Response from Floor Coverings International - Cincinnati
This appointment happened to come from an underprivileged part of town. Some people might even call it, uncharitably, the “Ghetto.” We arrived at the home on time. For someone who was used to the white bread world of the Suburbs, being in that neighborhood was, quite honestly, scary. However, one of our core values is that we believe that every family - every family - deserves a home that is safe and stylish according to that homeowner’s unique taste and budget. And so we went in. Against one wall of the living room was a crib, and inside that crib was the cutest one-year-old baby girl you could ever imagine, dressed in pink, staring up at us with big wide-opened eyes. Also inside were the parents, who turned out to be a gentleman and a lady. They were of gentle aspect and were young and just starting out in life. They had a problem. While they had recently moved into the home, the carpet was in very bad condition. The parents were afraid to put their new baby down on it. So, while downstairs in the living room, the baby was confined to the crib when not held by her parents. They had to do something. They read about us on Angie’s List and then made an appointment. We sat down with them and asked them to describe their needs. They didn’t want carpet because it was too hard to clean. They wanted something economical but well-made. We showed them Hominy Hill, one of our private-label offerings. It is a luxury vinyl plank - that is, it has a wood look and comes in individual planks like wood. It is low maintenance and easy to clean. It is well-made (virtually all of our products, no matter the price-point, are made in the USA because we feel we know what is actually in those products). It is also pretty. They liked the product and the price fit their budget, and so they signed the contract. Our installers (who are the best we can find) executed the installation flawlessly. At the end of the project, when we came to inspect, the father greeted us with his baby in his arms. As we sat on the couch, he put his child on the new floor, from where, with her mouth open, she sat as only a baby can sit, and gazed up at us with wide-open, gorgeous, big brown eyes.
