Movers did a nice job. We’re on time and worked efficiently.

Moving Ahead was very professional and courteous, and explained exactly how it worked. I appreciated that I was not charged for travel time from the company and that the "hours" I was charged for began once they arrived. They did arrive ~1 hour late, which for moving companies is not too surprising - however, I was displeased I wasn't notified of this delay until just before they arrived. A phone call letting me know that there was going to be a delay would have been nice. As it was, I had to call them, but since I didn't have any specific number for the exact movers I had to call the office which, being a weekend, was a bit slower than I would have preferred. Once they arrived, however, I was greatly pleased by how everything went.

Movers were courteous, professional and efficient. Everything went as smoothly as possible. We had a couch that ultimately could not fit down stairs to be placed in the basement but the guys worked tirelessly to try to make it work and in the end, moved it to another space in the house. They were polite throughout.

The movers were respectful, polite, professional, courteous, and punctual. They arrived on time and were quick and careful. They engaged in conversation while constantly working and moving. They took the time to wrap objects that had movable parts and that were delicate/breakable. The items arrived to the correct location and undamaged. The 3 men took direction well on where the items needed to go whether upstairs, downstairs, or main floor. They completed the job 30 minutes earlier than expected. I would recommend this company to my friends and family. I will definitely look to using this company in the future if/when needed.

Seriously the best customer service. Everything was finished within the time I was estimated, not only that they were cautious with important items. I would recommend this service if you want a hassle free move at a great price.

This was the best moving experience I could hope to have. Everyone from my first contact to the packers and movers was helpful, friendly and courteous. They went out of their way to accommodate what we needed and kept in touch with us every step of the way. It was so much nicer than dealing with a huge company that hands you off to sub-contractors - the service was very personalized. We had great experiences with Taylor, Adam, Lindsey, and then movers Marlon, Lamar and Thomas. They were super-easy to get in touch with and always responsive- they have several people looking at the emails so someone always answers quickly. The pricing for the long-haul move was competitive, but the packing was far superior to others. I would highly recommend this company.

They arrived promptly. They were very pleasant and did a great job. The only issue was they broke one breakfast bowl. They need to be instructed to wrap all small items. Other than that they were efficient, easy to work with, and worked straight through from 9am through 3pm. The price was about $300 dollars under the quote!

This company did a wonderful job! The movers were polite and careful with my furniture, and they put everything right where I asked them to. Very polite. I received a phone call a few minutes after asking for a bid on the website.

Movers arrived on time & were nice guys. However, we asked them to use the 3 dozen moving blankets that we had provided to protect the furniture and they did not use a single blanket when loading/packing! Consequently, every single price of furniture loaded had significant scratches & damage. We had expected professional movers to use normal packing procedures when loading furniture. We were extremely disappointed and have found them to be unresponsive.

I would never recommend this company to anyone and am disappointed that Angie's List encourages customers to use this service by offering a coupon. I bought a coupon on here for 3 professional movers for 3 hrs. I called the company ahead of time to ask if any fees would be added on top of the coupon price and was told no, only if I use extra time. But it turns out there is a $55 travel fee added on top (which is exactly the kind of thing I was calling to ask about but was given incorrect information). The quality of service I received is comparable to me hiring 3 college kids off the street, only they would not have charged me $700. The young men who moved me were very hardworking and nice but it was very clear they have not been trained. The truck was packed horribly and my items were handled carelessly. There are dings and dents all over my furniture and my mattress is filthy from being dragged across the ground. They also broke 2 of my lamps, a shelf and made a cabinet fall apart. Also, one of the movers used the bathroom in my old apartment and was in there for a very long time. When he came out it was evident that he had flushed something other than bodily substance down my toilet because it was clogged and overflowed when I tried to flush it, which will come out of my security deposit. Before posting this review I contacted the company and was given the runaround for 2 weeks and was told someone from their "claims department" would be contacting me. When I finally received a response from them (after having to follow up again) it was from the same person I spoke to 2 weeks prior and NOT their "claims department" as I was previously told. They only offered me $139 back for all of the damage and inconvenience, which includes the $55 they were never supposed to have charged me. It is ridiculous that I paid $700 for half of my furniture to be permanently damaged and this is all that was offered to rectify the situation. I would not book them ever again. And Angie's List is risking their reputation by offering a coupon for their services and encouraging customers to use this company. If you check any other review platform, such as Yelp, the majority of this company's reviews are horrible and reflect similar experiences to mine. Not sure how Angie's List came up with an A rating. If you are looking for a reputable moving company I would suggest Big John Movers. I used them last time I moved and had a wonderful experience. They are much cheaper, more efficient and more professional than this company that I only used because Angie's List was offering a coupon.

Pre-move With excellent reviews on Angie’s List, I called what appeared to be a Cincinnati office of Moving Ahead Services moving company, and after speaking with them, agreed to book Sat June 3. At that time, we reviewed the layout of the apartment we were moving from: Two floor 3-bedroom apt with one car garage Many boxes from July 2016 move Garage filled with items to be moved Specialty items included upright piano, freezer, armoires The apt address, my email address and phone number. I made sure to spell our street and my email carefully. During the call, I also described the layout of the condo we were moving to: Two floor 3 bedroom condo with basement and two car garage. To benchmark our June 3 move, I described the 2016 move into our apt, including the number of men and trips taken. Based on this information, the company representative suggested and I agreed that two trucks would be best for our move. I understood their would be a mileage charge. Because Moving Ahead has a Cincinnati phone number, it appeared there is a Cincinnati office and would be sending Cincinnati drivers, and I was not told otherwise. I was told to expect the movers to arrive at 9:00am June 3. I heard nothing further from you, so I called and spoke with the Moving Ahead Services Cincinnati the week prior to confirm our move. They confirmed our move as per our original phone conversation. Move day travel and arrival The movers called at 9:20am to say they had one truck, three (not four) movers, and had just left Columbus. They expected to arrive in Cincinnati around 10:30am. At about 10:40am, I called the movers, who said they were on their way to northern Kentucky to a street with a similar name as ours. We gave them the corrected address and they turned back. They arrived two and a half hours late at 11:30am. They parked squarely in front of the driveways of two of our neighbors, and didn’t seem to understand that would cause a problem. They actually did this for two of their three trips. It took the driver multiple back and forth maneuvering to get the truck in front of our apt. This was not a problem for the company we used in 2016, nor other companies our neighbors have used. The lead mover presented us the company liability options, which were not discussed during either phone call. They showed us the paperwork they received that listed both our misspelled street and email addresses. Move They were instructed to wrap our white living room furniture to keep it clean, and not to carry out sofa or chair cushions unwrapped. One man started to carry a white upholstered chair out, and we saw he had created brown marks on it in the process. It will have to be professionally cleaned and hope the stains will come out. (see attached photo) They had enough wrap for only some of the upholstered furniture. We happened to have extra large garbage bags, and used them for some of the pillows and cushions. If we hadn’t provided these bags, our cushions would have been placed uncovered into the truck. Other upholstery did go into the truck without any protective covering. They did not have any wrap products for our mattresses or box springs, so they went into the dirty truck and came out dirty. In a post-move phone call with the company, they said mattress covers are an extra charge. We were never offered this option, which we would have taken. Conclusions We were told by phone to expect the final amount to be around $1800. Instead, it was $2500 + $250 insurance on damage. Also, while we understood their would be a mileage charge, the $300 mileage to/from Columbus instead of Cincinnati was a surprise. Two of the men worked very hard. It must have been a tremendously difficult day for them. However, they need coaching on professionalism. They left their trash lying around throughout the day which we had to pick up. They asked us what we did for a living, and commented on how much we owned. We observed one man’s preference for carrying a single small light-weigh items, and doing so slowly. He also stayed upstairs in the apt for a prolonged time after everything was emptied. I went up and he was coming out of a bedroom. One man spent a tremendous amount of time on his cell phone throughout the entire job. We provided Gatorade and bottled water. I don’t know what they’d have done without it. They seemed to not want to move large items to the basement, saying they wouldn’t fit. Based on previous owner’s furniture, we knew our furniture would fit. The apt driveway has a small patch of blacktop that remains gooey. We put white powder on it as a visual reminder, and asked them to avoid stepping in it. They repeatedly walked through it. (What a contrast to our cable installer, who wore bootie covers to keep our floor clean.) One man told us this his first ever move job. If it wasn’t bad enough that we were understaffed, we also had an inexperienced team. Moving Ahead misrepresented the presence of a Cincinnati office and moving team. At no time was I told it is a Columbus-only office and that drivers would coming from that area. As the evening grew late, we felt we had to step and move items ourselves. Even with our help, the job ended at 1:15.AM This is unacceptable. We are now going to have to hire another local company to move several large items, because the movers were exhausted and couldn’t be counted on to move items upstairs or to the basement. In summary: It was an unprofessional move from a very late 11:30AM start to ridiculously late 1:15AM finish. We feel Moving Ahead misrepresented their company, the service they would provide us, and the charges. Moving Ahead staff were not professional. I called Moving Ahead 6-5-2017 to lodge our complaints, was assured I would hear back from them, and as of 6-9-2017 we have not received their response.

Went as well as we could have hoped. The estimator was right on with the number of guys and the size and number of trucks needed for our job. The guys that actually did the moving were on time, professional, and courteous, and everything was moved without a scratch. I would never use or recommend another company again, as this was outstanding service.
