Classy Craftsmen

Very knowledgeable, excellent advice with respect to how repairs should be preformed to provide best aesthetics. Timely response to my request for bids.

The company representative came out to the house, then provided an estimate via e-mail. The estimate specified that work was to be done by 24 March. (I needed the work to be done before birds began nesting in the holes.) The work did get done - on 8 May, after I had called to follow up several times, and indicated in my voice messages that I would cancel the work if it did not get done immediately. So, work was done according to estimate, and I was very happy with the workman who came out to do it. Timeliness was the big issue. By the time the work was done, birds were nesting in the opening, and the birds had to be chased out and the nest destroyed - exactly the situation I was trying to avoid.

Dave returned our call quickly and was on time for the original estimate. His team was able to start the job earlier than originally estimated which was a pleasant surprise. They were courteous and professional throughout the entire job. They were very accommodating to work changes requested during the job.

Classy Craftsmen crew did a great job. Dave Beck's employees are polite, careful, hard-working and professional. Painting the decorative grooves in our double garage doors and shutters was a challenging task, but the crew leader, Brady, took his time and did a superb job. We are really picky about quality and aesthetics; Dave Beck made us feel like he understood our concerns and respected our needs. We would definitely hire this company again!

I contacted Dave via email regarding multiple jobs that I needed done around a house that I own. We communicated back and forth and settled on a date and time to meet for an estimate. I gave him my cell phone number in case there was any delay that morning. I was there early and waited over 1/2 hour for him and he never showed. I never received a phone call or an email explaining why he didn't show. I am very surprised because of the high rating that he has on the list. I guess my business wasn't important to him.

My husband and I were in the process of buying a house in Pleasant Ridge which we were very excited about. Unfortunately, the inspection report on the house turned up a laundry list of issues that required attention by a skilled handy man. We needed an estimate the next day. We found Dave's name on Angie's List and asked him to come out on short notice and quote the jobs. The roof, it seemed at the time, was not one of them. The house inspector noted that it was in ?acceptable? condition, and had another 12 years or so of life. Dave contradicted this finding, and informed us that the roof would require replacing almost immediately ? and that it would be an expensive job ? in the range of $25,000!!! The inspector had completely missed it. We had another roofer come out who confirmed Dave?s original assessment. Based on that information, we backed out of the deal. Dave was our guardian angel that day!

Dave, the owner/estimator, was late in arriving for the estimate (he called me to tell me he was running late at the time he was supposed to be there), but once he arrived he helped me identify the most pressing repairs and provided an estimate within 5 work days. Brady, the painter, was very careful and did an excellent job and clean-up was excellent. Basement painters did a decent job (it was an unfinished basement and I felt like they "treated" it like it was an exterior job). Clean-up was ok. A handyman installed the lights and fixed the faucet. Both jobs were completed and clean-up was pretty good. These latter jobs ended up requiring more time then they originally estimated and he offered to eat the cost (we paid them because we felt this was fair for all parties).

The team completed the work in a timely manner with follow up calls from Dave. The work done was excellent. All rubble was removed and care was taken with shrubs during the painting process. Drop-sheets were used and the team cleaned up at the end of each day. All members were very easy to communicate with.

We had been advised that deck could not be painted or needed to be refinished etc., by other vendors. Dave Beck assured us it could be painted and warrantied that it would last at least 3 years. This costless than other ways. Also pointed out areas where previous painter failed to properly caulk and seal windows and these cracks should be repaired in the spring. All work was done professionally and within a reasonable time frame.

Dave did a great job! He was highly professional and reliable, and the work looks great!

Dave Beck responded to my inquiry in a timely way and made an appointment with me to come survey the job and give me an estimate. He suggested it might be more practical to paint the door and sidelights as it would last longer than the stained and varnished finish on it currently. As the door faces west it gets a terrible beating from the sun. I was sent a written proposal detailing the job, cost and time frame. He scheduled the repair in a time frame that fit my schedule and his employee (Brady) showed up punctually and has been very professional. My paint chips were matched perfectly. The door looks great and although the bid was one of the higher ones I received, I am more than pleased with the result and would gladly use this company again and recommend them without reservation.

I contacted the company, made an appointment to discuss the work the following week (April) and waited to receive the estimate I was promised. As of late June (delay in my follow up because of my schedule), I still hadn't received the requested estimate so I contacted the company again. I received a reply that Dave was out of the country and that he would be given a priority note to contact me upon his return (July 17). Today is July 23 and I guess I'm not a priority as I have yet to hear back. I am giving up and moving on - even though the company is highly rated on Angie's List.

Mr. Beck returned my call immediately and answered my questions. He was extremely helpful. He provided me with the name and number of a company which could do the work which I required. He showed extra effort to provide me with the company information when this was not necessary. I truly appreciated it. Thank you for your help.

Dave Beck responded very quickly to my initial phone message. I described what needed to be done and he scheduled a handyman, Greg, to come within 2 days. Greg arrived on time with a fully loaded truck containing tools and equipment. All the work was completed in a very professional manner and took approximately 3 hours, which is about what I anticipated. Greg also pointed out (and tightened) a loose bracket on the garage door NOT being repaired. I would definitely use Classy Craftsmen again and highly recommend them.

As of today (March 15, 2007), I have yet to hear from him or a representative from the company.

From start to finish I was extremely satisfied with Classy Craftmen. The owner returned our call within an hour and was at our home that afternoon to supply a quote. The quote was on an hourly basis with a cap of $675. We scheduled the work within the next week (due to weather restrictions) and the carpenter arrived on time and finished the work efficiently. The final bill was far less than the quote, which is great, but rare.

Mr. Beck returned my call the same day and they came out the next day. They were very professional. They found the cause of the leak and sealed it. They also patched the damaged drywall. I was very pleased with their professionalism and work. No mess left behind and so far, no more leaks. We will consider them for future bigger jobs.

Dave was able to fit my job in right before the winter weather hit. His crew cleaned and prepped all exterior surfaces (including shutters) of my old house. They then painted the entire house, halting for brief weather-related periods. I was amazed at Dave and crew's level of detail and follow-up.

Dave was always punctual, promptly responsive to calls, and very easy to talk with about any aspect of the job. Dave's team was great; friendly, hard working, and conscientious. The job was large and we went over the initial estimate, however, many extra items were added along the way; all of which were very reasonable. The work began in early February and finished in early May. I was able to move in on time with just a few tidbits yet to be finished; that was quite remarkable and a testament to their long hours and diligence. I enjoyed working with this crew and got quite an education about how things worked along the way. I recommend Dave and his crew without reservation and I am confident that you will be satisfied with their work.

I was very pleased with the quality of work. There was no mess left at the end of the job.

When Dave returned my call, I liked his manor. He told me how/what they would do, and it was everything I wanted. He promised to have the job done before October, but in fact didn't start till 10/1 and finished in a week (we changed the schedule ahead of time). We selected colors at the day before they began painting, and added windows to be painted during the job. They replaced trim boards as they found them to be bad. Twice the trim board replacement was not up to their own liking, and they came back and fixed them without my prompting at no additional charge. Each day the workers cleaned up after themselves. They were careful about protecting my roof when they were on it, and THE FINAL PAINT JOB LOOKS GREAT. My only complaint about the work is that the painters slopped some paint onto the glass and finished surfaces of the windows that I needed to clean up. Dave said that they would have come back if I had complained, but it was easier to do it than to schedule them back.

Classy Craftsmen did an excellent job! They scheduled the job in early summer, said they'd be on the job in late summer, and they showed up on time. The job was spread over about 3 days. They did a great job of prep before ever starting to paint. They fixed some rotting trim and installed new vinyl brick mold as well. Their attention to detail was very good and I was very impressed with the quality of their work. They even came back to wash an upstairs exterior picture window that had streaked from earlier pressure washing. They followed up to ensure my satisfaction and did indeed go out of their way to make me a happy customer. I have used them before for some odd jobs. They also painted exterior deck railings for me earlier this summer. I will continue to give them my business because they provide superior customer service and do high-quality work. Oh, and did I mention that the final bill for the exterior painting came in lower than the original estimate? Great value!

Because it took nearly a month to complete my wall, the crew's attitude and daily behavior was particularly important. In this case, many of my neighbors commented that the Classy Craftsman crew were particularly polite and friendly. The project manager/designer answered my neighbor's questions easily and knowledgeably. It was a good experience for everyone involved. The project was expensive, but fairly priced.

Dave was polite, showed up on time, and returned my calls. His work was excellent. I would definitely hire them again. They took a 1/2 hour, and the usual industry charge is to bill for the hour. Next time, I'll have a few other jobs for him to do as well :-)

There was a delay but it wasn't there fault. We loved every part of it.
