Let me first say the tech who came to our house was polite, knowledgable and good at what he did. But unfortunately that is not enough. Like most people, my wife and I have busy schedules. I was told that for the first appointment that a note would be made and our appointment would be first in a 8-12 slot. They got there at 1130 am causing my wife to be late for a noon meeting. The tech was good so we let this slide. We paid for the service and were told that we would be contacted when the part was in. We were again told 8-12 so my wife cleared her schedule. They could not get there until 3 pm again forcing my wife to miss important meetings. I called to complain and they had no answers and didn't offer a price reduction for our inconvenience. In a world with powerful social media- you would think customer service would be more important. I would recommend you use one of the other services on this list as there are a number of other choices.

The service was quick and easy. He did a good job. The only thing was it cost a little more than I expected to pay. There is a $58 charge for the house call, and then they charge labor on top of that. Admittedly, this is the first appliance service I have had so I have no comparison. Overall, they did a great job and I am happy with the service, just wish it could have been cheaper.

The office manager/scheduler, Gail, surprised me with an appointment for the same day that I called. Super pleasant. Efficient -took down issues with the refrigerator, then read them back to me. The scheduled technician, Steve, arrived on time, and as he assessed the unit, he explained what he was checking. Incredibly good with the explanations and very patient with questions. Sadly, the issue appears to be a freon leak, and in this model, it is not repairable. But I'd use this company again gladly if the opportunity arises. I highly recommend them.

This morning my son noticed a puddle of water in the basement. I came home from work at 12:45pm and saw the puddle was under our dishwasher and seeped through the floor and into the basement. After calling Day's Appliance they said someone could be at my home the same afternoon. Pat arrived by 4 pm, and he could have been earlier, but I had to pick my kids up from school, so Day's accommodated my schedule. The dispatcher called me just prior to Pat's arrival, which I always prefer. The valve hook up to my dishwasher had a slow leak, and it was repaired quickly. The service tech assured me that the leak was a very slow drip, and I caught it early enough that it did no damage to my floor. Pat was out of here by 4:45. The cost was reasonable, and he took my Angie's list coupon.

They were very quick and cheap. He did a good job. He looked it over, he melted the chunks of ice, he plugged it back in and put it back together in less than fifteen minutes. There was no mess. I chose them because Angie’s List had good reviews and we have used him before. He was very nice and knowledgeable.

The tech was on time, very knowledgeable, polite, and explained on the first visit what was wrong. I called them because the touch panel quit working to run the dishwasher. He had to order the panel and would return to put it in. First visit was June 4th, and return visit was June 7th. I consider that quick service, and was glad I only had to hand-wash for 4-5 days! :) Since my husband and I are retired, the price was a little high, but I did get an Angie's List discount so that made me very happy with the overall price.

My family and I returned from a trip out of town to a washing machine that didn't work. It would start, fill, and then cut off. I could manually advance it and it would empty, but it would never spin. That is exactly what I told the lady who answered the phone at Day's Appliance Repair when I called them the next day. She told me Kenny would be out to take a look at it. I wasn't able to be there, but the girl who stays with my kids during the summer was there. She said Kenny was in the basement with the machine for a few minutes, and then told her it needed a new water pump. I spoke with him over the phone, and he told me it was a "common problem" but they didn't keep the part in stock and would take three to five days to ship from Michigan. "If it's such a common problem, Kenny, why don't you stock the part?" "I, uh, I don't know." "Ok. Please order it." "Ok. One of the ladies in the office will call you when it's in to set up an appointment. It should be here by Friday or Monday at the latest." Monday rolled around and I hadn't heard a thing. I waited until the afternoon, called, and asked if the part was in. The part was in, and Kenny could install it Tuesday afternoon. It was a little annoying that I had to initiate contact, but understandable. I know Mondays can be hectic. Kenny came on Tuesday while the babysitter was there and installed the part. I had the babysitter write a cheque, and was assured, by Kenny, that everything was in working order. I walked in the door that evening to a grumpy wife. "The washing machine is doing the exact same thing it was doing before we spent $303 to fix it." "Really?" "Really." So I called Day's. It was after hours and my call was forwarded to an answering service. I left a message asking Day's to call me back as soon as possible the next day. The call never came. Running up against close of business, I decided to initiate contact again. They had no record of my call from the previous day and spoke to me as though I was being terribly inconvenient. I explained to them what was going on and asked if another tech could come out and take a look. They sent Kenny. They told me he'd be at my house between 8 and 12 the following day. He missed the mark by a bit on the late side. When he finally arrived, he called me and asked me what was going on like he had never been to my house and hadn't "fixed" my machine the week before. I explained the situation to him, and he said his notes from the office said that my machine wasn't draining. That was not my complaint. Poor communication between office and techs? Check. Kenny did a little more thorough diagnosis of the machine this time and discovered the spin control board was inoperable. So he called me to let me know another part was needed but would have to be ordered. "Yeah, it's a common problem on these machines." "If it's common, Kenny, why don't you stock the part?" "I, uh, I don't know." "Great. Thanks. How much is this part?" "It'll be $184. Do you want me to order it? I won't charge you a diagnostic fee for this visit, and I won't charge you labor to install the new part." "Well, gee, thanks, Kenny. That's mighty charitable of you to not charge me for your error in diagnosing my machine. I'm already three hundred dollars into it. It doesn't make sense to quit now, but if you had told me it would cost me close to $500 last week, I would've just bought a new machine." "Yeah. One of the ladies in the office will call you when it's in to set up an appointment. It should be here by Friday or Monday at the latest." "Thanks." Monday, close of business rolls around--again--and I--again--have to initiate contact with the office staff, who--again--treat me like I'm holding up the line at their favorite ice cream stand. "Yeah, the part's in. Kenny can be there tomorrow between 10 and 2." The next morning I got a call from Day's explaining that Kenny had a "family emergency" and wouldn't be able to install the part that day. Again, I got sassed by the lady like Kenny misdiagnosing my machine and then skipping out on work was my fault. "Can you send another tech." "No, Kenny has the part you need in his truck." "That seems like poor planning." "I can set you up for Friday between 10 and 2." "Can you set me up for tomorrow?" "I can, but he might not be there. It is a family emergency after all." "Ok. Let's set it up for tomorrow, and if we have to reschedule to Friday, we'll do it tomorrow." ::audible sigh:: "Ok." "Thanks." The next day, Kenny showed up, installed the new, correct part, and called me to proudly proclaim his victory. "I want you to hear something, sir. You hear that? That's your washing machine working! That'll be $184." "Thanks, Kenny, but I'd prefer to check it out for myself before I pay you. I'll bring a cheque by this afternoon, or mail it to you if you prefer. Just leave me a bill." "Oh, I can't do that. I can't leave here without payment or the part." "I hope you can understand why I'm a little gun-shy here, Kenny. You initially misdiagnosed my machine, installed a largely unnecessary part, didn't bother to check if that actually fixed the problem, and now you've run my bill into the range of a new washer. I'd like to see it function correctly before I pay you." "I just can't do that. I can take the new parts off of it and refund you everything but the service charge, but I can't leave without being paid. I'm liable for the part." "Do you have my old water pump, Kenny?" "Uuuuuh, no." "So you'll leave me with a disabled machine? If you had given me the option to give you back your part last week, I would have, and then I would've gone out to buy a new machine, but I've already put the effort into this one, and spent the money on two new parts. Hopefully it'll last another 10 years." "Oh, yeah, it should. These are common issues on these machines. I've been repairing them for 20 years. I know what I'm talking about." "Roger that, Kenny. I'll have the babysitter write you a cheque." Throughout the rest of the conversation, Kenny admitted to never running an initial diagnostic on the machine. He told me he read the notes from the office and assumed it was the water pump. Thanks a lot, Kenny. It's hard to believe a company so highly rated here on Angie's List could perform so poorly. Incompetent techs and rude secretaries are not my idea of good service. Avoid this company. UPDATE: Mr. Day called me to talk about this ordeal. He seemed like a straight forward guy who was genuinely interested in my experience and thoughtfully concerned about correcting the issues in his company. I did not request any sort of compensation, and he did not offer it, which I appreciated. He assured me my experience is not indicative of his 25 year history and not how he prefers things to operate. I told him the experience stands for what it is, that I was thankful he reached out to me, and at the very least I would update my review.
Description of Work: Misdiagnosed my machine, installed a part that was largely unnecessary, dragged repair on for two and a half weeks, communicated poorly, and the secretaries treated me like I was some kind of nuisance almost every time we spoke. Avoid this company.

I explained the problem with the washer was that it went directly to "final spin" no matter what it was set on, that it didn't fill or go though any other cycle but just jumped directly to the final spin cycle. The provider said it needed a new control timer at a cost of parts and labor of $261. He didn't do anything but set the washer on a different cycle to check the problem which is what I had been trying for two days. Next, he said I should just buy a new washer because my brand was a very poor manufacturer (it is a major brand washer) and I shouldn't get one from them again. The washer was only 6 years old and in excellent condition but I believed him and declined the $261 repair because he said I could find a similar washer with extra large capacity for about $325 on the extended 4th of July sales. HAH! That also was wrong. There was nothing similar under $500. Finding no washer of similar size under $500, I went online to the manufacturer's site and discovered in their FAQs section that all my washer needed was to be re-set by turning off the breaker for 30 seconds and then resetting the cycle before turning the breaker back on. So glad I didn't follow this provider's advice but very unhappy he didn't even check the washer problem correctly. Maybe the people that gave such great reviews to this provider didn't try alternatives or didn't check with a different service provider. This provider (who said he had 20 years experience repairing appliances) should have known about re-setting the breaker and should have tried that, at least, for his $61. UPDATE: The owner called me on the 24th of July about my review. He said he was sorry the rep didn't do more checking before recommending repair and said he would be speaking with that rep. He also sent a check for a full refund although I did not ask for one. He was very friendly and apologized several times. I won't change my original review but I have changed the overall review from an "F" to a "C" due to the owner's responsiveness. Also, because of this call from the owner I might use the service in future. I would just be sure to request a different rep than the one who came before. Thanks to the owner for refunding the service call.
Description of Work: The provider showed up at the end of the scheduled time. He was very pleasant and friendly. He did nothing to check the washer's problem but try setting it once on a different cycle. UPDATE: Please see my update below.

The company technician after locating the faulty parts had to order the replacements for later installation. the company kept me informed by telephone of the ordering process including estimates of when the technician would be able to install the new parts. I was given a heads-up about 30 minutes of his arrival. The entire operation was trouble free and handled pleasantly and professionally. I would use these folks again for any future appliance proble,\ms and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. The $60.00 charge was an insurance copay for the job which had a total cost of $347.50.

I called Day's Appliance to fix one of the broken knobs on my range. They responded promptly and sent out Pat to do the work. Pat was really friendly and knowledgeable. He took apart the range to get to the knob and identified the part that he needed. It was a fairly specific part so he had to order it. He came back a few days later and replaced the knob with the new part. I felt their pricing was very fair- it was $250 and required two visits and about 75 minutes of his time. I was happy with the service and will definitely use these guys again for apppliance repairs.
