It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. It was really good. I didn't pay anything extra. It took them a while to get back with us when we had any questions or something like that. They had to reschedule on me. I think it was because of the weather so it wasn't a huge thing. I will absolutely use them again in the future.

The morning of our appointment, I received an email from Andrew saying that due to the weather he wouldn't be able to make our appointment and asked if we could reschedule for earlier in the day or the following day. When I told him that I was not available during his times, his response included that after looking at our address, we are out of his coverage area. I don't mind that we needed to reschedule - bad weather happens. But to not even look at where we are located prior to his initial email I thought was very unprofessional. If he hadn't had to reschedule, who knows when I would have found out that we were out of his area. He essentially took up time that I could have spent with other, more responsible contractors.

This was a "BIG DEAL,", so we expected some glitches. The problem, though, was the sketchy communication. The work provided was just fine. The people arrived--after a few back-and-forth phone calls--and in a few hours, all was well. We were hoping that he/they would come and see what we wanted before showing up to do the work. That didn't happen, so when they showed up, it was "well, you need this and this before we can do that." So we went and got "this and this" and, as said, after a bit we had our wall. So, communication, that is, the lack of it was the problem. Maybe nobody is "at fault" with all this. Still, our experience made us completely dubious of any of Angie's BIG DEALs.

I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and it turned out well. They did a good job, but It took a little bit of time because I guess they sold so many Big Deals. I had to send a sharply worded email to them before I got a telephone response back from them as to when they would come out to do the work.

They were very flexible with the days that they came. They worked around the weather and our schedules. Very friendly and professional. My concerns were that the edging along the front walk wasn't done well. Also, when the grass would get long they left the cuttings. It was very visible and didn't give a finished look.

After the first cut they said it would be 7 or 8 days before the next one, which was fine with me. 12 or 13 days rolled around and no second cut. I called the service and was told the lawn guy was backed up due to rain and he would be there in a day or two. Five more days and nothing. Called again and got a recording and no further replies or contact.

I sent an email to Andrew at AWASSER82@live.com on May 9, 2013. I asked for an estimate on a simple yard clean-up that involved removing the leaves from the driveway, flowerbeds, window pits and ivy beds, as well as the removal of some young growth trees and possibly a mowing service. I stated the days that I would be available (All day Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and provided the following contact information: email, home phone number, and my cell phone number. I provided my home address so that they could come at their convenience, and I did not even require that I be home when they droppped by. Almost a week went by, and yet I heard nothing. On May 13th, I once again sent the same email to the same email address. This address was listed on the website, and both times I emailed, it apparently went through as I did not get a failed delivery message. I did not receive a response of any kind from Dunninaday (ironic "Done in a day"), so I will take my bussiness elsewhere. This is unfortunate as I will have additional tree and landscaping work to do to my home after the exterior renovation, but it won't be with someone who is to inconsiderate to even reply with an explaination that they are too busy, or that they have other jobs. I would understand that far more than just being ignored.

Andrew was very easy to work with. A good communicator, he understood what I wanted and his written estimate reflected that. Having never hired a landscaper before, I couldn't tell you if his price was high or low. But I can say that in terms of value, JD Dunninaday exceeded my expectations. Beautiful work done by a friendly and polite crew.

I called Andrew at JD Dunninaday at the end of April for a quote on several landscaping projects. He came out promptly, walked the property with me, and said he would write up an estimate. I asked him to price each project individually, since I wasn't sure I could afford to get it all done at once. After a few days, he emailed me the estimate, along with a rough sketch of how some of the major work would look. I decided to start with the most pressing problem -- the bed at the side of the house, which I wanted completely cleared and graded so that it sloped away from the house. My hope was that this would prevent water from entering the basement during heavy rains. I relayed this to Andrew and he sent a contract a few days later. At that point, I asked for proof of his insurance and bond. He replied by saying he wasn't bonded (which is contrary to the listing here) but did have insurance, and that no one had questioned his legitimacy before. I replied that it was a standard question that Angie's List recommends asking, but that it was no big deal. He said he would need a few days to get the insurance information to me. Communication broke down at this point. I never received the insurance info, and the promised start date of May 9 came and went with no word. I emailed to ask about the status and got no reply. After a week (during which we had a heavy rain and I got water in the basement), I called and left a voice message. Andrew replied that they were delayed by the rainy weather and they would try to get out the following week. That also came and went with no word. I emailed again, then called again. Andrew apologized for the delay and promised to come out sometime the following week, which was the week of May 20. Again, no show, but this time I got an email saying an emergency had come up at a job site and they wouldn't be able to get to me until Tuesday, May 28th. I got another email the day before saying they would be out early the next day. They showed up at 8:00 am and had the bed cleared an hour later. The work was entirely complete and looked great by the time I got home from work that evening. In summary, the communication and delays were frustrating, but they did good work in the end. And I got a nice discount for being an Angie's List member -- enough to offset the annual fee, actually, so Angie's List paid for itself!
Description of Work: Cleared out the bed along the side of my house, graded the soil away from the house to prevent water from seeping into the basement, mulched over new soil.

I called to schedule an estimate to have mulch installed in my front & back yard. The owner (Andy) answered his cell phone (the ph# listed on the website) and after explaining what I needed he told me to email him with my address & that based on my general location he would be out in a couple days to look at my yard. Apparently he was driving and unable to take down my information. I emailed him all of my contact info and his email account was blocked. I waited about 15 minutes and tried again. This time it worked, but I waited a few days and heard nothing. I emailed him again with all of the same information and he never responded. It was a lot of work on my end for no service. I would definitely not use them again.

The geothermal installation with four wells in the front yard was completed in March 2012. The front lawn was a mess with a large pile of dirt from the well drilling and trenching along with deep tire tracks from the large well drilling machinery. I was told by the installers of the geothermal system to wait 6-9 months to renovate the lawn so that the dirt could settle in the trenches. In April 2012 I selected three companies from Angie's list and requested quotes. One company was in Kentucky and could not bring their equipment into Ohio. I got a bid from one of the companies that quoted planning grass seed. Andrew Wasserman the owner of Duninaday Landscaping gave me a quote for using sod that was in line with what the other company wanted for grass seed. My discussions with Andrew went well, I felt that he knew what he was doing and I would end up with a very nice lawn. Part of this confidence came from the many favorable Angie's List reviews. Based on the initial quote and my meeting with Andrew we agreed that he would do the lawn renovation in the fall of 2012. We also agreed that we would revisit the quote at that time and finalize the contract. During my discussions with Andrew I learned that his company was relatively new with a small staff meaning that he was very busy and had to be heavily involved in the actual field work. Since I was giving Andrew 6 months lead time on the project I didn't think much of the implications of this. Starting in late August 2012 I started to contact Andrew to finalize the contract and look at dates when the work would begin. I started having problems getting in contact with Andrew. He had to reschedule some meetings and most of our meetings occurred in the early evening after he had been working on other projects all day. In retrospect I was chasing him down more often than I should. At this point I had a horrible looking front yard, was approaching the end of the season for installing a lawn, and was confident that because of all the praise on Angie's List that Andrew would come through. The work got started in late September and was completed within a week. The new sod looked great with the only downside being the amount of watering I had to do to get the grass established. By the middle of October Andrew looked at the sod and said that I could stop the water. At this same time Andrew and I agreed on a lawn maintenance program starting in the Spring of 2013. Spring came late to Cincinnati and the lawn didn't look that great. In late March I sent an e-mail to Andrew asking when the lawn maintenance program would start. He indicated someone would do the first application within the next week and the second step in early May. As the weather warmed up I saw other lawns looking really nice, but mine had some brown grass especially around the edges such that you could see the individual panels of sod. In a couple of places the sod panels were completely separated. Also the area of lawn that had been seeded was full of crab grass and weeds. While concerned about the lawn I thought that Andrew would be able to correct this situation through the 2013 maintenance activities that we had discussed. When he missed the first commitment to treat the lawn, I sent a second e-mail asking what had happened and when I could expect the treatments to start. After waiting another week with no response I decided that I needed to find another company to get my lawn in shape and would not be working with him in the future. I got an e-mail response from Andrew saying that he understood my decision and apologized for the situation. I am now in the process of finding a new company to take care of my lawn. I had hoped for a long-term relationship with Duninday Landscaping, but am very disappointed. I am also disappointed to have such an experience with a highly rated company on Angie's List.
Description of Work: A major portion of the work involved lawn renovation following installation of a geothermal heating system in front yard. Removed of a large pile of soil. Also graded front lawn area and prepared the soil prior to installation of sod. Added additional soil and amendments based on a soil tests. In a second area grass seed and straw was applied. A third area of lawn with existing grass was treated as part of a plan to remove existing weeds and thicken the grass. Also removed a fir tree and transplanted three lilac bushes and provided mulch for a few a areas.

Andrew came by our house on Tuesday before the work was done on Thursday. He sat down with us and gave us everything we wanted to know. He even gave us help on the things we wanted to do ourselves! He was not pushy, just 100% helpful and honest. He wanted us to know exactly what work would be done and how much to expect paying based on the different ideas we had. Thursday, the work was done exactly as promised before I even got home from work! Everything was cleaned up and looked wonderful! I can not express how happy I am with this experience. Thank you, Andrew and team for a wonderful experience!
Description of Work: We had our old landscaping (mainly very large, old bushes) pulled out and new plants were planted. All leaves in the yard were removed, Honeysuckle was trimmed back as well as a trench being made so we could add mulch.
