Dave Cole and Son

Dave's price was in the middle range category but he was just starting out so I gave him the contact in order to help him get established. After four days of work, there was still not a single wall completed. On the last day, all walls were completed with what was supposed to be two coats of paint. There was paint on the trim, the carpet, the windows, the cat, a new dining room chair I had bought a week prior, and a recliner which was located in a bedroom and not a room in which he had any business being. Collective value of those two chairs in just over $800.00. There was also paint in my garage, on my trash cans, and on my car which luckily washed off as the car was dusty so the paint was on top of the dust. After I saw all the damage, I immediately called my bank and stopped payment on the $500 check I had given him early that day. The other $500 was in cash because he said his son needed the cash. He came back four days later to "finish" the job and ended up cussing me out, then demanding to be allowed to finish the job. One wall will have to be sanded in order to look good as the paint was put on too thickly and ran down the wall. There are also bare places in the paint on that wall. He was very angry that I had stopped payment and threatened to take me to small claims court for the entire amount, even the $500 cash since his son "forgot" to bring the receipt book so he is a thief as well as incompetent. It is going to have to cost me the price of the entire job in order to fix his sloppiness. I am glad to say I found a new contractor from Angie's List and he begins tomorrow.
