high stone columns for the 6" x 6" pergola posts capped with stone, details about concrete footings and the joists and stringers, a 12' x 12" paver patio, and benches on three sides of the fire-pit made with the same premium decking materials my builder used on my home. Scott understood exactly what I wanted and he and his team delivered! What I had pictured in my mind is what Scott and his team built and my wife and I could not be happier! Scott is easy to work with, has great ideas, and has a professional team that was always on site and checking with me to make sure they were meeting my expectations. At the same time I had a Bizon Blue Spruce tree in my front yard that had died and I could not find anyone who could locate a Bizon Blue. The original landscape company who installed three Bizons for me was unresponsive and would not return my messages. Scott found a nursery in Burlington, Kentucky that had some trees and he arranged to pick up the tree and plant it for me. I highly recommend Scott Gifford and Outside Insight landscaping for anyone looking for professional landscape services that are customer focused, knowledgeable, and has very competitive pricing.

Scott Gifford has been great to work with. He has many good design ideas and has been very patient as we've worked through the process of finding the best options for our yard. We were even more pleased when his team came for installation. They were a great crew - very pleasant, courteous and professional. We enjoyed working with them and look forward to more projects with them in the future!

Job went very well and completed in two days. Great cooperation and communication particularly with plant selection. Impressed with the crew's skills, paid attention to details. Very considerate of surrounding areas and good cleanup. Crew was polite, provided explanation to my questions. Have received numerous compliments on the area.

Outside Insight did a fantastic job. They were here 2 days to do the work we agreed on. Scott explained everything beforehand and offered great suggestions which we used. The wall looks wonderful and the flagstone they laid alongside compliments the wall. The catch basin is concealed with decorative rocks. We could not be happier with the work done by this company and plan to use them again in 2016.

The company was great to work with. They were all extremely professional and friendly. It shows how much they care about doing things right - awesome company!

Outside insight came out and installed a patio with small retaining wall. It looks great. The workmen toiled non-stop all day and were able to finish the job in one day. There was great attention to detail and the workmen were very precise. The color of the pavers and the patio fit into the landscape beautifully. I think my neighbors are jealous. I plan to have a big party to show it off. I definitely would recommend Outside Insight they did a fantastic job!,

Scott was very professional in his interactions and detailed in describing the work to be done in the estimate and final contract. This was a large job and he and his crews did a great job especially given the weather conditions. He communicated effectively and was very personable as were his office staff. The grounds of the home look 100% better and I will use him again in the future. It was a great value and the final product was worth every cent!

Amazing job. Scott told me that I'd be surprised by how much his crew would be able to complete in 16 hours. Boy, was he right. The entire yard--front and back yard were weeded...and we had two seriously overgrown beds.

Scott the owner initially came to see what we were wanting to do. We explained that due to an auto accident in spring of 2014 we had basically lost a year of landscape maintenance so we formulated a plan to tackle the jungle. His crew came back and performed their tasks flawlessly as well as doing other things that had not been planned, such as trimming tree branches and clearing out other areas which needed work as they progressed through the day. The day after, Scott came by to see if we were satisfied, and he got a resounding YES! I will definitely be hiring Outside Insight again to keep going with this project. Thank you, Scott for having such an honest and trustworthy group. We purchased the package on Angie's list. Outside Insight was punctual in getting back to us regarding setting up an appointment time.

It took awhile to get started because they are justifiably very busy. Once they started, they finished ahead of schedule, even after I added a creek rock border to the job. Scott was very helpful with ideas and suggestions. We love the result and may use them again this summer.

We received several proposals but we chose to go with Scott because he listened to our ideas and made design choices that would fit in with our shady front yard. When he came across other plants that he thought might work better he was sure to contact us to get approval. The crew arrived and worked very efficiently and they were also respectful of our property and that of our neighbor's. The job took two days and the finished product looks even better than we had imagined. A few plants were difficult to obtain so Scott special ordered them and one of his employees came over a few weeks later to install them. Overall we had a great experience and we look forward to working with Outside Insight for our deck replacement and patio installation.

The work progressed in a satisfactory manner. This was a two day job. Scott was very creative incorporating the existing landscaping and plants with new landscaping and plants. The men worked hard all day and didn't leave until late in the day. They also mulched everything when they were finished with installation and they cleaned up the areas really well when they were finished. The only negative thing that happened was that they cut one of the wires to the landscape lighting but when I called and reported this Scott came out and fixed the wire for us and also gave us two fence rails and installed them for ones that were missing in our fence. Scott was very responsive to any questions or concerns that we had during the initial design and also when the work was being done. All in all, a very good experience for us. We are considering them for additional work.

They were very good. They are punctual, they do excellent work and they do what you tell them to do. They were on time.

Very good! Work began almost immediately after contract signed and deposit made in early December 2014. Except for one week of extremely cold temperatures, the work proceeded uninterrupted to completion in early January. A heated tent was set-up so stone cutting and masonery work could continue and set despite weather conditions. The workers were friendly and diligent. The company owner showed up regularly to monitor progress and kept in touch with us throughout the process.

Fabulous! We were impressed with the frequent communication from our initial inquiry, the professionalism of the crew and the completed project. The crew was respectful of our home and our family and were very knowledgeable about our project. Scott was also on sight daily to check on the progress and answer questions. We are so happy and would absolutely recommend Outside Insight.

From start to finish I have been overwhelmed by Scott's attention to detail, customer service and his professionalism. We had a fabulous experience with him and I was actually sad when the project was over because I enjoyed working with him and his team so much! Scott worked tirelessly with us in the planning phases to incorporate certain designs we liked while also sticking to our budget. He was very creative with his ideas and concious of keeping costs down by using existing materials where possible (transplanting existing plants instead of buying new). He took several different elements we liked and incorporated them into a beautiful design. After we agreed on design Scott was very proactive about touching base before the project started to let me know timing and to make final design decisions. The work crew showed up on on time the first day (and every day thereafter). Each person on the team was polite, professional and knowledgeable about the overall project. We ran into a few small issues along the way which they promplty brought to my attention and worked on finding a good solution that we were happy with. I could tell they were very well trained and experienced and committed to providing a product they were proud of. On the last day I expected they would sweep up before leaving but even then, they went above and beyond my expectations. Scott walked through my entire yard with me to make sure I was happy with the project and to see if there was anything else they could do before they left. The project was geared toward the left side of our front yard/patio, but they cleaned up the entire front yard and planting beds, even pruning back a few untidy bushes and moving a few plants to better locations. I was absolutely blown away by the final project and continue to receive compliments on it. My 80 year old house looks brand new. I am so grateful to Scott and his crew for their work on this project and will definitely have them back in the future.

Scott was great to work with. He responded quickly to our request to help make an undefined backyard space more appealing. Scott listened to our needs. He understood that the house was going to be put up for sale and that we didn't want to go overboard on costs. His ideas were great and the work was completed even earlier than we anticipated. He even came back on a rainy Saturday to show us the proper way to water the new plants. We are planning to use Scott again in our new home. Always responsive. Very personable. Highly recommend.

Scott was very punctual in responding to my inquiry for an estimate. We were hoping to have the work done before a family gathering in May and Scott really put forth the extra effort to make that happen. They worked very hard to replace the edging which turned out to be very time consuming. Dakota was very pleasant to have around and an extremely hard worker. Once the edging was re-set they did the pressure washing to remove the surface sand and algae growth from the joints and replaced the sand using a vibration tool to work the sand down into the joints. After letting that dry for a day they came to pour the sealant. It took quite a lot of sealant to do the entire patio since it had never been sealed before. Scott stayed to make sure that the job was going well and left only after he felt comfortable that they could complete the job properly. Scott and his crew were very pleasant to work with during the entire process. They were punctual and professional and the guys cleaned up after themselves thoroughly. I had to contact Scott about a couple of the joints that were not completely filled and he responded immediately and came out the next day, fixing the issue. He told me that if I had any further issues with the work to contact him immediately so he could attend to the problem. The whole process took a few days to complete but we are so happy with the results. There has been no sign of algae growing in the joints which was a constant problem last year. I would not hesitate to contact him again or recommend this company to friends and family.

We contacted 3 different landscape companies for estimates on our landscape work based on positive reviews in Angie?s List. We were looking for a company that could take our basic vision and translate it into a unique design that complemented the old growth woods around our home and focused on incorporating primarily native plants. In short we were looking for something more than a cookie cutter approach to our design. In our first meeting with Scott it was obvious that Outside Insight completely understood our vision and was able to take a truly creative approach to achieving it. In our interactions with Scott he listened to our ideas and proposed solutions that took those ideas to the next level. Scott brought a level of creativity to the project that went well beyond our expectations. He sent us the design in advance of the work for our feedback and approval, and we were able to swap out a few plants to fine tune to our aesthetic preferences. Scott stayed in regular contact with us during the execution phase, and dropped by more than once to discuss the progress and get our feedback. Scott and his crew easily accommodated a couple of additions we had during the execution phase. The Outside Insight crew is extremely professional and highly skilled. I strongly recommend Outside Insight for any landscaping needs. I will definitely be using them for future work and ongoing landscape maintenance.

We had originally requested a quote back in the fall, but did not pull the trigger until late spring. In the end, everything went as well as we could have hoped. Scott and all members of his team were very courteous, professional, and punctual throughout the process. Everybody was easy to work with and seemed knowledgeable of their craft. We had some material changes that we requested mid-process, but Scott took the time to work with us and make sure we were comfortable with the project at all times, including providing his expertise and recommendations. Whenever we made a special request, they were happy to accommodate us, which includes going above and beyond what we had expected multiple times like providing extra mulch for other areas around the house outside the scope of the project at no cost to us. We would definitely recommend Outside Insight to anybody interested in a hardscape + softscape project like ours.

It went fine. There were a few problems, but they came and fixed it.

Great working with Outside Insights. The workers were all very knowledgeable on where things needed to go and what could be re-purposed without additional cost. Finished all of the work in two days. They were very timely and explained how we need to take care moving forward.

The job went great. Scott was very professional and prompt in providing his estimate and starting the work and the quality and look of the work is what you hope for. I often feel contractors don't treat the work like they would if it was their home they were working on, and that is not the case with Scott and his crew. They paid attention to the details and finished the job they way they would have wanted it done. I will use Scott again.
