I upgraded my PC to windows 10 from Windows 7 64bit operating software (OS) in early August, this caused my audio to stop working due to a software issue with Realtek Audio that is used in the Dell M435T model PC. Normally I'm able to make repairs myself having a back ground in electronics, but being out of the industry and expecting a professional would have more insight and resources to trouble shoot this problem, I took my PC to Microcenter on 8-17-15, I was informed that it wouldn't be worked on until 8-25-15 (which I understood and accepted) I had downloaded windows 10 on my Dell M435T 1st gen i7cpu, 10GB of Ram, with two Hard Drives one a 2TB one a 750GB, also it had a 2GB AMD gaming video card installed which supported (3) 27" monitors. My audio stopped working after downloading my upgrade windows 10 from Microsoft, I explain to the tech I had reloaded the updated driver for my Realtek audio (attached to mother board) I assumed the tech would have more resources than me to correct the problem, also I wanted to install a 500GB SSD to improve my data transfer speed which kept my Windows Experience Index at 5.9 rating (shows how well your PC works "bench marks"). The service person stated I would get a call from the tech, when he/she started on 8-25-15 I never received a call so on or about 8-26 or 8-27 I contacted Microcenter on through their online repair status inquiry. I then received a call informing me he would start on it tomorrow... ok some time pasted no call so again using your online repair status inquiry, I emailed the tech no reply the next day I then emailed the supervisor and the tech called claimed he's working on it but no progressed... for about a week the tech then would call me every night telling me that he was working it, this went on until at some point he informed me that the Dell M435T is incompatible with windows 10. At this point I informed the tech to just roll back to windows 7 OS and get my audio working again and place the OS on the SSD. He called me back either the next day or day after to inform me there were problems he had to reload windows 7... I ok?d it just wanting to get my PC back. The tech may have called me once or twice but after 9-9-15 I don't recall receiving any contact from Microcenter as to the status... so on 9-13-15 I went on line to check the repair status and it showed system ready for pick up. I arrived at the store 9-14-15 in the morning the tech came out and told me he had everything ready to go but he couldn?t see any data on the 2TB hard he tried everything even using his own Linux OS which according to him should show if it had any data? giving me the impression the data was corrupt so I ok?d him to format (easing everything cleaning the hard drive) the drive losing all my data. I then waited about 30 minutes (PC wasn't ready for pickup) took my PC home to hook up. I connected my PC? my it only showed 3GB of ram usable out of 10GB loaded, my video card now only showed VGA connection with no options for more than one monitor! I called the store and spoke with service department and she said just bring it back she will talk to the tech, I returned the PC that same evening on 9-14-15 the service person said she had spoken with the tech and he told her he failed to load some needed drivers so he would get it fixed right away and I didn?t need a new repair order. Again I waited with no contact from Microcenter on or about 9-21-15 tried to use the online status but my repair number would not work, so I connected Microcenter information through the chat line, he advised me to call the store and demanded to speak with the manager, they connected me to the service supervisor Lindsey Bryant she stated the supervisor in the repair department was off work and she would contact him and have him call me before 6:00 on 9-22-15. Again no call by 6:00 pm... at 8:00pm I received a call from the tech (not the supervisor) he stated he had all the drivers loaded, made sure it would support more than one monitor, the reason I only had used of 3GB of Ram he loaded windows 7 32bit instead of 64bit... so he would load 64 bit windows and call me when it's ready. This may be why he couldn?t find the data on my hard drive that we ended up formatting, losing all my data (pictures, videos, movies and music) NO ONE CALLED! On 9-24-15 I went to Micro Center with my paper work... the reason I was given about not calling this this time was they didn't have my contact information!!! The service person then gave me my paper work and the paper he gave me had all my contact information. I am not happy with this at all? all my data is gone because a 32bit OS was loaded on system and this took over a month! After getting home and connecting PC, once again the Windows Experience Index was now showing only 1.0 he still had not loaded the driver for the video card, so I had to open up the PC pulled the video card got the serial number went on line and downloaded the AMD driver which improved my Index up to 7.2. The absolute worst service I have seen, I shop the store but refuse to use their repair service, I informed microcenter about the service through their online survey but no one has ever contacted me... At least they're consistent...
Description of Work: Repair audio after windows 10 upgrade PC, install SSD and move OS to SSD.

In January I bought a new Dell Laptop from Micro Center. The salesman was somewhat impatient and in a rush and reminded me of a used car salesman. He even talked me into buying a $70 carry-in service plan so if there were problems it could be worked on there at the store without cost instead of sending it off to Dell. The computer I bought was on sale and wasn't the most expensive they had but it wasn't the cheapest either, just mid-range in price. It is the worst computer I've ever used as far as design and speed and came loaded with really poor quality programs. There was no hardcopy of the user manual and the on-line version is so degraded it won't run. Micro Centers response to my complaints was that I needed to take it up with Dell. Obviously they don't stand behind their merchandise. A couple of months ago I started to get a weird message when I booted up. When I took it in today for service I was told it would be at least a week before they could even look at it and if it needed any parts it would take longer as they would have to order them. They estimated I might get it back in 10 to 11 days. I'm going out of town in a week on a job and need that computer for work. I could not afford to leave it with them. Shipping it off to Dell would be just as fast so the extended service I bought was a waste of money. When I asked to talk to a manager he was smug and unhelpful. When I asked for an e-mail address or phone number for someone higher up the manager happily told me anyone I contacted would just send the complaint back to him. I'll never buy anything from this company again. They sell poor quality merchandise and the service is unbelievably bad. Don't waste your money here. Go to Best Buy or ANYWHERE else!
Description of Work: I bought a computer from Micro Center in January. Today I tried to take it in for repairs and they said it would be a week before they could even look at it. Manager was smug and unresponsive when I complained. Horrible place overall.

I will never use MicroCenter again or purchase anything from the retail store. I received the initial diagnosis call after 3 days, which was within reason. The technician stated the motherboard would need to be replaced and possibly the hard drive and additional hardware. Unfortunately, he could not determine the extent of the damage until after the motherboard was replaced. He was to contact Dell for replacement parts and would let me know the status and estimate of repair expense once he spoke to Dell. After 2 weeks of no response, I contact MicroCenter for a follow up. I was told the technician was trying to contact Dell, but had not been able to speak to them yet. Furthermore, the technician was not working that day so this representative could not speak to him about the status. The representative was to leave a message for the technician to contact me with the update. After waiting 2 more weeks, I called MicroCenter again and spoke to the supervisor. He apologized and said the technician would follow up with me when he came to work the next day. I never heard from the technician and decided to pick up the laptop after 3 days of waiting. At pickup the technician stated that the file contained notes from the technician that he spoke with Dell and the best he could offer was to send the laptop to Dell for repair. Dell would charge $560 for the repair work and MicroCenter would charge an additional $175 for shipping/handling and additional diagnostic work. Microcenter would then determine what additional repairs were required once the motherboard was replaced. That was completely unacceptable after weeks of waiting and I decided to take the laptop elsewhere. I was told that the laptop was not ready for pickup because the technician had disassembled the computer. After arguments, they told me to come back in an hour and they would have the laptop ready for pickup. I ultimately contacted Dell directly and sent the laptop to them for service. The charge was $560, which included all repair work and all shipping/handling (to and from Dell). Dell replaced the motherboard and the laptop was returned to me in perfect working order within 2 weeks of originally contacting Dell.
Description of Work: I took my laptop to MicroCenter for repair after spilling a drink (liquid) on the computer. MicroCenter charged $79 analysis fee to determine extent of damage. I received a return call fairly quickly (within 3 days) stating the technician determined the motherboard would need to be replaced and possibly the harddrive and additional hardware. They would not know the extent until after the motherboard was replaced.

System build was fudged and otherwise poorly executed. Bad cable management with the case and usb ports not connected on front header of case. I had specified a 0 Raid Array on the ssd's for system and wanted to use the regular Tb drive for docs and data. Recently took my system into a local shop for diagnostics and found out that the ssds were never properly initialized and were not even being used. Micro Center's a great place to buy hardware but don't trust their builds or repairs.
Description of Work: Bought MOB, 2 SSD's, 1 Tb HD, CPU, GPU, Audio Card and RAM for overhaul of system. Kept case and PSU. System build performed.
