I reserved 3 movers for 6 hours with the option of extending to 8 hours - knowing we have a big family and lot of stuff to move. My confirmation email said 3 movers would arrive at 9am. Instead, 2 movers arrived at noon. There was no attempt to communicate with me as to the schedule change, and when I tried to call I just got voicemail. To be honest, I was a bit panicked because I was contracted to move out that day per my closing agreement. After many calls and emails I received an email at 10am saying the movers would arrive at 11 (they arrived at noon). A third mover arrived at 3pm. The movers worked hard, so no real complaints there. They worked efficiently, and did not damage either my items or the walls of either house. Because the third mover did not arrive until late we ran out of time and had to stack boxes in the garage instead of delivering them to the proper location in the house. I spent the next day moving all that stuff myself. Also, because of the late arrival we finished at 8pm instead of 5pm so I had to pay extra to return my truck late. In the email I received at 10am there was an apology for the guys not being there at 9am, but nothing further even when they were an hour late on their second ETA and missing a person. It was pretty obvious that this did not go as planned, and there was no further word from the owner who does the scheduling. In sum, they did not deliver what they promised, and really just kind of left it at that.

At first I thought all was good in regard to this service in relation to the price. I did not find the problems until unloading the trailers in Los Angeles. Issues related to Move Cheap services are noted below: 1 - Many pieces of furniture were badly damaged due to improper loading and misuse of packing blankets and shrink wrap that I had provided. Very few items were not damaged resulting in thousands of dollars in loss. 2 - One item that was to be loaded by Move Cheap in Cincinnati never made it on the trailer. My son's PS-3 game console with 4 controllers. 3 - The company has been unresponsive since I placed a claim with their insurance. No emails or phone calls have been returned in over 5 weeks. I would stay as far away from this provider as possible. I have learned that the term "Cheap" doesn't relate to value.
Description of Work: Move Cheap provided labor to load two ABF U-Pack trailers for my move from Cincinnati to Los Angeles. All seemed to be going well as the crew was courteous and well mannered. During a break the loaders were taking, I smelled marijuana coming from the side of my house. One of the Move Cheap loaders was using the break time to get high. I didn't report this to Move Cheap at the time as I felt the crew were dedicated and working hard to complete the task.

I picked up a 26' truck on Monday at 5 just before closing. I used it that evening to make a trip with my brother to move all the light boxes from my house from Norwood to Loveland. On Tuesday morning, two movers arrived at 9 to move all the furniture and any heavy items. They were efficient. They moved and packed the 4 bedroom house in about 2.5 hours. They broke for lunch afterwards and I drove the truck to my new house. It took about 1.5 hours for the team to unload the truck. I helped with some items in order to speed up some because they charge by the hour. They were OK with this and were very agreeable. The truck I rented from U-haul was a very old model and took a while to get accustomed. I would suggest maybe getting a newer truck from Penske or Ryder. However, the cost of this truck was very affordable and they provided me the ability to return it before the next morning and still only get charged 1 day rental. It was a very good experience overall and great customer service. The only negative was the age of the truck and its condition, however, it didnt have any issues and worked OK. Also of note, they insured that they wouldn't break any of the furniture. When job was complete nothing got broke and they didn't cause any damage in either of the houses. Note that their insurance does not include IKEA or Sauder type furniture, glass tops, or electronics.
Description of Work: 2 Movers for 4 hours and rental of a 26' Truck. $214 for the movers and $184 for the truck + fuel (10 Gallons).

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I don't even know where to begin. They showed up an hour late to load the truck....reeking of marijuana. Then at some point one of the 3 gentlemen stole my engagement ring. I had laid my wedding and engagement ring in the master bathroom during the move because they shouldn't be in that room - nothing to move in there and door was slightly ajar. Near the end of moving i went into my bathroom to start getting ready to leave after they leave when I noticed my engagement ring was missing...band was left and I hadn't been in the bathroom all day so I knew I hadn't touched them and asked them to return it and I wouldn't call the police. They continued to deny ever entering the master bathroom. Contacted company to speak to supervisor and he has yet to return my calls after 3 attempts! When the police arrived I was informed one of the gentleman had a warrant out for his arrest (so much for all employees have had a good criminal background checks)!

There was a small mileage fee but nothing close to the other agencies I contacted. Their prices were posted up front on their website and there were no hidden costs. I would use them again.

Move Cheap set me up with two guys in their earlier 20s. Both were extremely polite. They called an hour before they arrived to confirm the service. De'Adrain, the leader of the two, was extremely knowledgeable of Move Cheap's policies and procedures as he went over step-by-step the paperwork before anything was moved. Both guys were open-minded to our suggestions on how my wife and I thought the tank should be moved. Between the four of us, we all agreed on how to move this 6ft 325lbs aquarium. The actual move was flawless and quick. Both guys were very careful throughout the whole move. I could tell they cared about doing it right without any mistakes. Both guys addressed me with alot of "thank you" and "yes sir"....which went a long way in making me feel confident and happy I used this company.

You have to rent and drive the truck, but they supply the labor. They were very careful and moved things efficiently. They're priced very competitively. I've had very good experiences with them. I had someone who didn't perform as well as someone else. I took it back to their management. They reimbursed us for that time and was very responsive to what my concerns were.

I called them to get an estimate and when I asked for their license and insurance information they changed the subject. Then they said they were just a labor service so they didn't have to have a license but they did have insurance. After submitting my report they replied they have never talked to me but how could they know? They didn't ask my name when I called. The state of Ohio has a website for movers and they have to be licensed. If you don't believe me look it up and you will see this company is not being honest. The only thing they have right is I didn't use their service because I would never hire someone that is decietful. Also if you look them up you will see they have been investigated by the Boone County Sheriff. I don't understand how Angie's List lets them advertise on here. In their profile it says and quot;Yes, I am appropriately licensed for my tradeand quot; but they aren't. I thought Angie's List was supposed to protect us from illegal companies like this?

This is an individual we have never spoke to on the phone or in person. Their review of our company is inaccurate and they have never used our services. We are a moving labor company and not a full service mover, and are licensed and insured appropriately for our business model.

When hired this company in Oct 2010, we they moved our furniture to the basement and ripped the walls and our couch and put several holes in the wall...along with scrapping the walls about 10 feet long. The employees(Shane) admitted the damages, documented them and said the owner, Tim would contact us. Several weeks went by and we never received the phone call, so we contacted Move Cheap.Jake told us Tim's mother had passed away and it would be a few months, but Tim would contact us. Then in May 2011, our house was struck by a storm and we had to move out of the house right away, so we called Tim at Move Cheap. we told him what happened in Oct 2010..He said he didnt know anything about it, but would pull the forms that his employees documented their damages and contact us. We had them move us, because we needed to move fast and they were inexpensive..which we really needed at the time. Then when they moved us back into our home they damaged 3 brand new pcs of furniture, Breaking a cherry bar from Potterybarn into.We witness one of his employees slaming 1 of our nightstands into the doorway. They were nice, but exhausted...They moved out of a 3 story house the day before and did not have enough help. They were soooo tired, but we had to get moved out of our rental home that day. They had already over booked for Monday when they were suppose to move us, so we had to pay extra rental days as it was. Then Shane again promised Tim would call us right away about their damages again,...remembering what they damaged in Oct and even seeing that the wall had still not been repaired..We had some illness in our family during this time, so we had understood about Tims mother and told Shane that. Shane said that he had told Tim and he has the paperwork, he looks the paperwork over every night. Well Tim never called again! So we had to hunt him down...When we told him about the damages, he first said he didnt know anything about it, then he had been busy, then said, and quot;oh yeah, I remember hearing something about it'. then said it was weird about the damages..never sorry, let me help...So I reminded him about the earlier damages, and he welland quot;I can fix the walls if you provide the paintand quot;. He has never followed up with our claim, never provided a claim number, inventory list, paperwork, or fixed our walls. Very unprofessional...Talks professional to you, until you have a problem.. terrible customer service...Seems like a bunch of kids are running the business.

The main issues were:- The Manager/Owner, gave me an over the phone estimate, which is crazy. It enabled him to GROSSLY underestimate the cost in order to secure the business. I should have known better, but it is his business, I move only once a decade. This phone estimate enabled him to NOT take responsibility for the move. - With Move Cheap, you rent your own truck. This created problems with me needing another truck and then another trailer during the move. In mid move I had to go rent a 2nd truck which the guy said would be plenty big enough and wasn't, so they left and I had to finish my move with no help the next day into a U-Haul Trailer.- Manager/Owner called 1x to discuss me needing another mover to empty the trucks, I missed the call and therefore only 2 guys showed up, meaning I had to unload with them the entire 6 hours. - I was kind of disorganized, so the loading took longer than it could have, but the time of the load isn't my issue.- A couple of items were damaged. I was told that I would get an Insurance Claim form in the mail, which I have not received in the 2 weeks since the move. If you use this company, insist on a site visit and expect that your move may go very badly from a financial and emotional standpoint.
Description of Work: I was moving from Northern Kentucky to Cincinnati, about 25 miles. Manager/Owner, Tim, was very nice and confident over the phone. I was a bit concerned with "Move Cheap" but he said things like, "we're professionals, this is what we do..." Unfortunately, the entire move was a fiasco. The actual movers were nice and hard working, but couldn't overcome the extreme problems. The only reason why this is a D and not an F is because of respect for the hard workers.

Response from Move Cheap LLC Cincinnati Movers
The members were fantastic customers to work for, but unfortunately, their move didn't go as they expected because they simply weren't ready. Their move was split over two different days. Loading on one day, and unloading on another. On the day of the load, we discovered that the member's had many items that weren't packed or described to us in our initial conversation. When they hired us, we explained that we are a moving labor company only. We don't supply trucks, only the movers to load and/or unload the trucks for you. Based on a 26 foot truck they were renting, we explained that we can typically load it in 3 to 4 hours. It turned out that the member needed not only a 26 foot truck, but a 17 foot truck and a trailer because they had many possessions that were either unpacked or were loose items. We are not a full service company, and we didn't pack their possessions, therefore we can only base a estimate on what they tell us they have and the size truck they're renting. On the first day of the move, after we had loaded, it was recommended to them that they add a 3rd man to their unloading service based on the sheer amount of items they had. When we called several times to confirm this, we were unable to reach them. When the unloaders arrived to begin their job on the 2nd day, the member called to inquire and complain that a 3rd man hadn't been provided. We explained that since he hadn't returned our calls, it would be too late to add another. He then continued to call nearly every half hour for the next four hours to tell us that he didn't think the movers would be able to complete the unload in the time allotted before they had to leave to go to their next moving job. They WERE able and DID complete the unload process in the time allotted for them to do so. We even allowed for an extra hour just in case they hadn't been. It was at this point that things began to turn sour. The member had explained that he wasn't happy with our business model. I again explained that we are NOT a full service company, and that we can only give an estimate based on what size truck a customer is providing and the items they list. He believes an in home estimated should have been provided, and we would have done so if requested, but typically it is not necessary. There were also a few items that they wanted to have put back together like a patio set, washer & dryer, and sofa bed, so I volunteered to do that for the members as a good will gesture. The member was not available to be their when I arrived, but his wife was, and unfortunately she treated me very horribly. She was mean, cruel, and tried to talk to me like I wasn't an intelligent human being. I understand she was upset, but coming from a retail background at Pottery Barn, as she explained to me she was, I wouldn't be belittling or cussing someone who is only trying to help. At that point I refrained from talking to her and only talked to her maid who was extremely nice. There were a few small damages. A small table and chair had been scuffed. There was also the sofa bed that the customer asked us to disassemble, because that's how "he moved it the last time". Even after the bed section had been removed it wouldn't fit through their basement door, so the member instructed us to force it through. This is when, we believe, the damage occurred, and when putting the bed back together, it wouldn't close properly. We did email them our insurance forms as promised, and have not heard back from them since that day. If they hadn't received the forms, they have never called or emailed us to let us know. It is important for customers to understand that we are a moving labor service. If you haven't packed your items completely, or have many loose items that you are simply unable to get to, you can expect your move to take longer. This is true of ANY moving company. We have completed over 5500 moves throughout Cincinnati since 2005, and have stood by our business model in the interest of saving our customer money and making the moving process affordable for everyone. We wish the best to the members, appreciate their business, and hope that their next move is a smoother experience for both parties.

Move cheap packed our 2 bedroom apartment into a U-haul and then into our new house. They were about an hour late but did a good job overall. They worked pretty fast and didn't break anything. Pretty reasonably priced for 4 hours of labor for two people - it was also nice that they brought plenty of straps and moving blankets and strapped everything in tight! I would use them again.
