Incredibly well-Hicon is a top-notch company, from the receptionist to the sales representatives, to the actual masons/technicians. They repeatedly went above and beyond what was expected of them-even to the point of having a sales rep climbing a 40 ft ladder to help a roofing company perform Rilem tests on the mortar joints. I bugged these guys non-stop w/ questions and they always came through-just an incredible team of professionals from top to bottom. They cost more than the others, but you get what you pay for. Their workers were skilled, communicative, and reassuringly helpful.

Steve came to see what work I needed within days of my first phone call. Work started also within days of the accepted estimate. The workers were very professional and worked very hard. (There was some taxing pick and shovel excavating to do.) They were precise about measurements and leveling and spent a lot of time with preparation for both the wall and the terrace. They were always on time for work, never left early, and took very few breaks. The guys were friendly and very personable as well as skilled. I felt comfortable with them around the house. I am very pleased with the results and they cleaned up very well after.

While the estimator was professional and friendly during the visit, an absurdly overpriced estimate followed a week later that was *ten-fold* higher than was reasonable for the moderate work required.

I don't give this kind of praise easily: tremendous experience from absolute start (first call to Hikon) to finish (crew wrapped up today). If Angie's List had something better than "A," I'd give it. They responded to, basically, a '911' from me inquiring about how fast they could get this work done. That triggered a same-day stop to the site by Steve Sprengard (Paver unit), next-day (maybe same-day?) estimate, a SOLID recommendation for paver selection that differed from my original idea (i.e. Greg didn't let me flounder and knew what would look good at a reasonable cost), a crew that showed up 2 business days later to take care of business, 4-5 days of solid work by a few extremely professional and talented and friendly folks, and an end-product that is in my top 3 favorite things for my new home. I could not have dreamed the work would go better or end up better. The ONLY reason that they have a 'B' for Price is because it says 'Price' and not 'Value'. Factually, the walk was pricier than a competitor. Interestingly enough, though, the patio was the same price as that competitor. I don't think that too many places prep the site nearly as deeply as they do. I also would have easily paid a premium for the quick response, but I ended up just paying what I should be paying, I think, for solid, high quality work thus the value was superb. Both items basically built themselves from my perspective. Unless my memory is failing, I don't think that I even met Steve once--just 4-5 phone calls over a few days, him stopping by the house a couple of times, and a basic landscape sketch. He even took time to explaining different materials, some future recommendations, worried about how it looked with the house overall, etc...Could arguably be my BEST experience with any type of contracted work. Absolute perfection.

The guy that did the granite work forgot a step, and filled up our entire house with granite dust. They sent in a entire crew that cleaned our entire house top to bottom. They then discounted us for their mistake. Their finished work was absolutely beautiful top notch. I would recommend them to anybody.

They are very professional. They came and I told them what I wanted done. They suggested a different kind of brick that matched something I already had, so it would look nice. They did a good job.

I have wanted this for years and was so pleased to finally get it done. All of the employees were terrific! They were fast, professional, and did a terrific job!

I did not have the work done because their estimate was 3X that of the second highest estimate. I will go with another masonry contractor that I found in Angie's List. ($4135)

Everything was great except for the price. He was on time, friendly, and knowledgable. The price, however, was ABSURD compared to other contractors. I contracted to have the work done for $30,000 less than what Hicon quoted. Perhaps they just were not interested in taking on the job but they still took time to do the estimate. Then again, the estimate had to have taken several hours to complete so maybe they were actually being serious with their bid. The company appears to do good work, it's just that their price was out of this world. Also, there was no follow up after the bid so I imagine the just didn't want to take on the project. I doubt that I will call them again.

Neat, nice, cleaned up, came when they were supposed to. Very nice people.

THEY WERE PROMPT, CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES, & WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL.

OTHER CONCRETE COMPANIES WEREN'T EVEN INTERESTED IN GIVING AN ESTIMATE OR DIDN'T RETURN CALLS. HICON WAS PROMPT TO GIVE AN ESTIMATE, CALLED AFTERWARDS TO CHECK FOR FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS, AND HAD A WRITTEN ESTIMATE SENT TO US IN DAYS. THE WORK LOOKS GREAT AND WAS COMPLETED IN ONLY A FEW DAYS. PRICEY, BUT VERY PROFESSIONAL.

THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS MIXED. THE INITIAL VISIT WAS PLEASANT AND INFORMATIVE, THE ESTIMATE QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY DELIVERED. THE WORKERS WERE PLEASANT AND CLEANED UP WELL AFTER THEMSELVES. THE FINAL RESULT HOWEVER, WAS DISAPPOINTING. THE STEPS ARE UNEVEN IN HEIGHT. FROM THE STREET THE PORCH IS BEAUTIFUL, BUT THE DETAILS ARE UNEVEN UPON CLOSER INSPECTION. COMPLAINTS AND FOLLOW-UP WAS LESS SUCCESSFUL RESULTING IN A MEAGER $100 REBATE. I WOULD NOT WORK WITH THEM AGAIN.

IT DOES NOT SEEM THAT THE WORK THEY WERE GOING TO DO WAS WORTH $6000+.

THEY ACTUALLY COST MORE THAN MY OTHER BID, BUT I LIKED THEM BETTER, SO I WENT WITH THEM AND WAS GLAD I DID.

OVERALL A VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE. STEVE, SALES AND DESIGN, WAS FRIENDLY, KNOWLEDGEABLE, PUNCTUAL AND KEPT HIS WORD. THE WORK CREW WAS VERY POLITE, THEY CLEANED UP NICELY EVERY EVENING, AND PAID ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK. I WOULD USE THEM AGAIN AND RECOMMEND THEM TO FRIENDS.

THE REPRESENTATIVE WHO HANDLED OUR JOB, DOES NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS, EVER, AT LEAST NOT TO THIS CUSTOMER. WHEN I REACHED HIM TO REQUEST AN ESTIMATE, HE SAID HE WOULD COME TO LOOK AT THE PATIO WHILE I WAS AT WORK THE NEXT WEEK, THEN DID NOT SHOW UP. WHEN I FINALLY RECEIVED THE ESTIMATE AND ASKED THEM TO DO THE WORK, IT TOOK WEEKS AND ADDITIONAL PHONE CALLS BEFORE THE WORKERS ARRIVED TO DO THE JOB. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE REPAIR (ONE OF THE STEPS WAS NOT LEVEL). I CALLED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SHORTLY AFTER THE JOB WAS COMPLETED. HE SAID HE WOULD COME LOOK AT IT AND CALL ME TO DISCUSS IT. HE DID NOT. A MONTH LATER I CALLED HIM AGAIN AND LEFT A MESSAGE. HE DID NOT RESPOND. THREE WEEKS LATER I CALLED AGAIN. HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE HERE THIS AFTERNOON. I HOPE WE ARE EVENTUALLY ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM.

I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE INITIAL VISIT BY THE REPRESENTATIVE. HE SEEMED VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND VERY PATIENT WITH MY QUESTIONS. AFTER WAITING A WEEK FOR AN ESTIMATE I CALLED AND FINALLY GOT AN ESTIMATE OVER THE PHONE. THE ACTUAL WRITTEN ESTIMATE TOOK MORE THAN 10 BUSINESS DAYS TO REACH US. WE CHOSE ANOTHER MASON WHO'S BID WAS 1/3 OF THE PRICE. I THINK THAT HICON IS PROBABLY A WONDERFUL COMPANY, BUT WE COULDN'T AFFORD THEM.

THIS COMPANY IMPRESSED US WITH THEIR PROFESSIONALISM AND PRESENTATION. THEY ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE AND COURTEOUS. THEIR BID WAS SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER THAN OTHER BIDS WE GOT FOR A SMALL JOB, WHICH IS WHY WE DID NOT HIRE THEM.

REQUESTED ESTIMATE. I RECEIVED AN IMMEDIATE CALL BACK FROM DAN. MY REPRESENTITIVE RECEIVED A CALL AN HOUR LATER AND TOLD THAT HE WOULD BE CALLED THE NEXT WEDS. TO SET THURS. APPOINTMENT. NEVER RECEIVED CALL. WHEN I TRIED TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON, THE COMPNAY CHANGED ITS TUNE AND NOW DECIDED THEY DID NOT WORK IN THAT AREA AND HAD TOTATLLY LOST ALL RECORD OF MY HOME OR CALL. THIS WAS A TOTAL WASTE OF MY TIME.

BE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THEIR DEFINITIONS.

THEY HAD DONE A JOB FOR US A YEAR AGO AND WE HAD ENCOUNTERED PROBLEMS WITH THE WALKWAY AND THEY CAME TO REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT LOOKED LIKE AN ANIMAL MIGHT HAD CAUSED THE PROBLEM NOT THEIR WORKMANSHIP. THEY REALLY STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK!!!

THEY WERE VERY PROMPT AND CLEAN IN THEIR WORK. NICE PEOPLE AND VERY COURTEOUS
