Jim Carver & Sons

We were looking to replace our shower stall with something nice but nothing elaborate. After sending pictures and exchanging a few emails, they gave me an insanely high price of $10k. Obviously they are not interested in small jobs like this, but it sure would have been nice if they'd told me that upfront or if they referred me to someone who did smaller jobs.

One of the designers from the company came to our home, took measurements, and drew up plans for the remodel. We gave her our budget and time schedule, but the time schedule and the budget she presented to us weren't what we had asked. We met with her several times, and she was very considerate, but it was clear that she wasn't understanding our needs and wants. It was also difficult to contact her, as she was either not in the showroom or she was busy with other customers. It was also clear that Jim Carver and Sons was too busy to take a "personal" interest in our business, so we went with another contractor that was much more willing to take the time to work with us.

We had an Angie's coupon and we were very pleased with the young man who came out and did that, two jobs on drywall, and it really just came out very nicely. We were very pleased. The two man who did most of the actual construction work were very friendly, very good, very professional, and it's unfortunate at this time I don't remember their company name, but they are actually a sub contract of and have done other work through Jim Carver. And unfortunately the man who worked at Jim Carver, we talked to him about buying stuff and everything, and he came several times to inspect the job and what's going on, but unfortunately Kennedy has left. But Jim Carver did everything, they were the contractor, and they did a nice job. Unlike the kitchen job, we did not look at alternatives, we just went straight to Carver with them. We were not surprised with the price because it cost around $20,000 on the kitchen, a year or two before that. So no comment on price. Carver and Sons have a small showroom and went through, but you know when we did not seem enthusiastic about something in what they were showing us and so forth, they said, yes, you can go over and look at other places and so forth and buy them and we will take that off the price that we were charged things right out of the store. So, from that standpoint they are also very good. There was also, we took out a shower that was enclosed on three sides, and one of those walls that we took out going into the shower and we took both those walls out and now put in a 1/4 shower and we were having difficulties. Carver and Sons had never done it, and so they were rather puzzled. They didn't know or have anything on how to do it and checked several other different places and by the time they came back they said -Yea we found somebody who could do it. There is a company in Cincinnati, I don't know the company's name, but they had developed a quick shower install thing made out of Polystyrene foam, and they guys who were installing it and put it in were saying it was much quicker and everything. And course, I was a chemical engineer, but then I also remember seeing something on television were very think, very large pieces of Polystyrene were being used as the base for roads, believe it or not. So anyhow we have had this a good year, two years now, still very pleased about it, haven't noticed anything on the floor moving or anything like that, and so we are very pleased with it.

From start to finish, an excellent experience. Everything was thoroughly explained in a way we could understand. Steve was very patient in explaining all of our options and providing well-placed advice. We were extremely happy with the products they installed and received many favorable comments from neighbors. We knew we would use them again and have hired them to install 4 doors, including a sliding door for the patio.

I was very tempted, but $30000 was way out of my budget. Their office/showroom is very well setup with samples of materials with demo bathrooms and kitchens. I wish I could have made it work out!

Our new kitchen was done by Jim Carver and Sons whom we found on Angie?s List. They did a fantastic job and were a pleasure to work with. Dave Carver (one of the owners) was our designer. I gave him a wish list and he designed the kitchen from there. I selected the materials with guidance from Dave, so I got the look that I wanted. The design and materials are beautiful as well as highly functional and easy to maintain. The kitchen is a dream come true. The price was significantly less than another contractor?s price, and we did not have to downgrade anything. The crew were experts at what they do. They were very patient, explained everything, etc. They were also very neat. The kitchen was done in about 15 work days. There was an expected pause in the middle, after the cabinets went in and while the countertops were being made. There were no glitches. We are extremely happy with our new kitchen. There is nothing that I would change. I highly recommend Jim Carver and Sons.

Tony was wonderful. Beautiful tile work! I would use or refer Jim Carver and Sons to anyone who needs home renovation experts.

I found them (Dave Carver) to be professional and on top of getting the project scheduled. The actual contractors doing the work were professional, nice and very good about cleaning up after themselves. They worked quickly and finished in the time allotted. I would recommend them (and have) and would use them again.

They did a pretty good work, see things that didn't go right and so they corrected them and I'm still waiting for them to correct the last one. The guy who did the contract and monitors them, Dave Carver, is an outstanding guy and if he gave his word he's going to do something he does it. The work is still going on, they got one more little thing they got to do. The work started in October. Their price was reasonable. We consider them to do the bathroom.

The end result was fantastic!! The project took a little longer than anticipated partly due to my need to reschedule because of personal commitments and partly due to supply issues. The planning process with Mike went really well because he was really patient with showing me all the options and helping me to keep the cost down. All the guys who did the actual work couldn't have been more considerate and helpful. They made sure everything was cleaned up every day when they left and everything was back in place. I am a 78 year old who lives alone and I did not have one moment of unease with any of the young men who did the work. They always let me know when to expect them and they always showed up on time. They made sure everything was finished to my satisfaction and I was assured that if any problems developed they would take care of them. I hope to use them in the future for a kitchen remodel and would not hesitate to reccomend them to any of my friends. They are certainly A+ in my book!!

We visited their showroom in person, talked to Dave about our job and our desires for our small kitchen space to increase functionality and storage and we made an appt for him to come to our home the following Monday. He was discouraging on several of our requests or desires and/or he indicated they were not feasible with the cabinet company they work with so we acepted those limitations as it is what it is during the visit. I spent considerable time putting together images and detailed specifications on all appliances, etc. In electronic format and provided them on a flash drive. I have yet to have even the coutesy of my flash drive to be returned to me. I asked for a detailed written quote so we could consider our options for our complete kitchen redesign. He acted as though he didnt want to do that when he called that evening and emailed the rough draft drawings, which did not include some of the things we discussed. I said how can we even make a decision on what our options may possibly be if we dont know the final cost. He indicated he would look into it again later in the week with fresh eyes. As noted, no word and no returned flashdrive since our 9/9/13. It appeared obvious, but I still overlooked my doubt, that he did not want the job and was wanting us to make the choicr based on partial information only. I was greatly disappointed not to hear back however had read prior to our experience others had encountered this but I was more excited about all of the praise in the reviews and therefore really wanted to reach out and work with them. I was very disappointed how the experience turned out. Of course we have since moved on with adfitional folks who were very encouraging and responsive and actually met every request and need we had with no issues to customize where needed and use stock size cabinets in other area had the exact type of cabinet inners we desired such as full round lazy susans in the right size and other rollouts and shelves,c etc. We even upped our budget to get our ideal needs met thru great collaboration and communication with the company we decided to go with.

The work was done at my son's home on a house he was putting on the market. The technician considered the problem and told me he was able to fix it and the cost. The cost was better than another estimate. The job was completed in less than a half hour. We reviewed the door to make sure it worked. The strike plate was where it should be. The contact with the technician was friendly and professional.

Absolutely super job staffed by very professional workers. Attention to detail was tremendous. Both cleanup and removal of all materials was completed daily along with the hauling away of all debris. Both construction of cabinets and great detail to finish work was excellent. This type of attention to detail was the reason I used Jim Carvers on a previous project and will again.

one house.We needed an estimate for siding replacement and a replacement rear door to the deck. All suffering from wind damage. We received an estimate the day after calling and then it took a little doing to get the shade right for the siding. Carver took it upon themselves to find the right shade and the enough quantity to do the job without us having to have a two-tone house. Jim Carver himself came out to do the door and took the better part of a day to get it done to his satisfaction. All in all the work was well done, not the cheapest but we have considered them seriously as we think of having more work done.

From beginning to end we were very impressed with Dave Carver and his crew, Gary and John. Dave really worked with us on the designed plan. He would provide much needed input but was not too pushy. He basically made all of our dream kitchen ideas work better and in the end, turned out better than we could have imagined. Even when we would throw a wrench into the process, like buying a farm house marble sink on the spur of the moment, he was able to adjust his plans to accommodate for it. Lucky for me I was not at the house during the renovation, but my wife could not say enough good things about Gary and John's workmanship. They were very detailed and anytime we would point out small things they would accommodate us and fix them to our very high expectation. They opened up the kitchen to the closed in dining room, put in an island, with all new cabinets, new flooring, pendant lights, recessed lighting, under cabinet lights, and the list goes on, it was a complete overhaul of the kitchen. We liked them so much that we had the comeback to continue the flooring through the hallway and into the bathroom. The kitchen is now amazing and we cant believe it's ours!

The experience we had with Carver & Sons was awesome! Dave Carver is the designer we worked with. He and all the other employees we dealt with were very professional, personable, courteous, and patient. A couple issues came up, and they were dealt with swiftly and professionally. Then, we couldn't make up our minds on a couple things, and we changed our minds on a couple things. Dave always worked with us to make sure we were happy with everything. We were always treated with patience and courteousness. We are very happy with the work, the employees, and the results. We have had only great comments every time someone has seen the work for the first time after the remodel. I thought the cost for the remodel and the extras, was a little pricey, but after reading and talking to some others about their remodels or other work they had contracted, I have found that , yes, you get what you pay for! We received quality materials and quality workmanship. We would definitely use Carver & Sons again.

It was a good experience. I thought that they did a great job. They were excellent. They were a little late when they said they were going to start the project and it wasn't a big deal to us. It was 2 days later but they were finishing at another project. We were really pleased with them.

Everything seemed to go well up until the day of the scheduled installation, then it fell apart. Carver originally told us that their people would remove the old countertops the day before. Then that they would do it the morning of the installation and KBR would be here betw. 12 - 1 to install the new work. (we were told that we were #2 on their work list.) Then we were told that KBR would be here betw. 1 - 2 to do it all. When no one showed up by 2:00 on the day the work was to be done - we called Carver and were told KBR was running late (would be another 1 to 1-1/2 hrs). At 3:30 we called KBR and got same story - that they were running late. At 5:50 PM we called Carver to tell them to just CANCEL the work for that day (that it was too late in the day to start). At 6:20 the KBR crew called to say that they were at the factory and were loaded up and ready to come to start the work. We said "Not today". (Bear in mind that travel time to our house would be at least 45 minutes and so they couldn't be here until after 7PM at the least) Next day KBR called and said we were 1st on the list - we said OK - their crew arrived at 9:30 AM and were finished at 1:00 PM. We have no complaints about the quality of KBR's work. So our big complaint was the apparent lack of coordination between Carver & KBR and the mis-information being given to us by Carver.

.They worked with our son and daughter-in -law of Langenheim & Thomson Co in 2012 on the remodeling of half of our ranch home while we were out of the state. They tiled the entrance halls, walkways to the kitchen thru the living room, breakfast room and walkway to the sun room. New Corian counters and sink. Very pleased with their work. This year, (NOW) doing a complete remodel of the East wing. Two tiled bath rooms with all new cabinets, showers ,counters and sinks. New layout of the master bath. Master bedroom also being tiled. Quality people, using quality materials. This new project is Going GREAT! Again, same pleasant, professional people here. We couldn't ask for any better! DJL/jl

We were contacted by Steve Carver who immediately setup an appointment to provide us with an estimate. When Steve arrived he immediately took measurements and then spent nearly an hour to go over the options and products they offer. Steve explained who would actually install the doors and that they did not use subcontractors. He also mentioned their "door man" had been with the company for more than fifteen years and is very meticulous when it comes to details. When the installer, another Steve, arrived, he explained what his plans were for installing the doors. He was extremely polite, answered all of my questions, and kept me informed of exactly what he was doing. Due to the weather, the work was completed within two days and the two-man crew left no trace of their work; a very thorough cleanup. We are absolutely thrilled with our new doors. You can sense the improvement and quality from our prior doors and that there are no signs of gaps or drafts which made us believe we made a good choice in choosing a contractor and products.

It ended up taking them 5 weeks to come out and they did not end up completeing the work at that time. It was another 3 weeks before it was completely done. It was a good job once it was done, but it was $600 more than what they had quoted me. I just thought it was on the high side for the amount of work and the cost of the materials.

Their price was reasonable and they did an excellent job. They were quick, cleaned up, and the work was done on schedule.

I have used Carver before and have never been let down. From dealing with the Carvers and their biggest asset ( Kelly ) they always perform per quote and in checking prices theirs is always in line. The door projects were done on time and always per the quotes.

We went in for a new front door. Steve Carver sat with us and explained all the options we had. we even got to loot at some actual work done by them. I had to re-schedule because of some personal conflict, and they were extremely accommodating. They re-scheduled according to my convenience. The actual people who came do do the work were very knowledgeable about the work. They cleaned up very well after they were done with the job.

We ended up not selecting Jim Carver and Sons as they were a little more expensive for the exact same doors as another company. I believe they would do a great job and the doors are top notch. We used them for our bathroom remodel and they did a great job. I would consider using them again.
