Classy Craftsmen

It was a very pleasant experience. The owner is very friendly and down-to-earth. He came in to give us an estimate on a couple things and we ended up adding a couple items to the project on his recommendation. It wasn't a hard-sell....just some things he noticed that would make a big difference that my husband and I would never have thought of. The work crew are all very courteous and considerate and do a great job of cleaning up as best they can at the end of each day. There was one minor glitch along the way, but that's to be expected on any project of this size, I think. They did an outstanding job and we are very pleased with the results. We're already making a list of what to have them do next time!

I put n/a for price because i didn't get multiple estimates for this job. seemed reasonable, but i don't know how competitive it is. dave painted my house exterior a few years ago, and his team did great work, so i looked him up for this job, as well. we exchanged some emails, he came out and took some pictures of the site, made a recommendation, gave me an estimate, and he scheduled the job. for the responsiveness rating, i wish i could give an A- instead of a B. very responsive most of the time, with a few occasional delays when i'd have to follow up. not a big deal at all. overall, super easy to work with, does good work. i will continue to call with future needs.

The painters handed things beautifully. They arrived on time and cleaned up well. Their estimate was what really sold me, it was very thorough and professional.

He was too expensive. His price was $85 per hour.

I purchased a coupon for Classy Craftsmen at the end of 2010 and finally was able to utilize their services recently. I found Dave Beck and his group to be professional, prompt, curteous and very knowledgeable of every project we discussed. I only utilized the coupon at this time for mostly "handyman" services, but look forward to contacting Dave as future projects come to light.

I contacted Mr. Beck thru Angie's List and he was very quick to respond. He scheduled to meet with us later that week. He called on the day of the meeting 3/25 to see if he could meet us an hour later than scheduled. No problem. Unfortunately he was an hour later than the rescheduled time and never called to let us know he was running behind. He was very professional as we discussed plans for the deck and even asked him to quote some exterior painting. It is now 11 days later and we never received an estimate. We can only assume he is not interested in our job. It is interesting to read another member's report from 4/1/2011 who had the same issue of not receiving a quote. They were told he would work in the office on 3/25 to get it done. Interesting because that is the day he met with us. We are looking at someone else to quote the job. Mr. Beck seemed nice enough and we would have loved to see a quote but at this time even if we received one I'm not sure we would be interested.

Dave seemed to be a very nice person and very knowledgeable. My husband met with him on that Saturday around 12:30 p.m. My husband was impressed and thought it would be fine. We wanted our hardwood floors redone and a kitchen floor installed. I had contacted him by email on Angie's List and was very impressed with the quick response and within days he came to see the job and give us and estimate. By Monday, I contacted him to see how it was going, by email. He said he had an office day on Tuesday and would get it done then. We have never heard back and it will be a week since the last correspondence. We are getting this done but unfortunately, not by this company. He seemed to be a very nice man and we would of loved to see his estimate. If he wasn't interested in the job, maybe it wasn't big enough for him, we sure would of loved for him to just say so. At this time, we have secured another company. I relied on Angie's List to help me find a person to do this and I would be irresponsible if I didn't give an accurate review for other people who pay the fee. Thank you.

The job went extremely well. Greg and Joe were skilled, professional, and knowledgeable. The job took 5 days. I was delighted with their work; and they were most careful to clean up thoroughly before leaving each day. Joe even gave me some pointers on plaster crack repair! I have asked Dave for additional repair quotes for future work. A+ for Classy Craftsmen!

Dave Beck met with my husband on 3/17/11 to review the work requested. He was on time and personable. He said he would write a quote over the weekend and email it on Saturday (3/19). We never received an email, so I wrote Dave an email a week later (3/24) asking if he was still interested in the job. He replied that he was unexpectedly playing carpenter that week due to a worker being out with a back injury. He said he was sequestering himself in the office on Friday (3/25) and would get our proposal to us then. First of all, Mr. Beck should have contacted us when the first quote was delayed. I'm an understanding person and my jobs aren't time sensitive. Secondly, he never got back to us with an actual quote EVER; we never heard another word from him. I'm very disappointed because his reviews were mostly very good. Unfortunately, if he were to provide us with a quote now, I'd have to call into question his attention to detail and if he'd complete the job in a timely manner. I couldn't recommend Classy Craftsmen.

I paid $750 about 6 years ago to another company to have this leaking door fixed by having a new door installed. Even though the company at the time (a large replacement window and door company) assured me this would fix the problem, it obviously didn't. However, prior to having the new door installed, the door used to leak so badly that I once woke up to a puddle of rainwater on my hardwood floor. The new door certainly SLOWED the leak, but 6 years after having it installed the hardwood floor in front of my door was visibly rotted and spongy. This was a scary situation for me because it *could* have meant a rotted sub floor, and the scope of work could have included cutting into my finished basement ceiling, and even removing my entire deck to lower it a few inches. It could have cost me a fortune. And I already felt a little screwed because I had paid that $750 once already to have it fixed! I had a few different handymen come out and bid on the job, but I felt that Dave Beck (the Classy Craftsman) seemed to be the most flexible to my needs and sensitive to my desire to save as much money as possible while not compromising on quality. I didn't want it to cost me a fortune, but I was NOT willing to be cheap and risk not getting a COMPLETE fix this time! Especially when it came to water getting in the house. When Dave told me he'd send out his brother-in-law to do the work, a degreed engineer from UC, I was sold. Surely that guy could fix this issue for good! Joe was great! He was on time, polite, and meticulous, which, given the botched repair history of my door problems, made me very comfortable. I think he was excellent. He removed the door and thank god, other than the rotted wood under the sill and a few inches of rotted sub floor (and hardwood) everything else down there was clean, yellow wood! I feel like Joe fixed it the way he'd fix his own home, and I feel confident that my leaking problems are finally fixed. He sprayed anti-mold spray on everything, and salvaged as much as he could. He patched the hardwood floor very neatly, so I don't need to be in a hurry to have the hardwood floors redone. He took a very short, personal lunch break eating the lunch he'd packed, even though I offered to order pizza! And he cleaned everything up behind him. Joe was polite and considerate, and represented the "classy craftsman" company image very well. I would definitely use their company again. I gave them a B on price, because while I felt the price was certainly fair (and actually about half the cost of another handyman I had out!) I think I could have gotten the work done cheaper, but I wasn't willing to low-ball this job, given the potential seriousness of it. And like I said, I thought the price was fair, and in line with the quality. In fact I was pleasantly surprised because I thought it would cost me more. In the end we had agreed to a time plus materials basis rather than an estimate, because I was afraid of the potential scope of the work, and I didn't want the contractor hedging the estimate due to the risk of what he'd uncover once he took the door off. All in all, I would highly recommend this company. They provide quality work to meet your needs at a fair price.

We had trouble getting started after I contacted them for a quote, because my voice mail got deleted, then the email containing my quote got sent to the wrong email address. However, once that all got straightened out, everyone connected with Classy Craftsmen proved to be reliable and prompt, practically to the minute when specific times were scheduled. Some of the work was part of a "Big Deal" which was for a discount on 6.5 hours of labor, so cost would have been somewhat higher without that. The original quote was for less than I paid, but the driveway work was much more difficult and time consuming than expected, and required plumbers, jackhammer rental, etc. The owner, Dave Beck, offered to stick to his original quote but let me know his extra cost, leaving it up to me if I wanted to pay anything additional. I decided to pay extra but did not feel pressured. He didn't charge me anything for fixing my shed door, and threw in an upgraded switch in my bathroom which has timer buttons for the fan. Also his brother, Joe, fixed my doorbell without it being part of the quote because it malfunctioned when he arrived. There were a couple of minor items that were forgotten or had to be redone but they were taken care of promptly when I mentioned them. Overall I was quite happy and will most likely call them again in the future.

I found them on Angie?s List, and they had good ratings. After that, I thought I would give them a try. They do excellent work. They answer our calls and show up when they are supposed to. Sometimes it is a little bit more expensive than what I would normally pay, but the work is always done to perfection. The guy that I always deal with is Dave Beck. He is very nice. He always calls me back or emails me, and if he is going to be late, he will call me. He always shows up when he says he is going to.

Dave and his team performed excellently in all aspects and will certainly ask back when needed. It was a pleasure working with the entire crew.

I was very satisfied with the work performed. I contacted Dave and he had an estimate within a few days and was able to start work right away. I was not able to be present while the work was performed as I do not live where the property is located. Dave kept me up to date on the progress throughout the job. When I went to inspect the work I was very pleased. The walls looked great and they left the house in great condition. Dave also pointed out some other areas of the house that needed some attention and offered to perform the work as well. The only reason I declined a few of the additional jobs was due to my budget constraints at the time. I highly recommend Classy Craftsmen and will use them in the future for my rental property needs.

Claffy Craftsmen did a whole house quote and walked everywhere. The experience went fine and the owner was the one who came out. He explained what he could do and gave me different quotes for each different thing that could be done.

Overall, the work was done well and we are happy with the results. However, there were a few bumps along the way. We hired them with a time constraint, which was not met. At first, we were put off because of potential weather... which is understandable, but then the wrong windows were ordered and we had to wait another week. Outside of the that... the work done was of good quality but the price was a little high. Note that various jobs were sub-contracted (in our case the windows and painting). The advantage is that you only need to call and deal with one company to get various repairs done.

It went well. Joe arrived on time, only billed me for part of the second hour and did the job exactly as I requested. I would use them again.

It went very smoothly. They sent one craftsman who had the skills to do all the jobs.

He was great to meet and speak with on the phone. However, after waiting for the estimate for over a week I had to email him to request it. He promptly replied that he'd get back to me within 2 days. When I received the estimate it was more than I expected...$1200 for the bathroom and $225 for the door. Another handyman (also highly recommended on Angie's) quoted us $300 for all of the work. Granted, Classy Craftsman's number included the materials and paint (which the other contractor did not). He was very professional, but out of our price range.

We have called Classy Craftsmen many times for various projects. They have always done a quality job and used quality products. They were on time for the job and completed the same on time. Their follow-ups are good. They are reasonable in price. We like their services and will continue to use them in future.

A#1 job. We use these professionals a lot.

My only negative comment is that the process took longer than I had anticipated. However, this was mainly due to the magnitude of work Dave and his crew performed, as well as unfavorable weather conditions and inspection delays. I highly recommend Dave and Classy Craftsmen. Their prices are fair for the quality and attention to detail I receive, and I am always satisfied with the work.

The painters and the handyman, Greg were always on time, always courteous and very nice. I actually missed them when they left. They worked around my Mom and I's schedule. Greg chose items for me since I didn't have time to go to the store, excellent taste. Now my house looks like brand new. They did a fantastic job in every way. I would highly recommend them. The owner, Dave is a family man, brought his young 9 or 10 year old daughter along the first time I met him. Excellent guy, and I kept adding tasks along the way for them to do, and they had no problem with any of it. I even asked them after painting all day, to change the color, and asked them to choose a better color, and they did, it was perfect. They all had excellent attitudes, great personalities.

The estimator was very professional, helpful and on time. I haven?t received a quote from them and so I haven?t used their services to get the work done. They were the first company that gave me a quote. The estimator was going to be late, but he called me to see if that was okay. I would call them again for an estimate, but I can?t speak about the price.
