Mr. Drummey performed a home inspection for us in November of 2010. Although the inspection appeared to be exhaustive we suffered through a cold house that winter. Upon further inspection by professional insulators we discovered that Mr. Drummey failed to check the insulation levels in the attics, and instead simply checked the acceptable box on his form. Mr. Drummey’s failure to perform a thorough job has cost us over $1500 to bring the home’s insulation levels up to acceptable levels and code. When contacted about the issue Mr. Drummey could only offer his apologies. I would not recommend using Mr. Drummey as a home inspector especially when he will not stand behind his work.

He did a very nice job. He was very thorough and also available for follow up questions. We would definitely recommed him to others.

Inspector was very punctual. I felt the job was done in a very well. He paid great attention to detail giving suggestions and thoughts on the items of concern he did find. The report I received was easy to read and very detailed with pictures and recommendations. He made a call to follow up after I received the report to see if I had any questions. I had the competed report in under 24 hours from the time of inspection. I am very satisfied with my experience.

This was a great experience. He was very thorough and took his time going through the entire house. He then would sit me down after each section was done and we would go over everything together. He would explain if there was a problem and what the remedy would be for it. He then gave me time to digest that while he went on to the next section of the house. He said he wanted to make the inspection "stress free" and he did. We learned so much about our house. My parents were present for the inspection and they were very impressed. He is well worth his reasonable fee and if we need another inspection I will call him.

We have used him before. We looked him up on Angie’s List and he had very high ratings. We totally agree with that. We spent about $395 for the service. The last service went very well. He helped us find some major defects in the home and we ended up not purchasing. So, we are using him again this coming Wednesday. Hopefully, he won’t find as many mistakes this time, but it was good. He is definitely the person I would call. The price he charges is about average.

Everything went well. Maury contacted our Realtor and arranged the time for the inspection after I gave him our dates of availability.

Maury was great to work with. He was very thorough and provides a very detailed report. He spent a lot of time with my going over every detail of the property. He was very in depth and brought 2 ladders with him to inspect the roof and attic. He even coordinated a termite inspection with another provider for me. I will definitely use Maury again if I need another inspection.

Murray told me to wait until after his inspection before I called in a structural engineer and termite inspection, because he could tell me if these were unnecessary extra expenses. Murray went over the whole house pretty carefully. He found lots of things and he deserves credit for that. Here are the reasons I would not score him with an "A" however: 1) He and I did not find any evidence of current termite activity. But, he insisted I get an official one done by a licensed inspector anyway. I did so, but as we very well knew, there was nothing to find and I wasted another $65 on a useless termite report. We already knew there was nothing. I don't understand what that was about. 2) He failed to notice that the north side chimney brick facings are falling off. Now that I own the house it is too late to lower my offer to pay the thousands it will take to repair this. 3) He did not notice the siding pulling apart, especially on the south side.

I was in charge of settling my parent's estate and wanted an inspection on their home, to see if there were any issues or repairs needed. Maury was extremely professional and even offered tips on how to improve the appearance of the house. He pointed out necessary repairs and gave me information about the overall condition of the house that I could pass along to prospective buyers. It put my mind at ease, knowing that there shouldn't be any surprises from a buyer's inspection. That alone made it worth the price of doing my own inspection.

A methodical approach was the core of Maury's work. He is a well trained and easy to understand. He allows for multiple opportunities to ask questions. Maury was busy documenting concerns ahead of our appointed time. This provided a prompt start to a verbal report that showed he is interested in the home buyer being well informed.

We hired Maury based upon his excellent reviews here on Angie's List, and he lived up to all of them. He was almost immediately available to do the inspection, was on time, professional, and very organized. The inspection was very thorough, and he made his report available to us by email the next morning. He offered a lot of good ideas in terms of maintenance tips, and helped with some brainstorming in terms of modifying the home to suit my wife's aging parents. Most importantly, the seller had not tuned on the water as of the day of the inspection, so he returned at a later time to finish the inspection and updated his report at no additional charge once service was restored. I'll note that he definitely has his procedure down and doesn't like to be interrupted while he's working, but once he's done he'll answer any and all of your questions in detail. Great job.

I got a discount for paying up front. He caught things that a lot of other people would not have including some things in the fireplace that normally would not have been found. He was very thorough.

This is the fourth home that we've bought and by far the best inspection we have ever had done. Maury was very professional and knowledgeable. His inspection of our home was very thorough and took all of five hours to complete. He was quick to get back to us with a detailed report of the inspection. It was obvious to us that Maury was invested in honestly educating us on the home we were about to purchase and not just giving the agents a quick clean sale. Thanks Maury! Maury was very prompt and professional. We have not purchased a home for over 10 years and were a little nervous about who to call and what to expect. From the first phone call, Maury put us at ease and made us feel comfortable that we were going to be working with a professional who cared about their work. Maury was detailed in his inspection. He documented all of his findings, walked us around to review any points of intrest with us and was very receptive to providing additional details and recomendations on any questions we had on what he was showing us. Maury also was able to provide quality recomendations for people to call on specialty services like termite inspections and more detailed water intrusion and air quality testing. A good guy to work with who knows what he is talking about and takes his job seriously. Hard to find much of that these days.

My wife and were a little nervous going into the home inspection for our first home. Maury was extremely reassuring to us, given his 20+ years of experience, including experience with older homes like the one we were interested in. This experience was priceless to us, as he was able to explain everything he was inspecting, and relate it to what he has seen before. Maury went above and beyond after the inspection, providing us with contractor contacts, and essentially being on-call for all of the questions we have had since the inspection.

I found this company because it is rated number one on Angie's List, I just used the service. Maury came to inspect a home for the pre-purchase. Now I understand why he is number one. He is very professional, inspected the house for four hours level by level, and explained to us after each level. We are so impressed with his work that we are definitely going to use his service again. He sent us the report the same day, and answered my questions through email after the inspection. Everything done very promptly, we are impressed. His inspection does not include insects/termite, radon, mold, lead, or asbestos. I guess special license is needed to inspect these five things, if you have concerns, then you need a specialist. But Maury is like a family doctor, he will tell you if you need to see a specialist, and can recommend to you one if needed.

I called GCHI and arranged for a pre-purchase inspection. Mr. Drummy arrived the next day on time and spent four and a half hours both inspecting and explaining in detail his findings. He even helped with recommendations as to care and maintenance of various items. He was very thorough. I received a detailed report of his findings the next morning. In my opinion my money was wisely spent. The problems he found with the house would have cost me much more to remedy had he not pointed them out before I made a purchase. I came out ahead.

I ask G. C. Housing Evaluation Service, Inc. (Maury Drummey) to do a presale evaluation of the house that my Father-in-law will be selling. He is 89 and recently moved to a retirement community. He was on time and prepared. He evaluated the exterior, ground floor, basement, and attic. After each area he showed us what he had found, things that should be fixed and things that were good. Since this was a presale evaluation he also explained what might be ask for by a buyer and if it made sense or not to replace it. He also gave us ideas on cosmetic fixes and positive aspects of the house. He was thorough and patient both with my questions and my father-in-laws hearing and comprehension. He e-mailed me a copy of the evaluation the next day. The evaluation contained pictures of problems with arrows and suggestions for remedies. He grading of the problems as Acceptable, Marginal or Defective and Not Inspected or Not Present. I have bought 5 and sold 4 homes and felt that the inspection was thorough and appropriate to our needs (presale). Muary was affable without loosing sight of the business at hand.

It was a very positive experience. He is very professional and he explained to me exactly what he was going to do. Not only will he tell you, but will also give you pictures. He doesn't give his opinion, he only gives factual information. The report on my house was 18 pages long, so he is very thorough. Although I was very pleased with his evaluations at the time, I found some issues with the house later on that I feel he should have caught.

We made an appointment over the phone. He arrived on time. He conducted a very comprehensive inspection. He completed the outside and then walked us around showing what he had found. He did the same with the inside. He took pictures and answered our questions. He emailed the report the following morning and has been more than willing to answer any questions we have had. Our real estate agent was so impressed he said he would have him inspect the next house he bought. I would recommend Mr. Drummey to anyone. He gives you much more that expected.

I've bought and sold quite a few houses, and Mr. Drummey was the most thorough and informative inspector I've ever used. In addition to explaining every item in the report (and pointing it out to me in person), I got an incredibly detailed inspection report, complete with photos. Don't buy a house without an inspection from GCES!

Fantastic service! Very flexible to accommodate our work schedules, Mr. Drummey did the inspection himself and allowed us to accompany him throughout the house. The printed report was informative and complete. The estimate for his fee was accurate. He was very prompt and professional, as were the other inspectors he suggested for termites and radon. As a woman, I was pleased that he spoke to me very respectfully, without patronizing, addressed every concern and answered all questions to my satisfaction. Most importantly, I felt that he was unbiased and was striving to help my spouse and I make an informed decision about the purchase of our new home. With no reservations, I would "highly" recommend this inspector to others purchasing a home in the area.

Mr. D was extremely professional and courteous at every step of the way, beginning with my initial inquiry. I wanted an inspection of a 130 year old home so that I could make an informed maintenance plan. After a thorough explanation of his service and how he planned to proceed, he began by inspecting the exterior, followed by each individual interior floor. After each segment, he told me of his findings, showing me pictures at one point. He was very open to questions and proceeded at a pace someone like me with no construction/handy person knowledge could follow easily.

Very thorough inspection. Key findings explained verbally to us as it was being done. Very prompt and professional service. Extensive report emailed to us the next morning. Mr. Drummey was quick to respond at all points from first contact to following up on after-inspection questions. He categorized the details of the feedback to point out the most critical findings and those that were less critical. That was very helpful. One negative was the fact that he did not express in the feedback the fact that he was not checking for asbestos-wrapped pipes in the crawl space. For that reason, we are using "B" for the quality of work rating. (As it turned out, the insect inspector flagged that concern and, in the end, it became the "deal breaker.") He did, however, indicate a few other areas that were not covered by the inspection yet would be important to have checked (such as how well the furnace works) but provided guidance as to how we could get those evaluated.
