+ 0 moreI called the owner, Dave and set up a time for him to bid the project. We agreed upon 9 am. At 9 am he didn't show. I called twice at 9:30 and 9:45. Finally, at 10:00 I got him on the phone and he said, ''Yeah, oh...I had to stop someplace.'' Then, he told me he would be at my home at 10:30. By 11, he still hadn't arrived. I called again at 11:45 to tell him we didn't want him to come. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME as I had to stay home from work today.
Description of Work: No work was finished.

Description of Work: IN 2003, I contracted David Belew on the advice of my real estate agent. I had recently returned to this country and hired him to paint my library. He recommended and pushed for us to use a certain high-end paint that is common in Europe (where I had recently moved from, and was familiar with). He painted my library with two coats of paint in a very short period of time, too fast,(it was a humid summer, even though the house was air conditioned, humidity was a factor) there were runs and drips and drying problems, even after the first coat, when I voiced my concerns as he was starting the second coat of paint; he blamed me for or not providing him with a fan, which he never requested. Then he told me 'all would be fine' and began painting the second coat. I finally gave up, paid him and hired someone else to correct the problems he created. In the end my beautiful library shelves still look as if they have been painted too many times by an amateur.

+ -1 moreI had five quotes; he was the lowest. Next quote was $1000 more; highest was $12k. Dave presents well, but the work is definitely second rate. I constantly had to review the work and point out problems. Dave was good at fixing them, but I was disappointed that I was the one having to find the errors. Dave just doesn't supervise his people. Now was it worth it? Because the price was low, it worked out well for us... only because I could review the work, and that Dave worked hard to satisfy us.
Description of Work: Painted all walls, ceilings, moldings, doors, and windows in a 2500 sq ft condo.

+ -1 moreVERY HAPPY WITH DAVE. I WAS TRYING TO DO ALL OF MY OWN PAINTING AFTER A HOUSE PROJECT. I GOT IN A JAM AN NEEDED HELP IMMEDIATELY. DAVE OPENED UP ROOM IN HIS SCHEDULE AND HELPED ME OUT OF A JAM. I CAN'T THANK HIM ENOUGH.
Description of Work: PAINTED TRIM, NEW LIVING ROOM, AND CEILING OF NEW FAMILY ROOM.

+ -1 moreTHEY DID NOT CALL BACK UNTIL AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE BY ANOTHER COMPANY, WEEKS LATER.
Description of Work: I CALLED THIS COMPANY SEVERAL TIMES TO GET AN ESTIMATE AND NO ONE EVER RETURNED MY CALLS. I DID TRY TO LEAVE A MESSAGE AND STILL NO ONE CALLED ME BACK.

+ -1 moreDID EXCELLENT JOB. I BOUGHT MY OWN PAINT. THEIR JOB WAS VERY NEAT. THEY EVEN CLEANED UP THE CHANDELIER WHILE HE WAS UP THERE. IT TOOK ONE DAY.
Description of Work: PAINTED INSIDE FRONT DOOR ENTRY WAY WALLS, UP STAIRWAY WALL AND UPSTAIRS HALL. TWO COATS AND TRIM, A DIFFERENT COLOR.
