After extensive research, we contracted with Deer Park Roofing to perform this significant amount of work. Originally we had only asked for roof/gutter/downspout work. I was very impressed that the president of the company was the one doing the estimation. After making the decision to also work in the siding into this project, because of Deer Park's openness, detail, and customer service, we ultimately decided we wanted to do everything with one company. Deer Park Roofing's attention to customer service and willingness to work with us on various requests and aspects were key to why we selected their bid. Quite honestly, several of their competitors didn't even call us back after giving us an estimate. Deer Park Roofing followed up. We had an aggressive timeframe for them to complete the work and they accomodated, ensuring we started the project on time and completing the roof in two days and the siding/gutter/downspout work in 5-6 days with some inclement weather in between. Well within the timelines we had requested. The professional office staff were easily accessible throughout the process. Additionally, the roofers and siders were extremely professional, neat, organized, and accomodating during the process as well. During this process over the past six weeks or so, we recommended Deer Park Roofing to a few friends and they have also selected DPR for roofing related work.

Working Deer Park Roofing was such a pleasure. There were two friendly and professional gentlemen who worked 4 days replacing boxed gutters. They took their time and completed the work until the job was finished. After every work day, they cleaned up after themselves (almost like they were never there). I had received other quotes from other roofers and their prices were the same but my husband and I choose DPR because they are friendly, honest people who do fantastic work.
Description of Work: Our back porch boxed gutters were completely replaced on a 95 year old house and the side house gutters were sealed until we can afford to have them replaced.

This company was very professional and thorough from beginning to end. Rodney gave us an estimate and the final project cost exactly what the estimate was for. Rodney also inspected the work and made sure everything was done according to the company's quality control. Matt, the scheduler, was great to work with in getting the project scheduled and keeping us informed. Clint, the foreman, did an excellent job of making sure that all of the details were taken care of. It was forecast to rain the second day of the project but they made sure that the roof was protected before leaving the night before. They did an excellent job of cleaning up each day and at the end of the project. We are very happy with the finished results.
Description of Work: Old shingles were removed and new ones were installed. This included all flashing and some roof repair around chimney. Also, new gutter guards and gutter apron was installed.

We purchased our 15 year old home last September. We were told from the previous owner that there were gutter guards on the rear of the house, but not the front. We have a very wooded lot and the fall brought us many leaves. Our home inspection also noted a few shingles that needed repair. We called Deer Park Roofing and received the best service we have had in a very long time. The staff was very courteous and professional. The estimate was reasonable (don't recall exact amount but was lower than expected) and they could complete the work in a timely manner. They repaired the roof shingles that needed it and cleaned and installed gutter guards on the front gutters. They also checked and confirmed gutter guards were in place on the rear of the home, which we didn't even ask them to do. They went above and beyond our expectations and completed the work in the frigid temps of January! We would highly recommend Deer Park Roofing for any job needed.

I chose Deer Park Roofing because of the ratings and reviews on Angie's List. I was told by other roofers that I needed to replace my roof, and I was getting estimates. I called to get an estimate from Deer Park Roofing too. The man came as scheduled, and he seemed knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing we didn't like were some disparaging comments he made about some of his competitor's workers. I received the estimate in a timely manner, and my wife and I drove around to look at roofs they had done in the shingle colors we thought we might use. We didn't find a shingle that we liked, and because of some other big expenses, we decided to put off replacing the roof until next year. Instead, we asked about repairing the problem area, where we had a leak. He told us what he thought needed done, and said it would cost $325, although I thought this was a rough estimate. When we were thinking of replacing the roof, he was very attentive, even eager. He called us a couple of times to see if we had made a decision, and answered all of my e-mailed questions. After we decided to just repair the roof, he was difficult to get in touch with. I left one unreturned phone message, and one unanswered e-mail. He later told me that he had been very busy, and that he had a couple of e-mails, which for some unknown reason were sent to his spam folder. That could be, but other e-mails were answered promptly. Anyway, a couple of workmen arrived as promised, but were here for only half an hour. How much of that time was spent up on the roof fixing the problem, I don't know. Maybe almost all of it. They did not let me know anything, or even tell me they were leaving. I just happened to look out to see they were gone half an hour after arriving. Yes, I did agree to the $325 cost, but I thought they would be here for more than half an hour. Since they weren't, I thought the cost was very high. I think they "fixed" some nail pops, and resealed some shingles. I didn't answer the Quality question above, because I don't know. If we stay dry, then they certainly get points for that. Lastly, I commented via e-mail on what I thought was a high cost for the amount of time they were here. An office worker replied that she was forwarding my e-mail to the appropriate person. I didn't get a response from him, so I paid the bill. In a nutshell, Nick Sabino, once he became aware of my review, called me on the telephone. We had a nice conversation, and I found him to be very professional and accommodating. He listened to my concerns, and said he would address them. His trucks have GPS units, and that confirmed that his workmen were only here for half an hour. He said he would send me a new invoice, and send my check back. He did both of those things very quickly. The new cost was fair from my point of view, and if I were able to deal with Nick Sabino directly, then I might very well use Deer Park Roofing again.

The fellow who showed up to do the estimate was not very personable, and was difficult to understand. A written estimate was sent a few days later. We didn't even consider using this company because the estimate was sky-high. We engaged another contractor who gave us an estimate for the same work that was about a 5th of this estimate. The work performed was excellent, so it's not as if the lower estimate didn't give us good quality.

I got three estimates. Theirs was a little more than the lowest, but I thought the quality of the materials specified was a little better. Rodney came out to get the info for an estimate and was very helpful in exploring with me the possibility of applying Cool Vent nail board to provide more insulation over our roof decking to provide more insulation for the good part of our home with cathedral ceilings. It turned out to be more expensive than I could tolerate. He helped me consider the positives and negatives of going without gutters on our home with large overhangs. In the end, I removed the old gutters and after seeing how this worked for a couple of months, decided to go without gutters. They provided me an address to view a home with the exact shingles we were considering to give us more confidence in our choice. The crew arrived bright and early on the day scheduled and got more than half of the old roofing off that day and put down new tar paper (felt) over that section before leaving. During the night the weather forcast took a turn for the worse and it was raining the next morning with a forcast of possible higher winds later in the day. The crew came back and worked in the rain to carry most of the shingle bundles up on the roof and to place them around edges to prevent any high winds from stripping the new felt. The foreman, Clint, gave me his number and told me to call at any time if there was some kind of wind or leakage problem. Then they left and came back the next day when the weather was good. They chiseled and sawed off the old chimney cap and poured a new one, keeping the old shingles around that area until that work was done to prevent any damage or soiling of the new shingles. They put in new valleys where needed, applied drip edges all around, added the new insulation over the portion of the house that was lacking it (since it had earlier been over a car port), and took off the rest of the old roofing. (Three dump truck loads of debris.) The rest of the new felt was applied and the new roofing applied. They put on the new ridge vent and at my request routed my TV antenna cable under the ridge vent to the end of the roof. Each day they picked up debris which fell from the roof and on the last day made an extensive effort to pick up bits of roofing and nails that had fallen. In the course of this, they preserved without any damage a large number of shrubs and plants that we had growing near the house. They ran a wheeled magnet bar up and down the driveway and the adjacent lawn to catch any nails that might have hidden there. I was pleased that this hard working crew was restrained in their language during all of their work so that there was little or no swearing or off color remarks heard. The foreman, Clint, asked several times if I was satisfied with various things and I was. This was a high quality job, it looks great, and it was clear that they emphasize quality work and a quality experience overall.
Description of Work: Removed two layers of old shingles and stripped to bare wood. Took out old, unused metal chimney and patched hole in roof decking with new wood so it could be roofed over. Put down new tar paper, new drip edges, new valleys, new dimensional roofing. Added insulation to the portion of the cathedral ceiling that had previously been part of a double carport, but was added to the house as a couple of rooms during a remodelling years ago. Replaced a small section of trim on one gable that had been water damaged. Added ridge venting system and added 20+ new soffit vents. Removed old, cracked chimney cap and replaced with new. Added new flashing around chimney and painted it. Cleaned up the surface of the chimney brick and sealed it..

There are only two companies in Cincinnati the I could find that would do an asbestos job. Though I felt the other company was a little more professional in some ways, I chose Deer Park because they gave me an estimate for the entire roof and not just the main roof at the same price. They were quick and careful not to damage shrubs and stuff. My tenant did complain to me that some of the workers left garbage around and they and a supervisor were rude when she mentioned it. Otherwise, thanks to Hurricane Ike and Deer Park Roofing for replacing my problematic old roof.

I have used them several times before and I really trust them. They reduced the price because the job was so small. The guy even checked the roof out for me at no additional charge and showed me pictures he took of the gutters that caused the overflow. He spotted cracks in the foundation and suggested that I get a structural engineer to look at them. He even tossed a dead bird off my roof for me. He went beyond the call of duty.
Description of Work: The roofing company turned around a spout that was going into a very small gutter causing overflow and turned it down towards a gutter that was long so that it could handle the water better. This in turn corrected the problem of the termites entering through the cracks.

In March of 2009 we decided to put a new roof on our house. Some neighbors mentioned Deer Park Roofing (DPR) so we asked them for a proposal, which we accepted. We have been extremely happy with the entire process starting with a visit from Rodney Calhoun for a proposal. In passing, I told Rodney I was concerned about attic venting and inquired about the relative advantages of box vents, power vents and ridge vents. Rodney immediately recommended ridge vents and ran down the current technology and his own experience as a roofer. He also explained that my idea of two power vents wouldn?t work since each power vent would be pulling air into the same opening that the other power vent was trying to exhaust air from! I also had concerns about chimney flashing and power nailers. Rodney said they always replaced the old chimney flashing, soldered all of their seams and nail heads and put two coats of paint on the finished product. Also, that hand nailing would not be a problem if the underlayment was sound. From there the whole thing was smooth as silk. We looked at colors and grades of shingles at DPR. Rodney used the computer to overlay different color shingles on our house. We took samples home? In the end we looked at three different houses they had roofed with our color and that helped a lot. At the agreed time Clint and his crew showed up for the job. Clint explained how all the debris would be moved in real-time off the roof onto the truck; the crew would come early and leave early to avoid being on the shingles when they were soft? I inspected the roof after the old shingles were gone and the holes from the box vents were patched? It was smooth as silk. I inspected the chimney after it was flashed but before the shingles were installed. The seams were soldered beautifully and nail heads coated? Lastly, Rodney came by for a final walkover. We checked for uncovered nails (none); straight ridge vents (straight); nailing patterns (couldn?t get shingle up)? Subsequently, we are extremely well pleased with our new roof. Even the neighbors love it! We unhesitatingly recommend Deer Park Roofing to anyone who needs a new roof?or any other product or service that they sell.
