The general experience was pretty terrible and we honestly have to make a strong recommendation that people not work with Garry for any of the business needs or to be a contractor on any of his projects. We're generally happy with the home itself, but the business and ethics side of it are an absolute mess. As part of our new home warranty, our front door was supposed to be refinished with a new stain. It took about 2 years to finally get someone to come to our house to actually do the work, and after it was done, the painted placed a lein on our property for $1,400 because his lawyer told us that Garry Brasch didn't pay him for the work, and Garry owed him massive amounts of money for other jobs all over the city. The lawyer also told us that it looked like Garry was being investigated for something along the lines of fraud and or forging of legal documents. Sure enough, soon after that we were contacted by Detective James Grindle of the Springfield Police Department for exactly that reason. He asked me about my dealings with Garry Brasch, and informed me that his investigation had uncovered what appeared to be as much as, or more than $2 million in fraud, and forged legal documents associated with that fraud. He also told me that Garry was apparently being sued by a number of his business associates. Detective Grindle encouraged me to speak with the Prosecutor's Office, who then confirmed what we had been told by the Detective, that some of the people who had been hurt by Garry's business dealings would have trouble ever recovering from the damage, and that there was a good chance that he would be serving some serious prison time as a result of his actions. While I can only confirm that I was hit with a $1,400 cost associated with a payment that Garry swore many times would be taken care of, and never was, I feel comfortable taking the word of the Detective, and the Prosecutor's Office, and their word has been that Garry has acted unethically, illegally, and that he has repeated those actions in a way that clearly defines him as someone that should not be trusted in any business situation.

I would highly encourage anyone building a house in the Montgomery, Mason, Maderia and Kenwood areas to look for another builder. From the very beginning we had to be "hands on" with the entire project. Essentially, we hired Gary Brasch to be our general contractor and had to manage the project ourselves to insure that we got the final outcome we desired. There are many major complaints with this group, for the sake of time we will keep this to the ones that have created the most headache for a family building a custom home: 1.) No site supervision - We located every mistake and had to bring this to the builders attention. You should expect to spend 3 to 4 hours on site daily. Each morning and evening we had to inspect the work site for items and them report them to GBCH (Gary Brasch Custom Homes) 2.) No or misleading information - In many cases we found our builders giving us explanations for items that were not factual and upon review were not what they had told us. This involved work by the subcontractors, delivery dates, excuses for delays, design requests. 3.) Poor workmanship - In particular we had 4 seperate brick contractors work on our house. Each time we had contentions with the quality of the brick contractor. It was a complete fight to get anything resolved and at that is was never done to the quality expected of a custom home builder. 4.) Lack of response - At 2 years and 9 months we finally got our last issue resolved, replacing the screens that GBCH damaged the year before.
