Description of Work: I need a kitchen cabinet work done along with trim and installation of an oven and a refrigerator brought in from the garage and installed and trim around the kitchen baseboard. I also requested work to be done in my entry hallway to sand down the wall and prime it and also replace the baseboard and replace the outside lights on the soffit. When working with the kitchen cabinet they knew that the sink cabinet was the second one that I purchased due to the fact that the first one had been cut and they had advised in their opinion that they cut out the back and they would put it back in and you wouldn't even notice that had been cut out. However the work they did was at the end of November beginning of December and I don't know where that I forgot about me or just got busy with other jobs I don't know how to guess but they did do work in the kitchen and they charged me per hour each day for 2 days which amounted to approximately $2,500. Their quote for the work altogether was $2,300 and I was not told that they were going to come in and charge me per hour I was told it was 2300 for the job. But I paid them the hourly rate for the first day and I paid them the hourly rate for the second day and it ended up being approximately $2,500. Although the work was not finished and it has been determined that I needed to order a different lazy Susan. So I did send them a list of 4 lazy Susans that Home Depot recommended in replacement of the one that I had. I did get response back from a lady from the office on a few occasions saying that she was still waiting to hear back from Chris Draper. At this point the refrigerator is in place but not totally in place and the oven is in place but not anchored and no work had been done in the entry hall as of yet and the lighting outside had not yet been done. I had sent several e-mails notifying them that the countertop company was coming to install the countertop and the next day the plumber was coming to install the sink and the dishwasher. At this point the back of my sink cabinet was still sitting there cut out the refrigerator still not installed and approximately three weeks had gone by maybe even for not certain exactly and no response except for the lady who responded to me telling me that she was waiting on a response from Chris Draper. At one point I did get a message saying that Kris Draper told her that only two of the lazy Susans would fit what did I want to do. I responded back I just wanted them to order one that would accomplish may not have time to get on my hands and knees to get my pots and pans out of a blind corner cabinet to order whatever that would be to accomplish that. No one ever made an attempt to come here or call me to set up anything to make sure my sink and it was reassembled properly like they had promised when they cut the back of it out. They had already been paid what their price was originally told to me for the whole job which was obviously not going to be the price for the entire job and I knew I was going to be expected to pay more just by the way things were going. I'm not a person that likes conflict so I was just going to go ahead and pay them and instead of paying $2,300 I figured this was probably going to cost me around $3,600 once it was finished. Well the countertop ended up being installed and I never heard from Mr Handyman and the next day the plumber is here installing the dishwasher and sink and then Mr Handyman calls and says that they have 4 hours this afternoon with nothing to do so they could come over and do some work at my house. Well at this point there is no way to fix my kitchen sink cabinet without cutting the back of it up to put it back together which is disturbing. This could have been avoided had they not forgotten about me or whatever happened. But at this point I paid them what they originally quoted me and approximately half the work has been done. My kitchen sink cabinet is cut up and I will have to figure out how to fix that myself probably cut it in three pieces and Gorilla Glue it together which is not a very impressive way of fixing up a kitchen at this point with this much money that I've got invested in it. So I went back to Angie's List to look for another handyman to finish up the work that has not been done and I see that Mr Handyman has advertised that he can do $2,500 worth of work in one week. I was not going to say anything about the work at my house. I was just moving on and using the handyman doctor of Mason Ohio. But when I saw Mr Handyman advertising that he could do $2,500 worth of work in one week this was very perplexing to me and after the way that they quoted me $2,300 total for my work and ended up charging the hourly per day and I paid $2,500 and my work is not finished I felt I must report this. The customer used us for 2 projects in 2016. The first was moving furniture. She was very satisfied and we even donated some of our charges to her cause because she was doing a good deed for the neighborhood. We thought that she was very appreciative of this. The second project was to repair a long list of items and damages caused by another contractor. The customer had been trying to remodel her kitchen for months and had numerous issues with contractors and materials. We provided her a list of items discussed on the first visit and gave her an approximate estimate in October. She was going to call us when she was ready for us to start. She scheduled and canceled a couple times before narrowing down a work date of 11/25 and 11/28. When arriving on 11/25 the technician saw that the entire scope of work changed and discussed with the customer that the only way to move forward and complete would be billing for our Time plus Materials. She agreed and we moved forward with the work. On 11/25 we had the lead technician and a helper out and on 11/28 we had our Service supervisor and the lead technician out wrapping up what was discussed on 11/25. She did ask that we plan to come back after the other contractors finished up there work. This would be to put on a panel on the back of the sink base and to complete some additional work outside that had nothing to do with the kitchen. She was going to get back with us to schedule this work. She paid in full for the two days of service and thanked the technicians for the work that was done. At a later date she contacted the lead service technician directly to have him speak with the plumber and they discussed that the sink panel would have to be cut in half to put back behind the cabinet when we returned. We knew this because this was always our plan and agreed with the contractor. The customer got back on the phone with our technician and told him she was upset and didn't want us back out. She has been upset with the entire remodel and we only played a small part in the job so we assumed she was using someone else to put the panel back in. She never reached out to us again until she left this review. I contacted her as soon as seeing it and had a lengthy conversation with her and found out she is still trying to finish the remodel and is upset about the entire project and told me the technicians did a good job and we shouldn't take it personally. Also I discussed the pricing that she noted and we determined that she didn't have the correct company or facts and was confused. These prices are not correct. I offered to come back and finish anything that she thought wasn't done or to repair anything she thought needed repairing. She said she didn't want that and she doesn't care if she ever finishes this remodel. Unfortunately we were caught in the middle of a customer's project that went terribly wrong and she felt the need to vent to someone and found us on Angie's List. This isn't fair to our company and this customer can't be satisfied on this project. There is nothing else we can do.

Description of Work: CUSTOMER SERVICE NIGHTMARE. I hired Mr Handyman of Northern Kentucky to come in and perform a long list of tasks. I worked from home on Monday while he was in the house. He did not arrive until noon...and I hate to work from home so I was very committed to getting the work done come heck or high water. He was a very nice fellow, but did not seem knowledgable about the tasks. He had some problems installing the new hinges on 3 kitchen cabinets, but got it done. He couldn’t figure out how to install the 3 valances in the kitchen and I couldn’t remember how they were installed, so one of them ended up completely wrong and he had to reinstall it after I talked to my husband and figured out how they should be installed. He broke the corner off of the bathroom mirror when he hung it. Any reasonable and intelligent person would have told him it wasn’t working out and he should leave...but I am so laid back and was determined to get the work done. He successfully hung some hooks, shelves and pictures. But he couldn’t figure out how to install the new vent covers correctly. He hung a stained glass piece in front of the downstairs bathroom window, but couldn’t figure out how to hang the stained glass piece in the upstairs bathroom. The trouble really started when he attempted to install the kitchen faucet. He thought he needed to drill some holes in the sink because there was an extra piece. Fortunately I looked at it and said that piece was OPTIONAL and no holes needed to be drilled. He studied the instructions at length on how to install the faucet, but really struggled. In the process the hot water dispenser next to the faucet was damaged and started to leak. He could not figure out how to fix the hot water dispenser so we turned off the water. After he left, I noticed that the faucet handle was ****-eyed so that it was turned to the back when the hot water was on...instead of to the left...and turned to the front when the cold water was on....instead of to the right. Sigh. My husband did whatever was necessary to straighten the faucet out, but we are going to have to call a plumber to fix the hot water dispenser. Sigh. My husband took down the mirror and threw it away. Sigh. I felt sorry for the fellow and so debated all day yesterday about whether or not to call the Mr. Handyman office to complain. My decision was clinched this morning when I opened my kitchen cabinet to get a coffee cup and the entire door fell off and hit me in the head. Yes, a full length, solid wood, kitchen cabinet door. Fortunately I was not injured, but I realized it was necessary to call the Mr. Handyman office to tell of all these problems before someone did get hurt. Can you imagine what might have happened if I’d asked him to install my ceiling fan in the bedroom?????? The customer service person in the office was appalled at my litany of complaints. She said she would discuss with the owner and get back to me and how to resolve the situation. When I contacted her this afternoon she said that the technician who came out said that the hot water dispenser was leaking before he started and the mirror was already broken. It is interesting that he asked me to vacumn up the broken glass after he finished installing the mirror. Proving that I am a complete and total doormat and fool. I’m not sure how he explained the cabinet door falling on my head, but probably that was my fault as well. The owner of the franchise offered me ONE FREE HOUR on service to fix the problems. The broken bathroom mirror was not addressed. Considering I wrote a check for $698 to pay for the services and the fellow was there for 7 hours...one free hour of service sounded pretty lame to me. I told the customer service person I was astonished and that I felt this was a very bad move on their part. What do you think? Am I being unfair to think that they should refund all my money, replace my mirror, have someone come out to check the other tasks and repair the hot water dispenser? I have stopped payment on the check until the issues are completely resolved. I have never stopped payment on a check for services in my 56 years prior to this situation.

This is a customer that has used us in the past and had much better experiences and outcomes. This job is not an example of a typical experience with Mr. Handyman and because of that we did reach out and come to an agreement with the customer. Also, the customer has mentioned giving us another try in the future. I believe the customer is more satisfied than the F review given and we hope they may change this grade. It is always our goal to satisfy every customer on every job and I believe we did the best we could to try and satisfy this customer in the end.
