Herrmann Services

Went every well from start to finish. Took them about 5 hours to install. They answered every question I had, and I had a lot. They were very nice and cleaned up before leaving.

No repairs were done. Good information and expertise but $380 for less than an hour her seemed pricy.

They were extremely responsive. Their answering service immediately forwarded my call to their plumber on duty, Sarah, and she gave me some diagnostic check suggestions on the phone. She came out within 2 hours with a replacement pump. She tried to determine if the current one, only a couple of months out of warranty, could be adjusted to keep working, but it didn't seem to turn on and off with 100% certainty. Given the seriousness of the leakage from the drains and foundation cracks, I chose to replace the pump. After the installation, Sarah recommended and showed us an option for a battery-backup pump system (which would have to be ordered), which we are going to pursue for the future. This company is always very attentive to cleaning up after the work. We have used them for many years and have a maintenance contract with them for A/C and plumbing work, under the company name Hermann Services.

I have had no problems with them. They do real good work. I have got a new house here as I brought it new and all the work that was done was horrible. Then these guys came in and redid it and did repair which was a main thing. They do good work. The last time they were here was to checking the heating and air out and getting it ready for next season. They were here in making sure it’s working and making sure free levels. For plumbing, they came out and put new filter in and checked my humidifier, made sure that everything is right. They also made sure that pipe is not leaking or anything. They do really thorough job when they come. What I like is when they are looking around if they see in your basement something is wrong even though they don’t do that work they will always tell you that something is wrong. The guy told me that I had to get the pipe right as it was put in wrong. He also said that if that breaks off then my whole basement can get flooded. They have done real good for me. Their price is really reasonable. Their quality of work is excellent. They come immediately when I call. If you get a maintenance contract with them then they don’t charge you for any emergency call or no service charge. When they tell they are going to be there then they are there. Their professionalism is unbelievable. I would not trust anybody else other than them.

We had a problem with our air conditioner and called Herrmanns to schedule a visit from one of their technicans. He came out at the arranged time and diagnosed the problem. We were given information on part replacement and on replacing the unit. The price, on replacing the unit, seemed high and we were put in touch with the owner who was willing to work with us and gave us his lowest price. The price seemed fair and we scheduled the work. Can not say enough good things about the service we received. Punctional - profesional - answered all questions - removed all old parts - cost was as quoted . We even received a phone call to make sure everything was to our liking .

It went really well. It took about an hour and half. They seemed to know what they were doing and didn't upsell me.

After my toilet tank cracked open and flooded my downstairs bathroom, I called Herrmann (on Friday 8/5) to inquire about the cost to replace the toilet. I was shuffled to the plumber's voicemail where I left a fairly detailed message, my name, and my phone number. I never received a call back. On Monday afternoon (8/8), I called again and spoke to the man answering the phone and explained the situation. He seemed puzzled and said he would have someone call me. Guess what?- No one ever did. Apparently the plumbing business is going so well that you can just blow off potential customers when you feel like it. I'll continue to search Angie's List for a plumbing company that wants my business.

My AC wasn't blowing cold air & when I called to make an appt they were very nice & informative & were able to get me in that day. Mike arrived on time & was very professional. Initially he thought it could be the coil or it could be it just needed freon (sp?). I elected to just add the freon as my AC is only 6 yrs old & didn't want the expense of a new coil unless it was absolutely necessary. Mike added freon, but when he went to measure what he'd added it barely registered he'd added any at all so he didn't charge me for the freon & said it was just a dirty filter after all & to change it monthly. Thank you Mike! I feel they are honest & trustworthy & would use them again.

He said he had to go and look for one. He came back quite a bit later with a burner that would only work on high. He wanted to charge me $400.00 for it. I ended up paying $250.00 for no work.

I thought they were pricey. It was a nasty job, so I can understand. They did a good clean up job, and got me going again.

The work done on the cleaning was great and the technician was knowledgeable and friendly. The cost for replacing the pumps was 2x the other estimates that I received - so I went with another firm.

Their salesman was extremely professional, knew exactly what he was doing, very personable. They came on time, worked quickly, didn't leave a mess, and were happy to answer any questions. I was also able to get a $500 discount for paying with cash, and their prices were very reasonable.

Work was done in a professional manner. Techs left house as it was when they arrived. Had a ductwork vibration issue develop following installation. Herrman returned the next day to correct...no issues since.

I thought that they were very knowledgeable. They put quite a bit of effort in some jury rigging. They were fairly competent, and they knew what they had to do. I wasn't crazy about the price. They charge a fee just for coming out. There is a service plan, but you have to pay a certain amount. It's like a membership. If you join, you get a discount on services, but it's about $10 a month. That was the only part I didn't like about it. They did an excellent job. They were able to do everything right there. They actually told me that it would cost more to fix something than to replace it. They were able to do all the work on the same day. They came in uniform and had papers with them.

They do excellent work! We have used Hermann Services for 10+ years. We called them at 8PM on Sunday evening after a pipe burst in the wall of our finished basement and water was flooding the wall and wall-to-wall carpet. Sarah talked with us and made us feel at ease that they could fix the problem. We shutoff the water to the house and Herrmann Services came the next day to make the repairs. Sarah and Chris were extremely professional and answered all of my questions. They fixed the burst pipe and toilet and explained their work to me in a way that I could understand. They also gave me a referral on Sunday night to a water damage company so we could prevent mold growth. We really appreciated their help during this crisis!

Although I noticed no heating problems after the tune-up, the belt of the blower gradually loosened due to slippage of an adjustable part and by the time cooling was required in May/June, the rate of airflow was greatly reduced and the house became uncomfortably warm. The problem was detected and repaired in mid-June by another company which I had contacted for additional advice on replacement units and a competitive cost estimate.

They are good. We have used them for years and they’ve always done a very good job. The plumbers are courteous. We’ve always been pleased. They could be a little cheaper. We’re not going to get a better company. The last job was insurance-reimbursed work. We certainly would continue to use them in the future.

They are very professional and they did the job quickly without any hassle. Their price was very good.

The work was completed and the technician did a good job. My problem with the company is that they give you no indication of how much it will cost despite the fact that they know exactly what their normal charge is. I had called to get an estimate after purchasing the faucet and seeing that the store charges $110.00 for installation. Herrmann refused and said it was company policy to not give an estmate over the phone. I told them at the time that I realized if there were other problems it would cost more. (the base price is $279 + $49 trip charge). Obviously there were other problems since they needed to replace a couple of other things. The technician was here for about 2:45. I did get an estimate from the technician before he did the job and I regret not telling him to forget it. When one has the technician there, one tends to go ahead with the service which is what I did. I called the following Monday to complain about the cost. The service manager said he thought the cost was a little high and he would talk to the tech and get back to me. He did not return my call so I finally called him on Friday. No adjustment was made. I have used Herrmann Services before. Last year they installed a hot water heater for me (they did give me an estimate than). I will not use them again.

Everytning was A-1. You cannot tell that the kitchen cabinets were ever removed. Everything was cleaned up afterwards. They listened and responded in a kind manner. They aided in arranging financing of the project.

The dispatchers were very pleasant and efficient. Our technician Chris arrived within the specified window, and quickly ascertained that our problem was due to a power switch at the top of the unit being turned off. We couldn't see the switch because it was hidden by a vent from the furnace. The vent had dropped over time and had pushed the switch off. Chris put a sling under the vent and secured it so the problem wouldn't recur. He was very pleasant and took the time to speak to my husband on the phone. The bill was almost $150.00...he charged me their lowest service charged but had to add $49.00 for travel. Thank goodness the company had a $25 off coupon on Angie's list which he accepted. He wasn't gone 5 minutes when a representative from the company called to check if I was happy with the job. I was very grateful that I didn't have to replace the unit and that I wouldn't have to use my neighbors's shower again!

They had fixed a minor problem on our furnace several years ago. It was extremely cold and we had no heat. They came out and fixed it. It was a minor problem. I was impressed with that because they could have told us that we needed a whole new furnace but they replaced something that was 2 inches long. They have come back and done a summer inspection and cleaning a few times after that. I find them to be very honest to let us go.

My brother in-law recommended him to me because he had the same work done by them and was pleased. My experience with them was fine and the person that came was very knowledgeable and he did a fine job. I felt that was a little on the higher side, but they did an excellent job and they came when they said they were going to come. It has been working just fine.

I have been using them for 3 or 4 years now. They do all my maintenance and my service. Service wise they are great. I just think that they are a little bit pricey. I didn't have to spend anything because I just pay them $16.00 a month and I have a contract with them. They are very good and very professional. They have never given me any wrong information or any wrong advice. The quality of work is very good. I will continue to use them

We had a kitchen drain stoppage on 10/16/09 and 10/17/09. On Saturday 10/17, I looked up plumbing services on Angie’s List and found that Herrmann Plumbing was an A rated provider AND they were available on Saturdays. I phoned and was able to get a service technician out to my house the same day – Saturday 10/17/09. Job number 126519; invoice number 32382. When setting up the appointment, I explained to the person on the phone what the issue was – that we believed that the pipe(s) were blocked with spaghetti noodles that had been put in the disposal the day before. I told her that we had used a 20’ auger to no avail. She indicated that she would be sure that the serviceman brought a longer auger. Further, I explained to Allen (the serviceman), when he arrived, that we had attempted to unclog the pipe with a 20’ auger, but it didn’t seem to do the trick. Allen took us down to our unfinished basement and surveyed the length of the pipes. He indicated that he had brought a 50’ auger, but the work would probably be very difficult and that he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t need to cut the pipes. He indicated that the charge, due to the difficulty, would be in the neighborhood of +$800.00. I have to say that I was stunned – but my husband and I trusted that he was experienced and we trusted that there would be difficulty based on his statements. In fact, he used the 50’ electric auger (plugged into our electrical outlet) – and within 30 minutes the clog was taken care of and the issue was fixed. There was no difficulty as he fed the auger line into the pipes with ease. Allen even asked my husband to go into our unfinished basement because said that it would ‘help’ – so that he could be sure that the auger was going through the pipes appropriately. There were a couple of turns to the pipes, but the auger went through beautifully. Allen was here a total of 1 hour, but the actual work on the drain was 30 minutes. He charged us $739.00 in addition to the one time trip charge (for a Saturday) of $159. He did apply the $25.00 Angie’s List coupon that we printed from the Angie’s List website. We feel that this charge is unrealistic given the time spent and the ‘difficulty’ of the job. We would like to see some sort of refund applied. We find it hard to believe that the labor costs are in excess of $600.00 for 30 minutes. We understand that this was Sunday, but seriously, $600.00 for 30 minutes is outrageous. We have left the owner, Alex Herrmann - more than 4 voice mail messages - since 10/19/09 and have not received any type of response whatsoever. There is no way that this company should have an A rating on Angie's List. I am a faithful and long time Angie's List user and am extremely disappointed with this service provider.
