Knochelmann Service Experts

The service went very well. The technician checked all of the vents and made sure his measurements were accurate. He did a thorough job and was very knowledgeable. He seemed to be experience in his field and completed the job in about 1 hour. I had no problem scheduling the estimate.

It went fine, the technician knew his job well and was very informative and instrumental in helping me pick the best water heater for my home. I even received a discount on my purchase. The supervisor made a personal visit to my home to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and that every thing was done properly. I am very satisfied with my purchase and I would definitely recommend them. My price included a yearly maintenance check for both my water heater and my furnace.

Our appointment time was between 2-4 pm. They office called a few minutes before 4:00 to say that they were on their way. The service technicians arrived at 4:30. They did the routine check and found no problems with the air conditioner.

I had a dripping faucet in my bathroom tub. I received a coupon in the mail from Knochelmann Service Experts for $55 off a plumbing service call (normally $84). After the technician arrived he gave me an estimate of $200 for the repair. When I said I wasn't prepared to pay that much he brought it down to $100. I was not expecting to negotiate so much just to fix the faucet. It was hard to tell if I was getting a straight answer about the cost. Then the technician said the $55 discount for the service call would only apply if he did the repair work, otherwise it would cost the normal $84. This seemed like a pressure sales tactic. There was nothing on the coupon that stated this and when I called Service Experts later they also said this was not the case. The technician ended up replacing the washers in the tub for hot and cold water for $100 plus the discounted $29 service call. The house is older and the technician was able to remove a difficult old washer from the cold water stem. The tub is no longer dripping.

They maintained the quality of service. They've always been topnotch in quality service and dependability. We've been using them for like 21 years.

We have used Knochelman for years and been very happy until they were sold to Service Experts. The most recent time we called, we needed a toilet mounting bolt replaced. They arrived promptly as usual and the repairman was friendly, but their "new pricing" was based on flat pricing for various tasks, so we were charged $300 for the repairman to replace the toilet bolt, which took him less than an hour from start to finish. Although I was unhappy after seeing how simple this $300 repair was, I had agreed to the cost in advance and would have been fine with it if the repair had been done correctly. Shortly after this repair, we started noticing a distinct smell of sewer gases from this bathroom. Thinking it couldn't be the toilet since that had just been repaired, we alternated between hoping it would just go away, and thinking it was the sink drain causing the problem. We have cleaned the sink drain with bleach, disassembled the P-trap, cleaned the overflow drain, cleaned the nearby drains in the laundry room and basement, and generally driven ourselves crazy for nearly 2 years now trying to figure out where the smell was coming from. We had a plumber here recently for another project and asked him about this, and he mentioned the wax ring might be leaking under the toilet. Still thinking this couldn't be since it had recently been reset, we thought about caulking the base of the toilet to see if this solved the smell, but before we did this, we noticed sewage seeping out around the base of the toilet. This morning I called Knochelmann to ask them to send someone out to repair it. Their response was that since it has been nearly 2 years, they would charge us again ($300 again, I expect) to repair it. I explained that it has been an issue ever since their last repair, and I would expect based on their "100% satisfaction guarantee" that they would reset the toilet - which should take no more than 30 minutes - at no cost. They said a manager would have to speak with me but wasn't yet in the office (this was at 8:30 AM). A manager was supposed to call back but has not, and I have called 2 more times trying to reach a manager but there has not been any manager available. This is a very disappointing outcome and not the kind of customer service we enjoyed at Knochelmann before they were sold to Service Experts. It is frustrating that in spite of the substantial price increases, the level of service seems to have declined significantly. I cannot recommend them and do not plan to use them again.

I have an annual contract with Knockelmann for maintenance of my heating and air conditioning system. They come twice a year to inspect and maintain the equipment they installed a few years ago (maybe 4 years?). They offer plenty of scheduling choices, call to tell me when they're on the way and are always prompt. Also always professional, friendly and informative. Well worth $189/yr. to know that someone besides me is paying attention to preventive maintenance.

They were very nice, but after reviewing the unit, they told my wife we needed repair to cost about $600 to $700 or we needed a new A/C unit. Luckily, my wife called me and asked what to do. I talked to the technician and after getting her back on the line, told her due to the cost and options given, we needed to get a second opinion. The technician appeared to then get upset. Telling my wife that we won't get a better price, I'm a professional and there are a lot of "hacks" out there that may be cheaper, etc. I got back on the line with the technician and said thanks but I'd like another opinion due to the cost and was not doing this to hurt anyone's pride. He left and we called a relative who knew another A/C co. We called them and within a day, they were there and looked over everything. They told me I had a tiny leak and all I needed to do for now was to add some freon. They said the leak was tiny and it would take at least 8 months + for the freon to leak out! If we wanted to look at getting a new unit or to take care of the leak, see how the charge lasted then decide after the summer. Total charge with service... @$25!!! My concern with the technician from "service experts" was that they tried to take advantage of my wife and got mad when we asked for a second opinion. What professional would question that? The experience was awful, especially when they tried to charge me $85 for the service call, which I refused to pay given the game they were playing. I was on my way to the BBB, CPA or the newspaper to expose their nonsense. Interestingly, they told me they would not charge me and left it at that.

Called Knochelmann's at 8am after making it through a very cold night when the furnace decided to stop working. They scheduled a service repairman to come between 10am-12pm. By 9:45am, I had received a call from the technician letting me know he would be there in 30 minutes. He arrived promptly, quickly diagnosed the problem and had everything fixed in 1 hour. Service technician was very friendly, helped explain everything he was doing and why he was doing it. Made me feel very comfortable with the work and the need for the work.

It was great. The workers were very professional, friendly, and knowledgable.

Technician was on time, neatly dressed and badged. Explained everything as he went along. Have used them before and will continue to use them when necessary. Very professional.

Excellent!! James was patient and answered all our questions. They made sure everything was just the way we wanted it and even cleaned up.

It was fine. They were great. They were very clean. They did what they said they were going to do. They were responsible for their work. When they cut one of the ducts, they accidentally messed up one of the plaster walls, I didn't have to say anything, they sent somebody out to fix the plaster and repaint the whole wall.

The price was reasonable. I like they didn't pressure us in buying a whole new system. I would use them again.

Team was on time. Called to tell me they were near. Hauled old equipment away and cleaned up what little mess they made. Great Job!!

Everything went extremely well. The gentlemen who did the work took his time and did an excellent job!

I scheduled an appointment with them, they give you a 2-4 hour window. The day of the appointment, they called and told me the technician could come early. I was visiting with my Dad who was very sick. I left my Dad and went home, approximately 2:45. No one showed up. After waiting an hour I called them to see where the technician was. The call was taken at a call center. They said the the technician would call me when he was on his way. So, I waited a couple more hours. Called back again, this time the call center said they didn't see where I had an appointment scheduled. Then they realized that they were looking at the wrong company. Apparently, the call center works for multiple companies. Bottom line, the technicians showed up outside the orginal scheduled time. They did not call, they just showed up after 7PM. I asked them why they didn't come early, they told me they had another appointment and never said they would come early.

Overall, it went terribly. Incorrect installation of the gas line to the furnace resulting in leaks, and incorrect installation of the AC resulting in a system shut down and additional cost for repair makes for an unprofessional and negative experience. In summary: 1. HVAC system installed at a cost of approx $9000 2. Approx 20 months later a system checkup - no problems found 3. Approx 2 months later AC dead due to incorrect installation of evaporator coil. Cost to us = approx. $600 4. Approx 18 months later water heater shuts down due to the presence of combustible gas... Seven (7) gas leaks found in gas line leading to HVAC system installed by this company when original installation performed.

Other than saying that I was satisfied, they came and took care of everything. They pointed out some things I might want to look to do in the future, but everything was okay. They were good. They did say when they will come, and that was when they were here.

As our own noses and ears could tell us, the motor to our 13 yr old furnance burned out on a very cold morning. We've had a service contract with them (Knochelman, before Service Experts) for several yrs. A service tech arrived within a couple of hours to confirm what we suspected. We decided to replace the furnace and AC at the same time, as it was also 13 yrs old, and there was a little bit of a break in pricing to do so. John (sales rep) came that afternoon to spec/quote a new system. Jim and Mike installed it...all of the next day. John followed up a week later to make sure we were happy with their system and their work. We are happy with their work and new system so far. Everyone we dealt with was prompt, courteous, and professional--at the upmost. They cleaned up after themselves and wore "booties" so they wouldn't track mud in from the outside. I very much appreciated their quick responsiveness. Several other reviewer's have commented that they found Service Experts a bit pricey; that may be true, but we weren't looking for the cheapest replacement, but wanted to upgrade our system. They (sales and installers) spent a lot of time explaining exactly what they were doing and why. Follow-up was great. I plan to continue using them and would reccomend to others.

My furnace blower was going out and I decided to replace it Got quotes from 3 different providers, from a pure cost perspective Service Experts is pricier. I decided to go with them because of my friends positive experience. The install was done over two days as they did not have enough crew but was not an issue. After the install was done I noticed that the A/C unit model was different than the one I thought I was getting, I checked my contract and the model installed was a per contract but not the one I wanted. I discussed with my sales person and the management and they rectified the mistake without any fuss. I was really impressed with how professionally they handled and resolved the situation. After the install I had to call them to check on the heating and they came promptly but discovered that the plumbing work done was not done correctly and I had water in the furnace room. The gentleman who came told me he will clean up the floor and fix the problem.

They were very prompt and thorough. The System didn't work as expected, but they came out and fixed the problem promptly. Highly recommend Service Experts.

For the water heater, Knochelmann taped up the exhaust when it should have been cemented to vent to the outside. We had a lemon guarantee with the furnace. The exhaust system of the water heater came undone and caused a carbon monoxide leak. After venting the house, etc, we took photos of the exhaust system that had come undone and contacted Knochelmann about it and got no response or apology of any kind. Another company had to fix the exhaust. We started using this other company to service our furnace. Then in 2012, the heat exchanger on the furnace cracked. Knochelmann refused to acknowledge the furnace warranty because we had used a different company for the servicing. We told them why we switched companies for servicing and still got no acknowledgment or apology for the carbon monoxide leak in the water heater. We spent over $1000 to replace a heat exchanger that should have lasted several decades.

The company replaced our outside air conditioning unit and coil in the air handler March 2011 at a cost of $7000. I believed at the time and still do that the cost was too high. We needed to have some excavation work done a couple of weeks ago and the outside unit had to be temporarilty disconnected and moved and then reconnected when the digging was finished. We received a quote of $812 to disconnect and reconnect the unit. I felt we had no alternative to use them since the unit still has three years left on the warranty. The warranty would have been null and void if we hired anyone else. One technician came out and disconnected the unit; took 15 min. He said there was no loss of coolent. It took 2 technicians about an hour to reconnect the unit. They still charged us $812. An hour and 15 min labor; no materials. They have always been responsive and quick to come out and the quality of the work is fine but I will never use them again after this warranty is done. It was much better when it was local and was H S Stevenson's. They are just too expensive and I don't like how they've turned their technicians into sales staff.

The service has gone great. I am extremely happy with them and they continue to do great work. They are a little pricey, but I like the service.
