Classy Craftsmen

Very pleased with results. They explained the options to us, why they were using certain materials, and it was a much higher quality job than another popular carpentry outfit did for us. Not the cheapest option by far, but I would pick them again for anything I cared about being done well.

NOT SURE HOW HE GOT SUCH A GREAT RATING ON ANGIE'S LIST!! I rarely write a negative review. HIGH PRICES AND UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE! I wound up using MIKE GEHRICH - HEITMEYER HANDYMAN and I was VERY happy with him. I scheduled him to come at 2, Dave Beck called at 2p saying he was running late, did show up around 2:30. I had a list of items I wanted to be done. I felt that he was also looking for many other items to write up despite the fact that I repeatedly emphasized these were the issues mentioned by the home inspector and I was looking to do the minimum of work needed. One of them items I wanted repaired was a window sill that the inspector had said had some softening. **He proceeded to STICK HIS PEN INTO THE SOFTENED WINDOW SILL to show me that indeed it was already rotting, not just softening. He then moved the pen around a bit to further make his point. I was really taken aback - thought it was totally unprofessional. I asked him why he felt the need to do that and pointed out that anyone walking up the sidewalk by our house could now see that hole and he did not even apologize, he actually LAUGHED at me about being annoyed with him. Despite this, I actually proceeded to go through the list with him as I had seen his good recommendations on Angie's List, he continued to point out many other additional items that he'd quote. He left with the list and said he'd be back to me by the end of the week (it was Thurs - thought that would be Sat or Sun). A week later I called him b/c he still had not sent an estimate. I finally got the estimate later that day AND HE CHARGED $70 FOR CAULKING A 2 FT AREA OF MY BATHROOM! I had 3 small areas in 3 different rooms that needed a little bit of caulking and he wrote $70 each for each of the caulk applications. I was really shocked. I got the name of Mike Gehrich at Heitmeyer Handyman from a friend and realtor and he turend out to be fantastic! Would highly recommend him - his charges were MUCH more reasonable, and he was fast, came out a couple of days after my first meeting with him, and got all of the work done in a couple of days.

It showed promise but without a quote, no work was done.

Decided to use a contractor who delivered a quote when promissed.

We have wood pillars and a bunch of trim. They were willing to work with us as far as scheduling because they were short on scheduling and they fit us in. They were attentive and got it done quickly. They did get some paint on light fixtures. We talked to the owner and he ended up paying us to have those replaced since they were ruined by the paint. Generally it was a good experience. The price was fine.

They were great. They were in and out in six hours; they were fast. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

They were very professional and provided good service. The pricing was in line with that of the competitors. They answered our questions too. Everything was good.

Dave and his crew did a great job. Dave was able to come and give me an estimate very quickly and completed the work less than a week later. Both of the handymen that came were very nice, professional and knowledgeable. I am a perfectionist and I could not find anything wrong with the job which does not happen very often. It was a little more than I would usually pay for these services but they were well worth it. They cleaned up after themselves nicely.

The owner came out and assessed the job. It was 2 weeks before they were able to do the work and get the doors ordered. He had a carpenter come out who did an excellent job. They had to widen one of my walls and then he cut the doors to size and hung the doors. The next day a painter from the company came out and painted the doors. The only problem was after we had the doors installed, we realized that they had cut the doors a little bit short, so we can see a bit underneath. The doors are a little bit short and the door handle covers the glass a little bit. Otherwise, I think they did a really excellent job. They were really expensive, but it was also really good quality of work and they don't do any contractors. I had a lot of phone tag with the owner.

His name was David Beck. We ended up not going with the company. He was very nice and very professional. I personally got the impression that it was almost like a party rather than a full-time business. Although I didn't have any questions about the quality of work they would have done, we went with another company mostly because of the cost and when the work could be done. Classy Craftsmen were the last ones to come out. It took a while for him to get back to us. My husband made a couple of different attempts to get hold of him because my husband was selective about the people he did want to come out and give an estimate. They knew what we wanted to have done and it seemed like they would have been able to do anything that we wanted to have done, but it wasn't on paper when we got the estimate back. The estimate wasn't very detailed.

He was very professional. They were very timely with submitting their bids. They responded to phone calls promptly.

After agreeing on the job, Classy Craftsment came the next day and made the repairs. There was one wiring problem which they recognized and returned to fix the next day. The work was done quickly, thoroughly and just under the estimated cost. I was very pleased with the job they did and would highly recommend them.

They did a good job for me and got rid of the problem after fixing up the stairs. The guy who came out to get the work done arrived on time and kept his promise. He charged a good price. He was very pleasant to deal with and it was a customer friendly experience.

Classy Craftsmen has taken the hard work and headache out of finding high quality service professionals to perform home repair work. We have used this company for over two years, and have always been pleased with the quality of the work. The most recent job, referenced above in this report, included a variety of work, and everything was completed to our satisfaction. This company uses high quality everything -- appliances, materials, etc. My husband and I are perfectionists, and this company always meets our standards!

Classy Craftsmen made the appointment and were here when they said. The work was very fast. It suited our needs at the time. The paint still looks like it is brand new. They were professional and very neat. They also installed the poles once they brought them back. They did a great job with them. Original paint will crack and peel, and powder coating will lasts up to 10 times longer than regular paint finish. It is an expensive process, but it really does pay for itself in the long run. We have a daycare center that is governed by the state of Ohio, and we are issued violations if we have paint chipping and rust spots.

As always, Classy Craftsmen did an excellent job with each of our requests. They show up when they say they will, and are courteous about letting you know if they are running late. They schedule the work around your schedule, so it works for both parties. They are respectful of your property and do an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves. They did an excellent job constructing an exact replica of our mailbox post and painting it to match the previous color, so that it matched the rest of the neighborhood posts (a requirement of our homeowners association). They buried the post in concrete after first treating the lumber, and it looks very solid. I'm sure it will last for many years. They are easy to work with and do quality work. You may pay a premium price, but you get what you pay for, and they are trustworthy!

Said he'd get back to us in about a week with an estimate, we never heard from him again. Total waste of time and very unprofessional.

I called the company on Tuesday and had a guy out on Thursday! Greg, the carpenter, showed up at EXACTLY the time we agreed on! He was professional and did a great job. The company owner came out and picked up the old wood. I'm going to use the company for some other projects in the future.

Our overall experience has been outstanding. They have been very timely to respond and schedule work and get it completed. They have been very good at working through different alternatives and different ways to crouch problems and providing different cost estimates. I would highly recommend them to anybody. I feel that their over all prices are reasonable and well worth the quality of their work.

We had the house painted by a fly-by-night contractor a few years ago. They did a very poor job and the house needed painting again within a short time so we were looking for a high quality contractor and found one in Classy Craftsmen. The house was scheduled to be painted late in 2008, but a severe Fall storm created priority projects for Classy Craftsman. They understood that several windows badly needed calking before the winter, so they did the critical caulking at no charge to tide us over until 2009. They were very diligent with replacement of rotting wood, surface preparation, matching of colors, etc. The workmen were very friendly and helpful. The project was interrupted by rain several times and took about three weeks once they started. The total cost was considerably more than original estimates, but this was not a surprise to me because the need for considerable additional carpentry repair was apparent once the old paint was removed.

I contacted this company for an estimate on deck work & roof repair. Spoke to the owner who very kindly pulled over while he was driving to talk with me on his cell phone. Set up an appointment for the end of the week, which was 1 month ago. I have yet to hear back from him and, needless to say, he won't be hired for the job.

All workers were friendly, trustworthy and good at what they do. Harlan, the painter, is exceptional. After work was complete, they did a fairly good job with clean-up, although we had to have carpet cleaned for some small paint spills and spots left from tile grout. Dave gave me an estimate of how long the work would take, and he met his deadlines. He called about every other night to give me updates on what would be happening next. This company is definetely not cheap---- actually my highest estimate, but the quality was exceptional. I would use them again.

We had a water leak from an upstairs bathroom that caused some minor water damage to the underlying kitchen ceiling. We had also drilled small holes to relieve the water, so we had 4 small holes and some staining from the water. After we had it checked for mold and other possible damage, we needed to repair it. Classy Craftsmen did an outstanding job repairing the holes and stains, and repainting the entire kitchen ceiling (our request). They arrived exactly when they said they would, laid down paint cloths throughout the floors and kitchen area, removed recessed lighting fixtures, and did a quality job repainting the ceiling. It was a one man job that was wrapped up quickly -- in by 8am, out by 2pm. Very professional and courteous. Immediately got down to business, didn't dawdle or waste any time. Exceeded our expectations. Have used them many times for handyman work and will continue to do so. Highly recommended.

They did excellent work on everything.
