Description of Work: Insulation in attic & other energy efficiency work completed to get incentives from the city of Cincinnati & Duke Energy. The quality of the work was good & when there was some miscommunication, the GCEA staff worked as an advocate on our part. All the concerns were resolved without extra payment on our part. My biggest complaint was timeliness. It took a lot of phone tag to get the assessment completed. It took a long time to get our estimate. The work took 4 days, instead of 2. (One of those extra days was due to the miscommunication that occurred somewhere between the GCEA, the insulation company rep, & the insulation company workers. Not sure where the breakdown occurred). So, if you can be patient with getting the work completed, you probably won't have any issues.

Steve Lepper and his crew did a fantastic job of weather-sealing and insulating. I've never met a contractor or workman who was more knowledgable, skilled, hard-working, and personable than Steve. He explained everything to me and I have complete confidence in his work. The total contract was for $4900, of which Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance paid 50%. He spent several days with a helper sealing and weatherstripping and he brought in a crew who specialized in blown-in celulose insulation who worked very hard for the better part of two days. They insulated the downstairs walls by removing strips of vinyl siding to bore holes into each wall cavity. They also cut a trap door in the ceiling of a second floor bedroom closet and managed to blow celulose insulation into parts ot the ceiling that had no insulation. They did a beautiful job of cleaning up everything afterwards. The whole job took longer than Steve thought it would because he kept finding more things to fix. The increase in comfort level in my house (as well as savings on utility bills) makes it worth every penny.
Description of Work: I had a very thorough energy audit of my 1895-year-old house that took over four hours and cost me only $100, thanks to a grant from the Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance. Steve Lepper used a 'blow-door' and an infra-red camera to show me where I was losing a lot of heat. He squeezed into a very tight crawl-space and found significant air leaks in the foundation. He showed me areas of the second floor (a finished attic) where the ceiling had no insulation. Much of the ground floor had no insulation in the walls. He found creative ways to fix them all.
