+ 1 moreHe is a really busy guy. We need more of him. A guy who is as good as he is winds up commanding an awful lot of attention after a while with word of mouth and everything. He is not a well-kept secret anymore; that's the only thing that I have to complain about him. We are always A-level satisfied with Matt. If he were available, he would be our first choice to do any number of different things around here.
Description of Work: We used Matt Van Skaik Custom Carpentry for carpentry work. Matt did a handful of things, one of which was to install a bunch of Pergo flooring for us.

+ 1 moreThey were great and arrived when they said they would. They were very clean. The work was excellent. Two men came and were here for 2 1/2-3 days. The work turned out beautiful. I didn't feel that he took adequate time to answer my questions on a couple of occasions.
Description of Work: I used Matt Van Skaik to do some cabinet installation work in my kitchen.

+ 1 moreThey had given us great estimates. They have done a good job so far, and we still have some pending work. They do excellent work and show up on time. If the carpenter is really busy he?d tell us that he doesn't have time.

+ 8 moreAll projects have gone extremely well, such that we don't think of anyone else when our home needs work. On the most recent work, relating to decking and our screen porch door, Matt personally inspected the purported work area, gave us a detailed estimate, came at the appointed time, and completed the work exactly as he had projected.
Description of Work: This is not the first time we have used Matt VanSkaik, carpenter and home improvement specialist extraordinaire. On this job, some rebuttressing of a good portion of our rear decking was needed due to deteriorated wood. We also have a screened porch that needed a new door. Matt did his usual excellent work there. On previous occasions he has installed Pergo flooring with ancillary underlayment and quarter round in our kitchen and living area, and performed drywall, door, and ceiling repair, and some electrical work.

+ -1 moreMatt performed all work himself and did an absolutely impeccable job. His attention to detail is 2nd to none and also how many fantastic suggestions on the new bathroom. We would most certainly would use him again (in fact he is coming back to replace our foyer floor). He is extremely dependable. Matt came everyday for 2 weeks until finished. Half of our cost was the materials we picked out. His price is very fair as we received 3 estimates and Matt was right in the ballpark with all of them.
Description of Work: We had a bathroom completely gutted and remodeled from the ground up. All walls were taken down to their studs (including the ceiling), vanity removed and floor tile removed. We had a wall removed and wiring was rerouted. We put a new shower in and put 2 shower heads so additional plumbing was performed. We put slate on the floor and ceramic tile in the shower. We put in a new vanity with granite counter and a new toilet as well.

+ -1 moreMatt is an excellent carpenter and did a great job. The trim was finished grade cherry, and didn't leave much room for error. He made the work look easy, and the result is beautiful. I'm really pleased with how the kitchen trim looks.
Description of Work: We installed new kitchen cabinets ourselves, but hired Matt to install the multi-layered molding. He also re-did some of the baseboard trim, and installed molding around the kitchen door.
